The Steam reviews show a lot of NA folks find themselves unable to compete in PvP due to ping issues, and SV obstinately refusing to reconsider their plan got only one server located in Europe.

This has all the makings of a game that will only ever limp along barely making end's meet.  I have to agree with Slapshot that they should know better considering they're releasing essentially a new version of the game they already created.

that's incorrect. I live in Phoenix and I don't have ping / pvp issues.
What is incorrect?  Does your supposed perfect ping from Phoenix negate everyone elses experience?

Isn't it common sense that if the servers are in Europe and you're playing from the US you would have high ping. Why would you have to prove that, it is normal and not astonishing to have that. You always pick the place closest to you when you're relying on attacks to land and connect.  Really silly thing to dispute.

The best I've ever seen pings from EU that I can recall have been at about 130-150ms when pinging servers like Hell Let Loose servers (and my internet here in FL maintains something like 13 times the download/upload averages for the U.S.).  Those servers only handle 100 players maximum, for reference.

Trying to connect to an EU server that thousands are playing on simultaneously, one where you can have hundreds of players in the same local area....  Just not gonna work with current technology.

alancode was the one claiming he has a wormhole in his router that plugs directly into Mortal Online's servers so he doesn't get any lag, and therefore lag doesn't exist for anyone else in the USA.

There isn't another server, there is only 1 and it's located in the UK, so there isn't an option to choose a closer server.

I played the game for 10 minutes, but the lag was so bad I just ended up refunding it.
I seem to recall you dislike PvP... or at the very least... the type of PvP one would find in Mortal Online II.

What caused you to give it a look?

For me, it was just because I got into the beta... probably because my email was still in some database from MO1.

This game is dogs**t. I love PVP MMO games (UO, Asheron's Call Darktide, Darkfall, DAOC, etc veteran) and this is just a half baked mess that needs another couple of years of development time.

Haven't seen this bad of a launch in a long time, but the game has fundamental flaws besides that. Great ideas in terms of the skill system, morality system, combat etc but awful execution

Yes , that is quite the Moral victory , and how far we have fallen from " This is the best game since AC and UO "   to at least  "they got a meaningless , inconsequential , trivial forum feature to work"...   Ironic that they can get very little to actually work in there game ..

They reconfirmed that there will only be one server (doubling down on the original vision). That single server can only handle like 5k players max.  :D

The game sits at mixed (46% on steam) and is on its way to dipping into negative. I wonder if they realize how bad this looks for their game?

Few can actually play and its been 10 days since launch.

The usual rough waters of launching mmo's. Hope the release get them.enough momentum to continue iterating as the game has a fresh aproach to the genre.

Rollbacks are by no means the "usual" rough waters.
I remember players complaining about issues in games from AoC to ESO and saying "Look we used to get roll-backs, this is nothing". Lessons are not being learnt as they say.

10ms average ping from Paris (so less than 30ms in whole Europe I guess) versus 150ms or more in the US of A... in a Full loot PvP game with action combat.

No, no, there's absolutely no advantage ;)

EDIT: BTW, the reason why I have New World on hold for now is on the bottom of the previous page, for some reason you may have missed it.

So many days and why are people sitting in a queue for so long?

    From Steam

Just wanted to add my voice to everything that's been said already. Do not buy this game in it's current state. Only a few lucky people will be able to leave the starting tutorial zone, the rest are stuck eternally in the queue.
Developers promise to fix it, but talking is cheap it's been a week and so far there's been no improvement to this situation.

Be more responsible with your purchases than i was. Buy a fully functioning working product, not a broken one with a promise to fix it.

Its been 10 days since release but i could play just for couple of hours , As their server have big problem and you have to wait 10 hours sometimes more than 24 hours to get into game . And you dont get any definite answer from DEVs saying when all will be settled up .

So till all sort out stay away from this game . Playing hours for this game is not correct cos it shows how long you waited in queue to get into game . Biggest disaster in game history IMO.

Great bones, but the horrendous ping for NA players made PVP absolutely unplayable. Can't even tell who's attacking me or when the hit will land. Sometimes it doesn't even animate anything. Would play in a heartbeat if an NA server came out, otherwise, never again.

Unless you wanna wait a whole day and night in a Queue with the slightest of hopes to get in and play the game - all while the Queue Screen is eating away at your GPU, don't bother buying this game, just save your hard earned money and move along.

What the hell why release a game in this state.

My observation is that in most games they have as robust or frequently even more robust of a PvP population as the US servers.

We are too coddled and cannot take losing.

At least we now know why there was no open test period in the run up to launch.
Also, it seems that the owner cashed out some of his stock before launch.  That tells me something.

Just think of the long queues, huge ping, and crashes as the first step of PvP. You have to PvP to get into the game to play. You are fighting for ping with everybody else, trying to get in the q first, etc. Sounds like PvP to me o:)

So the French can handle PvP because they're accustomed to losing?
Where are you going with this line of reasoning, Slapshot?

(Tosses conversational hand grenade into the room and ducks out)
Honestly not sure of the reasons... but just look at New World when it opened.  The EU PvP servers were massive.

I plan to give them a month to get things sorted and what have you.. and then check them out.

Should be a fun venture, I was not a fan of Mortal, but, that was more an issue with not wanting to deal with Open World PvP.

I figure if I play with a IDGAF attitude and just roll it like DDO's permadeath where I am just tossing out throwaways to see how long I can last, it should be a bit more fun.

Still gonna wait a month for them to settle down a bit.

If you have patience and are willing to join a guild to back you up you can clearly wait for some weeks.

Or do it like I do and casually play in haven, get some skills up, test some weapons and enjoy playing without queue.

The game will be interesting the earliest in a few weeks when alliances have been built and politics will get more.
