If you want to avoid most of the negatives of this game, don't play past level 49. Just never do the quest to get to 50. You'll avoid PvP entirely, and therefore the cash shop driven gear inflation and the bad part of the community too.

Just curious here, but what am I missing.  Is it because I'm playing the remastered version.  Is that a different version then you are playing?

Level 25 in 2 hours not even rushing either.  Going by how much UI they still had to go in tutorial main quest, I am sure  I was less than half way, I just got a free pet, so another few hours of questing I am level 40?  Where is the fun you are talking about level 40-50?

Seems I am missing something here.  I have like 40 skill points before even figuring how where to put them.

Is it possible you are just having nostalgia for what the game used to be, and not what it is now?  Specifically referencing 1-50.

So far as I know the only difference between the original and remastered version is enhanced graphics in the latter.

Perhaps the two of you simply find fun in different things.

Personally, I think most that enjoy BDO sub-50 are focused mainly on the life skills aspect of the game. The game doesn't have much in the way of traditional PvE and staying below 50 allows one to avoid PvP.

The only thing left is pursuing life skills.

I've looked at gameplay videos. BDO does "look gorgeous", but I'm really not impressed. The ONE thing that caught my eye was the crafting/trading aspect. It's just not enough to keep my interest.

I'm going to forgo this title. Like most MMOs out right now, my underlying thought is "Will I be playing this game for years?" Most of the MMOs today can not answer that simple question for me. If I can't see myself playing an MMO for years, why bother investing any of my time at all?

It's not like I don't have anything else to occupy my time :)

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

All the money to be made in this game is through the cash shop, so the entry price is irrelevant really.   The end game is the cash shop or go crazy, take your pick.
