I will sell my right testical if they do not make COD and there games non- excluisve. Words are empty. Its easy for people to lie.

What it could have been too was... "You can have COD if you put Gamepass on playstation."

It was leaked that Phil Spencer has still not given up on getting Gamepass on Sony or Nintendo consoles. That way if next June if Sony declines the offer they can look like the good guys.

"See we were going to give you COD, Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, etc... but Sony said no Gamepass and we are only bringing our games to devices that support Gamepass."

In the end the only thing that matters is what would bring them more money. Sony has been banking on exclusives for a long time. It is fair to say Microsoft will try the same. Microsoft confirmed that they didn't turn to profit on Xbox (the whole selling hardware at a loss while making money on the sale of games and services). So it depends if this move would help with that, or not. If not, then they will probably expand to more platforms to profit. And also it has been speculated (and maybe even confirmed I can't remember) that Microsoft is preparing for a future without consoles. So I guess we have to see how it would unfold.

My bet is we'll see at least one generation of Activision/Blizzard exclusives, just as it has been confirmed with Bethesda's games and other studios they bought.

I don't think Xbox will move away from consoles. To me that makes little sense. I don't get why you buy all of these companies just to dismantle the xbox and go 3rd party yourself. I think the consoles though will be less of the focal point and just be another gamepass machine. I also think that deals like this and others, when they come, will push people to buy an xbox as well. There as some people who just don't want to game on a PC. Its why consoles sell so well.

There are plenty of people who just play COD that will now, presumably, buy an xbox to continue that. I think Xbox no longer making consoles is a fools thought though, no offense, I think if Xbox did fail it would be after the next generation. I think this generation will be laying the ground work for the next one. As the next generation will be when all these companies they just bought will be in full swing. Releasing games, at hopefully, a pretty good click. They are aiming for a major gamepass game ever quarter or less than that.

I think if the next generation tanks even after all these strides I think Xbox may go under but the Xbox right now is selling better than any Xbox previously. I don't think they are going to dump in that fast.

I wasn't my thought mate, I remember an interview with a Microsoft exec about how in future they will move away from hardware. I remember him saying they were planning for such a future. I can find the interview later if you want. That statement is vague, so that could mean anything. When I mentioned it, I didn't mean this generation, not even the next. Who knows if that ever even happens.

Besides that, I agree with you. My only thought is they will follow money. No reason to stop selling hardware when it is profitable, then again no reason to keep on doing it when it's not. Lots of FPS players preferred Xbox in previous generations because of Halo. If you add Call of Duty to it, and ES6 and Starfield, bunch of smaller titles, it will have a decent amount of exclusives for people to choose it. They don't need to "win" the sales, they just need to have a decent profit.

Exclusives are all about close ended hardware and/or artificial ecosystems.

I would love to see Microsoft be a big boy and offer Sony and the Playstation access to Gamepass.

I have no real insights, but if I had to wager, I would bet that MS is saying the right stuff for PR about being friends and competition, ect., but I would wager that hyper competitive corporate types are probably still seething over the way Sony dunked on them with the Xbox One release.  I'm pretty mellow and I would be butt-hurt to this day over the game sharing thing.

    I don’t know…

Microsoft originally started manufacturing consoles so they could get big time into gaming and Sony got into making games so they could protect their hardware.

     Imagine if they worked together?

Edit: I bet originally that Sony was too greedy so MS decided to make their own console.

This is what I've been trying to say about the PlayStation exclusives where Microsoft is concerned. Microsoft is not banking on exclusives. They're banking on tying your game access to an Xbox game account, not necessarily GamePass at this point anyway.

Just like Ubisoft and Take2 are doing with a lot of their games. In order to play some Ubisoft games you must login to your Ubisoft account, or if on another platform like Xbox or PlayStation connect it to Ubisoft Connect. In order to get the full experience from Borderlands 3, Gearbox requires you to sign into your SHIFT account. The same thing for some EA games. Right now some of those are optional and some aren't. The account option is going to become less optional going forward.

This is the main reason why ES6 and Starfield aren't coming to PlayStation. Sony isn't interested in letting Microsoft into their walled garden at this point. I think that may change, but maybe not. If it did then I could definitely see ES6 and other Microsoft platforms games being sold on PlayStation just like they are on Steam.

