you won't have to wait that long honestly. the main thing holding it back right now is server meshing and the new renderer, both of which are being worked on heavily with an attempt to get them finished for end of this year early next. Apart from the economy simulation called Quantum there are no other core tech pieces that still need to be completed. everything they add after that is comparatively easy to implement.
The gen12 renderer this year is more realistic. But the server mesh is already a Q2 2022 at the earliest. Quantum it's unknown the backend has some implementations but I imagine after server mesh, considering the AI is not coping with the current server tick rates to face increased complexity before those much needed improvements implement.

But yeah those show to be of the last major development milestones to be achieved, with all of those being in the works for years already this next year will be a big tell on how they'll come together.
Yes I was thinking of the Entity Graph which will allow the servers to actually save entity state and unload the data from the server when not needed. That alone should reduce load on the servers significantly though which should help performance.

Yep it's more that as lead network guy posted on the forums a lot of this work on network even though it's finished pre-mesh it's mostly work that won't have any impact on the current state of things, it's implemented but the new systems will only work to their potential once the rest merges in together.  So we're up for some waiting there, it's a huge one to be able to play without the gameserver haunting you lol

Anyone here think we may in the future see our boy Babuinix make a post as to SC having raised $500 million and still an alpha?

It will be ready when it's ready!

I'd love to know what would happen if CR croaked.  Would they finally get some integrity?

Some people seem to be enamored more with the money involved than with the state of the game......

You betcha, while laughing at all of those who say it's going to collapse any time now. B)

Someone who actually cared about the state of the game would have tried it by now :D

As development goes, next patch introduces full looting to go along with  actual death consequences (you lose all your equipped stuff). That ties in with medical/healing gameplay, new inventory management system along with bombing runs.

I read that they are taking the moneys from the fundraising pledges and sending significant (7 figures) straight to “investors”.

    That’s nuts.

Whoever told you that is pulling it directly out of their ass. They release their financials publicly every year.

ok so they paid out dividends totaling just over 1 million that they were legaly required to pay out. I stand corrected but what is the issue here? They brought in the most money they ever had in 2020 and as a result their income was higher than expenditure for that year. Obviously they would need to pay dividends based on the the amount over expenditure they were. Welcome to...any business that has investors ever?

Many major companies do not pay dividends, particularly growing tech companies.

"Newer companies, or those in the technology space, often opt instead to re-direct profits back into the company for growth and expansion, so they do not pay dividends. Rather, this reinvestment of retained earnings is often reflected in a rising share price and capital gains for investors."
