Don't worry folks, I'm sure once they get the cash shop transfers properly in place you'll be able to transfer to any region you wish, just be patient, and get ready to pull out your wallets.
These transfers ARE in the cash shop - they're already in the cash shop menu except not active yet - they will be free for a limited time once turned on. So yeah, no surprise there.

It's not the first time that their twitter guy has got something wrong. He has messed up several things like no pre-download for the open beta, the wrong release times, etc. - not really a reliable source even if he should be.
The regional restriction for transfers is a bit weird but the only source that said that it would also be cross-regional was that twitter guy.

It was an honest communication mistake. Lies are when you give out the wrong information knowing that it's wrong. That would be a different thing not to mention dumb.

What a sad existence when you just sit and wait for something so many people are enjoying to fail. It's an awesome game despite flaws, you're missing out. But good luck getting your jollies out of hoping it falls down.
So many haters on these forums lol. Seriously missing out on an excellent MMO so far. Can it be better? Of course.
It's all on Amazon for this game to fail, by releasing it too early and half finished.
There is some fun stuff in the game, granted, but that isn't going to save this game longterm when everything around PVE endgame and PVP in general is starting to fall apart, when people get beyond said honymoon phase.
There is a reason why we got a honymoon phase in MMO's. It's the trial phase of an MMO and when it manages to keep enough players engaged after the honymoon phase is over, said MMO will be on the right track longetivity wise.
But seeing the current situation right now and heavy drop in player numbers already. Mostly because of extremely lopsided factions on many servers, where a single faction has wiped out the other two.
The fact that they haven't even anticipated this from happening and not having any mitigation in place, should be telling enough that they are totally clueless about faction PVP and how to do it properly. There is so many historical data and examples from old games like DAoC, Warhammer Online, etc they could have learned from. Instead they made all the same mistakes.
So I am not too hopeful for this game. Especially if the current drop in player numbers continues to the point in that Amazon HQ doesn't seem it worth it anymore and pulls the plug, like they did with all their other failing projects.
If NW is 1/2 finished what percentage of complete we’re all those other mmorpg’s at release? Because most of them seemed to be more incomplete to me.

You seem certain that when he said it he did not if it was true or not ..
Now noone from Amazon would ever lie to to the public for monetary gains ...
There is currently simply no incentive nor any mitigations in place for losing factions to bother and fight back. The faction with the highest active member count dominates.
It's really ridiculous that these devs have learned absolutely nothing from past games and made these same old stupid mistakes.
I'm curious, given the PvP battles have a set time and a set limit of 50v50. Wouldn't the losing faction only need to put together a group of 50 endgame players and have a pretty even chance of taking back territory?
I always thought it would be a good design. As opposed to fully open-world games where you have the whole map zerg capture points to oblivion with no hope for the small groups to maintain territory.

Nothing is certain but when I see their official twitter account post the wrong information several times my first thought is that the low level peon that handles twitter engagement for them needs to get more clued in, not that Bezos himself is deliberately lying lol.

You also have cities and they are controlled in how many PVE/PVP faction missions each faction completes to keep control of said city. This is bad design honestly, as it heavily favors the faction with highest active member count. Hence why they can flip cities and territory so quickly and wipe out the other two factions.
The only mitigation they currently have in place is that your existing character cannot switch to a dominating faction. But seeing how quickly people level, it apparently doesn't stop players from outright deleting their character and reroll a new one to join the dominating faction that way. Which people seem to be doing in droves, seeing how many servers seem to go the same direction with a single dominating faction.

New characters can join whoever they wish. It's only when you change factions with a character that was already in a different one that those prohibitions kick in.

How are people rerolling and joining the dominating faction of your not allowed to join the dominating faction?
You are not allowed to change to a dominating faction, if you are already in one.
But even if they start blocking new characters in joining a dominating faction, then new players simply won't join these servers anymore, where two factions have been wiped out by one dominating faction.
That is just typical player mentality. No one wants to join the losing faction (especially one that has been wiped out), unless there are "real" incentives/benefits in doing so. Which there aren't in this game. They give you zero reasons to join a losing faction.

That's a simple fix then isn't it?
As for player mentality not sure dev should even try fighting against that beyond some simple obvious fixes like this one as players will always find a way to game the system and if peeps stop plaything cause of that then hopefully the door hits them on the arse on the way out.

