Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided finally complete (MMORPG Press)
In an unlikely turn of events, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) - SNE (NYSE) issued a press release, that after decades, their massively multiplayer online game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided has been finally completed. "It is a great sense of acomplishment", commented John Smedley, CEO of SOE, "and it feels strange, knowing that we'll no longer need to work on this product". Both players have also rejoiced at the prospect of finally having a stable gaming experience, where it will no longer be necessary to re-learn everything on a weekly basis.

Next day...
"Upon reflection, we decided this complete game wasn't Starwarzy and iconic enough, and now plan to impliment the nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnge. Thanks for buying that last expansion a week ago that will be obsolete, I needed a new porsche" - J. Beezlebub Smedley

I'd honestly wait until the end of this year before checking the game out, or once Smedley comes out and says his game is now playable again (he has stated in a forum posting to the community the game was not where it should be, and not at a satisfactory level, which does not neccessarily inspire customer confidence, when the seller says his product sucks.)
Smedly is not the manage of the SWG team. He is the president of SOE. He would have relatively little say in the day to day workings of the team - though would likely be involved in large decisions like the NGE. As such, it is not even remotely HIS game and they certainly aren't HIS publish plans. I know you are desperate to blame somebody for SWG, and Smedly is ultimately the one who should be held responsible by virtue of being at the highest level, but please don't attribute things to him just so you can blame him MORE.
Originally posted by Squidi Originally posted by Sudsmcgee Well, I'm a big fan of anything Star Wars and I heard some things about this game. One being how it got screwed. So I really want to play a Star Wars game like this so I'm just wondering, how long do you guys think it will take for things to settle out and get better? Also any new news on the whole SWG being bought by a new company? Thanks
If you weren't there from the beginning, you will likely enjoy the game. The people who talk about how the game got screwed are people who had the game change on them against their will and think that somehow, the developers owe them something for those two years of playing. The game, in its current state, is in much better condition than it was a few months ago. In my personal opinion, it has turned a corner with publish 28 and is entirely playable and enjoyable - if you arent' an old fart with an axe to grind.
SWG was not bought by another company. Period.
Ya know Squidi.. After having numerous back and forths with you i am begining to notice one thing. You seem to constantly bring up the "Vets think they are owed something" everytime. You dont speak for us vets. You dont speak for me. So when you "generalize", do it for yourself only ok.
