Of course they disappear like farts in the wind when there is nothing to defend.

    LOL not really...

it is not about the final delivery but roadmap. Roadmap are never a promise but an estimated during development phase.

Many update have been done, quarterly indeed and more will be done during the next year.

The ships with hundreds $ value can be achieve in game with credits. Those pledging more than the basic 45/35^starter package know what they are doing. It is a crowdfunded model:
Deliver when done. Not having 3 quarters ahead of features than will be moved or replaced make no sense.

Again all of them will be delivered eventually and those not understanding the meaning of crowdfunded or that 10+ years are required to make two triple-A from scratch should just wait on the fence.

CIG do allow all to test/play their latest build several weeks per year for free. Best transparency ever when Publishers do release crap without any reviews, despite making billions $ every single year. A decade of Publishers revenues making what CIG got in 9 years but every 2 weeks and half... where is the SC clone with all bells and whistles?

There are none and beside CIG, no companies is planning to do so as quick profit with minimum effort is what they are looking for only.

In the last 4 months SC has raised nearly 50 mill. I think everything will be just fine. Probably a good change to the roadmap. Less accountability unfortunately but hopefully the ignorance is bliss strategy works. Every few months SC gets better and better. It still has a long way and is past due, however I would prefer to still invest and be apart of it. Even though its taking years...I would rather it take too long over it never being attempted.

Smh. Lots of comments from people who don't play the game. The roadmap change is a good one and it didn't tick off everyone. Just a very vocal amount of the toxic sludge that's on the official forums. And of course YouTubers love to make cash off of stuff like this. People like myself are happy with the change because it will cut down on the angsty 'why didn't this get included in this" patch posts that always follow a release. Half of my friends who play Star Citizen didn't even know there was a digital roadmap and most of them don't even visit the official forums either due to the toxicity. They just get in game and play. Which is what more of these whiny cry babies need to do. And if you haven't played Star Citizen, you really have no idea how good it is. It's actually quite incredible. Every single person I've introduced to the game has kept on playing it. Regardless of the bugs and the missing features...you can see the progress with every patch.

CIG said they're changing the way they roadmap is showcased to make it easier to understand that the further projections are the less accurate they will be. The usual dramaqueens think it's the end of the world and haters push their FUD while CIG makes another million, again lol

    Business as usual :D

    Lets look at it financially....

They rake in money hand over fist based on nothing but hope and dreams, allowing Roberts and his many, many family employees to become millionaires several times over.

If the product ever gets to a release stage they will have to deliver on promises and advertising and produce a product that is good otherwise it will fold and their golden goose is dead.

So why on earth would they EVER release the product when they can feature creep it to infinity and beyond and live like kings on the hopes of the stupid people.

Technically the long term road map is still there, just the quarterly release view is getting slimmed down. There are items of the progress tracker that go way out. Issue is the progress tracker does not show items to completion but just hoe long a particular team will be working on an item. That's not really the worst part in fact the change is probably good as it will more accurately show what's up. The worst part is what the described as the reason. They blamed the most passionate fans. That's not good. If worded better this would have been fine

The most passionate fans are toxic af.

It really seems more like the people that knew what they were doing are the ones that avoided this.  After all, they didn't give away their own money, in some cases, large amounts of their own money, only to get promises.  Now, they don't even get those promises.

    That's not a business model; that's a cult.

I actually got refunded for my 50$, original kickstart. It was years ago, at first moment things started to look "fishy"

I can not believe to see how many times over and over it got progressively worse

To be honest I think the big argument here with non-backers is that some (I say some because I hate speaking for everyone) don't want this to infect the gaming community in general. SC is not as bad as something like SBS, but if people continually give money without anything to show, then what motive is there to complete? Sure, the company wants a finished project, but what if they pull a Caspian and go bankrupt? Then you have them sitting in a basement trying to finish SOMETHING so they aren't sued to death.

I never really bought into any of the KS MMOs because most MMOs with big, experienced teams don't even get it right. EQ2 lost to WoW, FF14 had to apologize, ESO redid their whole faction style, New World was announced... these are all some kind of failures and they all had large, experienced teams. Even passionate developers, like the people who made MO2 who were making a game specifically for a niche crowd, fucked it up.

I hope people who pledged to SC get everything they want and they can throw it back in my face, because then there's hope for projects like these. I'm just too pessimistic to believe it will happen.

In the end, as much as I love a lot of indie games, I wouldn't back them unless they were completely transparent and they showed their work often (if anyone ever played Crosscode, I bought that game in early access, because of how transparent they were and it looked like a labor of love. I was not disappointed).

As for people being over negative, well it looks like you have plenty who are overly positive, so it balances out.

Totally agree 110% and it is real shame. I never would have imagined I would be typing this all these years later...after buying an Nvidia 780 years ago thinking this is it, and now we are in 2022 even despite an engine change. I just do not envision how they will be able to release anytime soon, they still have a lot of tech to finish. I do support the community at SC, they are absolutely kind people. Their teams have some amazing artist. No offense to anyone over there but clearly we all see the issues as gamers across the globe. I hope it can get done.

Let's be realistic. There really shouldn't be any community still following this game. If people are dumb enough to still be following this they deserve what they get. It's time to move on.

That's why Star Citizen will keep making millions every year!

And why we'lI be here celebrating on their faces. :D

Love reading discussions about Star Citizen - it’s been a blast the last 6 years to see the most eager supporters explain why everyone else are simple minded for not seeing why spending 500 dollars on a non-unique digital ship in a game that is still in early alpha is a good idea. «we’re supporting the development, if we just put a little more cash into their pockets - they’ll start hitting the roadmap targets faster..that’s what they said on their silly show»

Don't need a roadmap to know that this game will eternally be 12-18 months away from release.