This is why there are now some Xbox games on Switch. https://www.lifewire.com/how-xbox-live-on-nintendo-switch-works-4692845

The walled garden is burned into Sony’s soul.

Every decision is based on protecting and growing their hardware market share and their proprietary ecosystem.

Their whole historic business model is based on it.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

I remember my brother got his first calculator, it was about 15 lbs and on wheels. It only lasted about two month and started a fire and almost burned the house down, lucky we were able to put it out because their were no fire departments back then.

That's how old I am........ Also no one knew how to spell.

Skyrim is still being sold on PlayStation store despite claims in that very reddit thread that Bethesda games were removed from the store. Some titles will be available and some won't just like I can't play Spiderman or Uncharted on Xbox GamePass. Much of the Xbox PC catalog is also available on Steam and Sony or their close partners have started releasing some previously exclusive titles there as well.. PlayStation owners should be used to exclusives so I'm not sure why there is so much hand wringing over this.
I haven't really any rumours but Bethesda has been pretty clear that ES6 and Starfield won't ever come to PlayStation
This is really up to Sony as to whether they will allow interop with their competitors. What was said is that Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be integrated with the Xbox Gaming account which is what GamePass and a lot of their in house titles require. So, if a platform allows Xbox account integration, like Steam does, then it will come to that platform and if it doesn't then it won't. If Sony decides to allow Xbox Account integration on their platform, like do with Ubisoft Connect, then things could change. Spencer said this is not specifically about Sony, but the fact that they won't allow that on their platform. The ball for cross platform interop is in Sony's court.
Cross platform play is for the games that are already available. There are a lot of games which do have cross platform between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Exclusives are a very different deal. Some times exclusives are timed, but they have been pretty clear about ES6 and Starfield, they will never be on PlayStation as they put it they are important titles and there a reason they bought the company. This isn't in Sony's court, just like Xbox not getting Spider-Man isn't in Microsoft's court.

I didn't understand what you meant by account integration. I mean my Ubisoft and PS accounts are linked but I'm not getting my PC games from Ubisoft on PS, I'd have to buy them again. So that won't affect exclusives in any way.

Edit: sorry I think you meant the integration of subscription accounts, like using Netflix on PlayStation, for Game Pass as well. I'm not sure even that is on the table, or ever was, or ever will lol. I think what PS users can hope for is an equivalent version at best, which is the Project Spartacus.

    It is not hard. But,

Exclusives are better games in some aspects. When they are being made exclusively for a specific console, then they can take advantage of that console's power and features in full. Even PC exclusive games got better controls and graphics, otherwise graphics get a bit dumbed down so it won't reflect console version as a lesser version, and they can't make stuff too complicated to control so console players can play it with a controller.

Oh no, what will be the future of the amazing games they have been producing in the last decade like Hearthstone, Overwatch or Diablo Immortal...

The only thing Blizz shares with the once great company is the name.

The first two will carry on I expect, bringing in whatever money they do. Diablo Immortal will be released so that people can at least mock the game rather than the early stages of it, if they even have that much direct knowledge.

Then there is my main prospective interest, DIV.

How great any of that is depends on one's taste. In my view Hearthstone was alright, Overwatch I never tried being not my thing, and I don't have a portable device and it didn't work with the emulators I have, so I can't offer an opinion on it.

DIV I expect to be beyond the capacity of my computer, so the hope I'm holding out for it will almost certainly be lost in the end.

I really am interested in what becomes of Blizz as a subsidiary of Microsoft,  I have real concerns about how this will end .. I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure..
82% Annual Return for 18 years... yeah, that is a grandslam... congrats.

I want to somehow get Big Daddy Gates to make a Starcraft MMORPG and also a action game... only releasing a RTS every 10-20 years is such a waste of a great IP  :'(

Yeah I just don't think they will. Even Phil Spencer has said that he believes Playstations on Gamepass will follow there model even releasing games day 1. I think him wanting gamepass on PS is key though to keeping CoD on PS. I think its why he said they had a good talk and they would like to keep CoD on PS.

FYI, Sony responded by buying Bungie.

We now live in a world where Microsoft owns Sony's mascots, and Sony owns the studio who made Microsoft's mascot. Wild.
