If I play a F2P game & find it enjoyable I like to toss some real-life $ at it from time to time so a lot of their mentioned ideals I parallel.
Now just to wait & see then hopefully play.
It's a social, sandbox style of game with elements of Animal Crossing and Minecraft. Some combat is in the game but not the central focus. It's mostly crafting, building, cooking, fishing, land management, mini games, exploration, etc.
Learn to judge more superficially. Obviously art style tells you everything about a game.
I mean, it is alright to be skeptical, but don't just assume a new development studio with no track record of scummy monetization is just straight up lying about what they are planning.
And for all the pvp guys out there: no, there will be no pvp in game, because it is about cooperation, not competition.

Has there ever, in the history of gaming, or companies in general, been a company that said "We are probably dishonest and will hide our practices behind many layers of disinformation?"
Not saying they ARE lying... but I think that line is standard boilerplate for most games.
Besides, as @torval once taught me, for some people, the cosmetics ARE the endgame, and it seems that this social based game will attract more than it's fair share of those folks. For them, this type of shop is straight P2W without even a chance to earn the premium items in game.
That said, since I've never spent a cent on cosmetics... I'm hoping to give this a try.

Which did not end well
I like the art style will keep an eye on this since I adore animal crossing and I love building, cooking ,fishing and the other activities too. Actually the art style reminds me of a less colourful EQ3 art.
The main priority is community in this game, you have literally every other MMO with the things you want. You'll be okay.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
I want my P2W, and I want it in good sizeable chunks, so when someone uses skill and talent to beat me, I can swipe my credit card, and own that mf'ers ass, and shit on their skull.
I mean.. Yay.. cosmetic.
