For those that may not be aware, Mortal Online 2 is set to launch on January 25th, 2022. With mere days until the game goes live, Star Vault is gearing up for their last week of testing, which begins on January 18th, where a full wipe of the servers will be performed, as they deploy their new server setup.

    As I said before:

After the fiasco that was MO1, I think they should have learned to launch a full and complete game. They are once again launching with incomplete systems and content. The only question is how much is missing.

Without the ability to try and see it’s current state there’s simply no way I can buy this blind. Fool me once and all that…

I dont really understand it. I know a lot of games get their last few patches ready for launch but it sounds crazy to me they have untested hardware and server configurations going into testing in their last week.

Can't even imagine expecting a final testing phase a week before launch. Most studios run stress tests or open betas for a while to get this kinda stuff ready.

What you mentioned is pretty much the "MO" of the Starvault team, half baked and raring to go.

Cool, 3 comments from 3 people that apparently have never played the game, despite multiple free stress tests etc, declaring a game a failure a week before launch despite it having 76% positive recent reviews (only people who've bought it since it went into EA on Steam a couple months ago, so hardcore fans not included) on Steam:

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/1170950/Mortal_Online_2/

Also concurrent population only increasing over time since going into EA, despite everyone being aware nothing matters and a wipe is incooming:

    https://steamcharts.com/app/1170950#1m

Are these signs of a broken incomplete dumpster fire? Maybe check it out before you decide to declare it DOA. Steam has a 2 hour refund window, go nuts.

Steam is showing Mortal Online II to be in early access to me, not in a fully released state, just as Slapshot1188 claimed. Is the Steam page for the game inaccurate?

"launch" Edit: I tested the game multiple times, and even though I should be the target audience, most of those recommendations must be from the people who played the equally mediocre first game. The devs went over their head with the first game, admitted it and now basically replicate most of it with nicer graphics. Game is one of the emptiest sandboxes you can play in and I feel the feedback being taken in is only that of the most hardcore MO1 guys.

Agreed with comments here. I've followed StarVaults journey since 2006 or so, but decided to play Darkfall Online made by Aventurine at the time of their launches in 2009. Both games had similar journeys and I am very surprised that Mortal Online is still going, because lets face it, it has always been a half-baked mess and nothing has really been good. What made Darkfall stand out for me compared to any MMORPG ever created, was the combat and how it handled large scale, because that is something it did really well. What Mortal Online is doing extremely poorly is basically that of combat... It's so slow and sluggish... In an era where combat is getting faster and faster (I do not necessarily support it, but you have to follow the mass), it is bound to fail.

I've also been part of a beta to confirm the lack of content in the world. The world just feel empty and always has.

I want a game like this to succeed, but I don't think Mortal Online 2 is it. I don't think they have what it takes.

I hear Rise of Agon is doing fairly well, even though it is niche.
Played it at launch and for a bit, but it was more nostalgia than anything. The fundamentals was never completed and is still not there. Last update was March last year.

Or people that DID play the game in the testing period like me.  That last testing period was a LONG time ago and was a mess.  Not unexpected as it was a stress test... but it was a mess and had blatantly unfinished systems and content.

The reviews you refer to number a whopping 390... with a whopping total of 831 all time.  It's ALL-TIME peak was 1185 players...  You literally just showed evidence that only the niche of the niche are playing.  That's fine because  that is the target, but lets not use 300 reviews as some kind of proof of anything.

You DO know that the entire territory control system and sieging is "coming after launch" right?  You DO know that entire game systems like "Thievery" is coming after launch right?

Now that said, I certainly do not declare the game DOA (yes, some do), but I strongly believe that after how badly they fucked up MO1, they should have learned and FINISHED the game before launching.  At a bare minimum they should open up the week before launch as a free test.  They don't have to, but they have zero chance of seeing a dime from me without it.

I've heard that the player base is toxic and racist. That there's some guilds who require proof of ethnicity just to join them. Tell me I'm wrong. I think I'll just stay away from this game.

Except that the MO2 developers are going to cry to get at least 10% of the actual NW player base ;)

And you're right, I'm sure those friends of @Scorchien he bragged about who worked to exploit the hell out of NW are just going to be happy to have a new target to ruin.

I have no idea why anyone is even excited for this.

As someone who plays ffa full loot pvp games I would pick literally any survival ffa pvp game over this garbage. Day Z, Conan: Exiles, Rust, Ark, etc. They all stand head and shoulders over this junk.

It's boring. Has the most unintuitive, idiotic crafting system I have ever seen. The combat is god awful. The world is empty. The devs are a joke.

I dont know. Since it received so much hate I decided to test it and lol, I actually kinda like it. Not sure about the sub model, as I dont think it has much to offer to warrant a sub, but apart from that..

Perhaps the fact it doesn't have much content to warrant a sub or even bother playing is the reason it garners so much shade?

I think that is part of it.  It's basically MO1 with a graphical overhaul but somewhere along the way they have lost a chunk of content such as the sieging, territory control and even character development like Thievery.

Some people will "hate" it because its a PvP game.  But others like PvP, yet want something to do other than roam in murder bands.   THOSE are the folks that I think will find disappointment here.  But who knows... we find out in a week.

i played MO1 a bit and it just wasn't good. Graphics, netcode, combat.. But i have now over 1k hours in MO2 and it's just so much fun. It's still a niche game but no game out there that has the immersion and fun encounters this game can offer.
I can understand that ppl say it's not finished, because it isn't. But keep in mind that there is just a small indie dev team from sweden behind this and what they put together already is just awesome. 100+ players combat with good performance and no major dupes/bugs like NW had.
This game will never be finished but if you know how a sandbox game works and if you can find fun in this kind of game, the monthly sub is every cent worth it.

How much of MO1 is in MO2?

MO2 is like a better version of MO1. So the world, combat, crafting is all the same but much much better.

Some people seem to think the fact the game does not seem to be launch ready has something to do with the way MO do things. This is where we are now guys, more and more games especially MMOs and anything indie are releasing in an EA stage and calling it a launch. We did call this then EA came out, you can't create a method of moving the goal posts in game development and expect it not to be exploited.

For those who say they like MO2 better, I'm curious how the combat has supposedly improved because I'm hearing from several people that it feels roughly the same.
