SWG pre-NGE, of course. Matrix Online. Anarchy Online remake - not just a facelift it got, full-on remake like you mentioned.

It's been said, many times, many ways Asherons Call. And AC2 even, that had such cool skills and classes.

DAOC remaster would be amazing. Without all this "unchained" crap

Silkroad Online had some cool ideas, not sure how it would age though.

Oh annnnd Scarlet Blade, that was some quality entertainment!

    This.

How the fuck has no one implemented Patrol areas into another arpg?

Asheron's Call and Vanguard would be my top picks. Glad to see others think the same.

For me it would be the original Star Wars Galaxies and Warhammer Online with updated graphics and more responsive controls.

City of Heroes. A graphics upgrade and expansion of the mechanics would really help it.

The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

Matrix Online. I actually never got to play this, but some friends who did swore it was an amazing game, and I would've liked to try it out. Also didn't see it mentioned here, so why not?  8)
There was a lot of involvement in the community, and the staff loved to host or start events. The faction system was alright, it wasn't "other teams bad because different color banner" but I'll admit it never really spoke to me personally.

Plus it has AOL Messenger built into the game, which made me think of was cutting edge lol.

Add another vote for each of Asheron's Call and AC2, Anarchy Online, Tabula Rasa, and Firefall.

    Fallen Earth.

Fallen Earth remake is actually being worked on atm. In the mean time the devs have reopened the servers for the classic version, though I believe the old character data has been wiped.

Warhammer Online, Vanguard, Marvel Heroes, Tabula Rasa, Fallen Earth... had fun in all of those, though remake probably aren't viable for most of them. Marvel Heroes has potential, since costume sales = easy money, though licensing might be an issue since Disney's been such an a** about it in recent times.

Ultima Online and SWG would be nice. The only 2 player-driven economies that I remember. I still have hopes that I will get a player-driven economy again before I die. Time is running out haha.

SWG all day. Loving my time on Legends the last few years, but an official re-release/re-make would be amazing.

Storm Riders Online was an MMO in the early 2000s based around the 1998 fantasy Kung Fu film The Storm Riders. I loved the movie and I loved the game. It sadly never left beta I believe and eventually just abruptly ended one day. It had potential at the time and the game that eventually came about and was closest to it in terms of gameplay was Black Desert.

Asheron's Call, it was the best gaming experienced I've ever had. Unique creatures incredibly in-depth lore and the best loot system in any game to this day. Not to mention the intelligent AI, i mean creatures leveled off you if they killed you! One of it's best features was the interaction by the dev's who could take control of an NPC or baddie and run around stomping players and rewarding them afterwards....how cool is that! So may incredible features it would take a days to lay them all out.
    - The world itself is large at over 1,300 square kilometres (500 sq mi)
    - 987 dungeons in the world
    - 275 character levels
    - 80 plus creatures types dozens of variations of each

I could say Ultima Online, DAoC or Star Wars Galaxies. The two main problems are... 1) I don't believe there is any team competent enough to not destroy the games anyway. 2) Even if (1) could be taken care of the Company behind said developers would tell us the game was failing and force some change that would make it actually fail... and maybe most importantly 3) The way player bases are in general now I don't really think any of this would ever work. The community at the time is part of the soul of a game and the memories you have of it. The current tide pod generation would just make it seem like another toilet badly in need of a flush. Just my opinion of course...

While not shuttered I wish CCP would again consider adding an avatar side to EVE Online, basically bringing back the Captain's Quarters and carry forward the originally promised vision of a more robust Walking in Stations.

Heck, take it a step further and add some sort of ship boarding and capture module...

    Yeah, won't ever happen, but

Warhammer fantasy as a remake , with the assets from AGS's New World.

Actual just give AGS a break, to rewrite their code to not be so incredible fragile, and let them build a PvE world that actual is more than just beautiful, but contains plenty of  lore and reasons to engage in. The have all the assets for just  that.
offcause at least  3 faction combat.
and let the world be real grim and dark, muddy and bloody, as everything in warhammer fantasy really is.

If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times, Vanguard SoH! This game was huge, utilizing air space and deeeeep underground space. Still the best classes/combat I've ever experienced in a mmo. Also 2 other alternate leveling paths other than combat...great game!

Asherons Call was the first MMO I played starting in late 1999. Admittedly the graphics were pretty bad but the gameplay more than made up for that. I have not had so much fun in a game since then. The community was incredible. The monthly updates kept the game interesting. You could run so fast. The area in the game was huge. Loved the quests and rewards. Please bring back AC, update the graphics, don't change the game too much, and I will jump on it in a flash. Having an area where people could go and chat while the game was down was a great idea. So many other great things about that game. Too many to list. AC forever. BTW I played on Frostfell as Mr Magoo then went to Wintersebb when it first came out. Name was Adam. My powers were great! :) Nostalgis is both wonderful and terrible at the same time.
