I guess it wasn't much of a mystery after some folks called this. So now Lost Ark has competition, Gamigo or Amazon, who will fail the hardest as a publisher?

As a player that have been playing a gamigo game for very long time (last chaos), they are really bad and full p2w.

This exact mix of features has been pitched a million times over, yet no one has ever managed to bring it to market.

Cash shop makes it a hard pass. I wish articles here would lead with how it is monetized so I can save myself the time.

I hope its true the only MMO I kickstartered because it just looked so interesting so glad to see that I didn't pick one that will wallow in development but did it have to be Gamingo

Edit: "Dynamight retains ownership of the IP and creative control over Fractured Online"

There exact wording. So I will keep my fingers crossed but not hoping for much

Agreed. I'm a Kickstarter too and am quite disappointed with this announcement. Time will tell I guess

This is just my speculation, but I would guess that they have an agreement to at least start with the business model that Dynamight promised.  If the game is a runaway success under that model, then Gamigo would be happy to leave it in place forever.

If the game flops, then it will turn into a choice of pulling the plug or letting Gamigo try to salvage it by changing the business model to one less that is less player-friendly.  There will be tremendous pressure on the developers to agree to the latter, as the alternative will be shutting down the game and laying everyone off.

After all, what Gamigo really wants is to make money, and "pay to win" is just a way to make money.  If they thought they'd make more money by converting all of their games to buy to play or subscription or whatever, then they'd do it.  If a game can prove that it's highly profitable under some particular business model, then they'll want to let it keep being highly profitable under that model so that they can keep making good money.

Lost in all the noise about evil Gamigo (I've never dealt with them so I'll take your word about the evil) is the fact that an indie KS MMO got picked up by a publisher... that's not something that happens every day.

So you're saying that vaporware games aren't pay to win?

I’ve never done business with Gamigo either.

Fracture certainly does look like a game I’d personally be willing to sub for, if it meets my expectations, which is a spiritual successor to UO.

It’s up to Gamigo to lose me. I’m the type that doesn’t have a problem moving on when things get sour.

Hard to find a game that has been bought out that does not say this exact same thing.

Also hard to find one that this was true after a while...

I highly doubt that they would fork over cash and not have some major clauses in the contracts about who really calls the shots from now on. And has the ownership of the IP and such.  But I doubt that we will ever see the contract either :P

What I do think is that there was some reasons that they will launch as they said they would in KS, get their box prices, then within a few months go to a FTP system like their other games.

I've been lightly following the Fractured development for a couple of years.

Mostly because of their focus on less vertical progression (I will always refuse to call it "horizontal" :) ) and their unique approach to PvP / PvE separation with 3 different systems depending on which racial area you choose to spend most of your time in.

No clue if their approach will work and keep different types of players happy but at least they're trying something new.

I'll continue to keep an eye on it casually.

Think what you will of Gamigo but this is probably the best chance Fractured has to not become like Legends of Aria that just sits forgotten on Steam.

Over the years I wondered if their team of 6 people(?) would be able to even pull off launching the game but with this extra publisher support there's now a 100% chance.

The question now is what does Gamigo have in mind for the game? Do they plan to copy Albion monetization with their currency exchange market(gold) or POE focusing heavy on cosmetics/housing/inventory? Will be interesting to see what happens.

Gamigo is at the helm, no one should worry.

They will be very transparent with their players and never lie to them. It's going to be buy once and play forever, no paid DLC. They'll never add pay 2 win to the game. They are already making plans to give the game a nice "sequel", Fractured Unchained.

I'm interested because they have a lifetime subscription.
I have to say, that worked out well for me in LOTRO, not so well with The Secret World.

Anyways, $400 for a lifetime (as opposed to $10,000.00) for Pantheon, puts it just at the brink of my comfort level.

I may roll the dice on this one.
Did you playtest it already? Because another LoTRO this isn’t.
