Babylon's Fall, PlatinumGames' multiplayer action RPG, is set to shut its servers down in February, coming less than a year since the maligned game launched. The last day will be February 27th, 2023.

Same, I never knew the game existed. I also checked the review it's just seems to be a generic game nothing ground breaking.

Or, you know, they could have continued the development and fixed the few minor problems but the result would have been the same - some people decided to farm quite a few outrage clicks out of a decent game with a few problems and no matter what the devs do the situation will only get worse. It is not the first time a game was killed by sensationalism and it won't be the last.
No, it was the entire art style. They went for a living watercolor painting effect, complete with a rough canvas and moving brush strokes. It was actually at its worst when you were standing still, and it wasn't as noticeable when you were in combat. The art style downgraded graphics to a fuzzy PS2 era look. Retro is a good look when that's what you are actually going for.
The biggest issue with the game was how little character progression there was in the first 10-15 hours. In the big picture, 15 hours isn't a large investment when you consider players can dump hundreds or thousands of hours into this type of game, but these days you have to catch the attention of streamers and their audience quickly or they will spread a negative view and the media will latch on to that and run with it.