The game has only been up for a week or so, why transfer when you could just create a new character on the server you want? Have you made so much progress in the few days the game has been live that you simply *must* preserve it?
If you delete your existing toon, and create a new one with the same name on a different server, how much have you really lost? 10 days of play time?
Hard to get too worked up over that, for me.
The game has been up for almost two weeks now in fact.
The fast leveling also contributes to the game's current problems. The moment you are on a losing faction that is being wiped out, one just deletes his/her character and rolls a new one to join the winning faction or goes to a different server where his/her favorite faction is the dominating one.
So it won't be long until there isn't much PVP left and we are stuck with the majority of servers having one single dominating faction, where the other two are wiped out. It's already happening on many servers, including the two I am currently on.

Again we are back to why transfers are not a a panacea and I just cannot fathom why gaming journalists were not all over that when it was announced. We know transfers have issues solving anything, this has all happened before, even when they are the only solution for say low population servers it never goes without a hitch.
They need to have something like a server reset for factions or the game will have long term problems, my concern is they did not realise this and are only just seeing this could be an issue now. So it will take a long time for any solution to be put in place.
They have to backpeddle fr the region transfers, that's just not an acceptable change. They'd have to have announced it day 1, else at least the first free transfer should be allowed cross-regions.
Considering how much can go WRONG with such a feature, it's the only wise decision to delay it if there's any doubt about it.
Seeing the situation right now, if they wait another week or two, they won't have to offer server transfers anymore and instead start merging low pop servers.
That doesn't make much sense. If someone is ready to leave because they can't get a transfer within a week or two they don't really like the game and lack patience and maturity. If that's a valid reason to quit, then they'd likely have left the game sooner than later. And that's not a good paradigm to make business or game design decisions around.
The solution is that once one side begins to dominate, unrest begins to appear in the territory they control. The more territory they control, the more unrest there is. Other factions can also do "unrest" quests to further inflame the oppressed territory.
Hordes of NPC's begin attacking, Corruption spreads, and eventually it goes into nightmare mode where the faction that owns the territory *IS* going to lose it. And they can't regain it until 7 days pass.

DAOC in its hey day had 20k on a server , big difference from a meager 2 k .. 2k is not enough .. Barely constitutes an MMO for RvR imo
Leveling was also much slower so Frointiers was a very slow game in the beginning ...
Also the fact part of NW premier RvR is locked to hand selected 50vs50 glorified Battleground..
And the Frontier in DAOC may be bigger than the entire world of NW .. where thousnads of players could participate in RvR spread across a vast region full of Keeps and CPs

Each RvR Frontier map was its own zone, in the "core" parts of the realm there was no pvp. Controlled frontier zones were only held until another realm could take a single keep which would only have a few npc defenders if the holders were not there to defend it, it could be attacked at any time by any number of a faction.
When a faction got too strong the other two factions would form an alliance which helped mitigate the problem but not solve it. Buffs for being the leading faction were notable but not overpowering.
NW is not set up in the same way as DAOC so it is a different attempt at a RvR MMO, it has small elements of Asheron's Call and Age of Conan in the pvp. From what I gather about NW RvR has never been done exactly this way. So there will be issues, it is just a matter of how long they take to identify them and sort them out. Is there any indication that the developers realise yet that the pvp needs some work? That will give you some idea of how long it will take for changes to be made.

I was being sarcastic! Seeing how the populations on many servers are already dropping.
My two servers were HIGH and full, with 700+ queues each day until last week. Now since this week they down to MEDIUM with zero queues in prime time. You can see it on a lot of other servers too. Hardly any EU server has queues anymore, compared to just a week ago.
No new servers have been added since week 1 and I hardly doubt they suddenly just removed the server caps.
The honymoon phase is over. Clearly.
And seeing the massive faction imbalance issues on many servers, I think Amazon devs are literally worried and scared to offer free server transfers right now and make the situation even worse than it already is. Not to mention all the mass auto banning that has (and still is) taking place (hilarious).
They will have to find a solution first (if they able to), so lot of servers don't end up with a single dominating faction, with PVP dead in the water, due to no one being left in the other two factions.
When RvR matches no longer pop. When PVP is practically dead on a server. With no PVE endgame content. People will have nothing left to do in this game. Literally. /Shrug
