Can also point out that, I guess depending on how you count currencies, there's up to 22 of them, among other problems that video brings up.
In regards to PvP, most any whale you fight now is not as blinged out as they can or will be, with them being able to well over double (more like triple) their stats, defenses, etc. What that means for PvP is skill over time matters less and less. So, enjoy that part while it lasts I guess?
And on the pity system, there does seem to be a meaningful difference still between a pity system that can cost $300 a month, and not having any such system and costing people a known upwards of $10k with nothing to show for it.

The pity system in DI, which I think does exist but with the caveat that you can't total up regular legendary crests and Eternal ones to add-up to 50, only guarantees a ?/5 gem not a 5/5 every 50 used.

Maybe if some of these people actually went out and earned ten grand they would appreciate it more.....Blowing it on a video game is the dumbest thing ever.
beat a large whale clan because they got careless.
Nice to see that the old standard refuge of dolphins in P2Win games "But we can beat the wales 'cause we have skill!" is alive and well.
Enjoy it while it lasts. You'll soon enough run into wales with enough skill to one-shot you.
Not only that, but there's already a qualifier on the statement as it stands. Because they did something wrong: they got careless.
That was the point. The game is designed for $$ to beat skill unless you're really awful and just take it to the face.
Many other mobile games let you just take it to the face and laugh, you can't do that in D:I and never will unless they make it worse which they can as the industry shows there is worse.
I get you, I'm just not sure how useful splitting that hair is.
It still includes very obviously predatory monetization, including systems that aren't fully described to the player.

I'm not splitting hairs, don't you think someone who thinks $50 in mobile games can help you compete should know the truth and just how bad it is.
Using D:I as a baseline to show just how disgusting the industry really is.
Ya, I don't think I'm experience in it to comment. I'm using pokemon go as my base line. And other people said genshin impact or fate grand order isn't bad. I don't know how bad it is for other top grossing games.
I would repeat the point there that whales currently are still grinding up their gems and statting. The boost they have now in PvP is small compared to the ~300% leg up they'll be rocking kitted out. Only reason it feels like F2P even has a chance with skill currently.
The thing that has me probably more worried is the divide that the Legendary Crest system kind of causes in the grand scheme of things. Using Legendary Crests with others who also use Legendary Crests provided bonuses to others (I'm not sure if Eternal Legendary Crests have their own bonuses), so it just further pushes this 'exclusion.' Now sure, people could party up with whoever they want and use whichever crests and however many they want, but the human mind tends to prioritize efficiency over 'fun' most of the time. Its pretty much just saying "hey, you're too broke to play with us," just because you simply do not wish to throw down a meal's worth of money per rift.

Can you not take 1 sentence to be snarky with. I didn't mention anything about our skill, I said they got careless. Also our clan is Minnow at best, most are F2P. We don't even have dolphins. I'm well aware of the wall we will eventually hit, I also know that there is at least 2 clans on the server we have 0 chance of defeating if they can use a braincell.
I'm just pointing out, the industry is a lot lot worse than what we see in Diablo Immortal. This isn't a justification that D:I's systems are fine just that this is the norm not the outlier.
I'll stop when you stop hand waving stuff away explicitly or implicitly
What am I waving away? The guy thought this is the worst the industry has to offer. I'm saying there is a lot worse and in greater frequency.
When we're talking about Blizzard, not Joe Schmoe Inc., doing it with one of their iconic franchises, and the response is "Guys, guys, settle down, this is not even as bad as mobile games get," that is a form of hand waving, is it not?
Blizzard is actually more of a Joe Schmoe company these days, their golden age lies far behind them.
He's not wrong, you should read some of the RMT complaint threads in LA Forums, almost terrifying to see how many people routinely pay big money, thousands a month and they could be considered dolphins compared to some.
The biggest complaints is why AGS won't come down harder on players who RMT (3 day bans they say), makes no sense to pay 5 or 10 times more from official store.
In one example someone showed how getting 20 gold Grudge skill books would cost about a grand using the offical store to purchase crowns to convert to gold, while same gold can be bought illicitly for $244.
Nevermind that in either case this is to make a minor enhancement to a single ability, could easily spend $10K or more trying to round out a single character, nevermind the stable of high level alts many maintain.
So yeah, Blizzard sux and all, but they are probably small time players in this mobile market space.

I mean, that does sound bad, but 10k for one character sounds 10x better than 110k for one set of gear for one character.
Blizzard has certainly lost it's veneer over the last decade, but the amount of downloads Immortal got on launch says it's still a very visible brand for pulling people in.
Part of what makes Immortal such a front-stage title for people coming up and criticizing it. Especially since it's a move from mobile and eastern devs, to a join with PC and a western studio as more than just an international publisher, but licensing and using a long standing and popular franchise.
It seemed the percentage whale is pretty small. If blizzard made 24 million in 2 weeks, it means there are no more than 240 people spending more than 100,000. Or the number of 10,000 spender is less than 2400.
Maybe people will continue to spend more when they level up more. Since the game is only out 2 weeks.
There is also news diablo immortal might not be released in China. Heard there are news of a Blizzard Employee saying crap about the CCP and it's possible CCP ban the release of diablo immortal in China. Don't know how reliable the news is.
Btw Quin 69 got the 5 star gem today then deleted the gem, character , and game .
I am sure all this negative attention Diablo Immortal is garnering is not being received with enthusiasm. I suspect other mobile game developers aren't too thrilled either.

It was the main point of the stunt that some seem to miss in their haste to dump on streamers and their followers.
It showed the DI POS monetization clearly for what it is and it got picked up by many gaming media outlets and even Forbes and others in the mainstream media.
Just the kind of exposure and reality check this game needed.

Really? You support the streamer who manipulates his viewership by gambling money from a company doing predatory practices? You think he was doing it for the good of the people and industry? He was doing it for business.
Gambling on twitch is big business and is causing a lot of people to fall into gambling themselves, maybe you should focus your efforts on that problem. Unless of course you still believe the community isn't part of the problem.
Anything to deflect from DI monetization. You're so fucking predictable.
I already made all my points about this streamer his fans supporting the crest buying and hm probably making money out of this whole thing way back on page 1 well before you piped in with the same on this page.
The dude's a clown and I don't condone anything about streamers or their followers.
But that's a side story. The real story you apparently don't want to focus on is that by his actions, whether you approve of them or not, he exposed this piece of shit monetization clearly and to a very broad audience beyond his subscribers.
That needed to happen and it did.
The topic is DI monetization not this side shit you want to flex your self-righteousness at.

Oh for cryin' out loud, people dropping truth bombs like the streamer is making money or doing it as a business and so forth. How on earth do you exist in this society if that is a revelation to you?
Stop acting like ya'll were just transported here in a sealed bag.
