After several changes, Crowfall will be taken offline this month and re-enter active development for a future relaunch. The team is "rethinking" what that relaunch will look like.

It is a tough decision to make, but CF is hardly the only MMO that has "launched" in the last few years and really been at the beta or earlier stage of development. Will it recover, hard to say, but this idea you can launch and keep updating the game to a more solid state is fraught with issues. Will "Crowfall Unchained" get the players in, we can but wait and see.

The PvP aspect of it is why I did not stick around. I thought the crafting, the races and some of the class gameplay was decent and would have rather enjoyed it possibly had there been PvE. Good luck to them.

This may never come back again or released with again very little buzz unfortunately. Their chance especially for new IP and smaller developer to recover is exceedingly low (ie in comparison to FFXIV).

It ended up being that bad hmm.

I have to agree with that other poster above and bet if they had a pve only server it would have fared much better.

This was me also. I gave it a try, but just didn't enjoy the pvp at all. Would have played more if there was a pve part of the game as I did enjoy the crafting and gathering parts.

Sad, but this is an interesting call. The game fell into the design trap of creating a PvP focused MMO. Theres such a delicate balance between making it fun for a range of players to support such a grand design, and the risk of ruining that exact design in the process of making it appealing to more players. Theres not a ton of overlap anymore of those kinds of player bases, so you're required to give people something they didn't know they wanted. I don't want to run around and get swarmed over by a larger group. I don't want the PvP walled behind such an unrelated grind.

Tone-deaf developers and their equally tone-deaf hardcore biggest fans did this in their echo chamber.

Their horse ended up having 2 humps on its back... who could have guessed that outcome?

    Don't forget about the trunk.

A platypus was designed better than CF.

That and probably Raph Koster's input during development with his idea of 'fun'. Games should be a second job and they should punish you tremendously for playing them because it's funner that way.

I’m watching this development from the perspective of an ex-Boundless player. I wonder what Monumental will do with that neglected game. Was Crowfall in a worse state than monumental anticipated? It makes me more confused as to their motivation in buying up these failing games.

And people wonder why I call Koster just another has-been, never-will-be-again hack. His latest bit was latching on to that whole "metaverse" BS. Haven't heard shit from him since Zuckerberg imploded and made the term "metaverse" a poison pill.

It was annoying how these developers were trying to sell us on the idea that the metaverse was something new, different and revolutionary when in fact it was just an VR MMO broken up into a bunch of tiny rooms.

Wow. While I assumed this game would go nowhere simply due to its PvP focus, I didn't expect Crowfall to well... Eat Crow... And basically come out with a mea culpa acknowledging that the game is top to bottom garbage. Considering the arrogance spewed around during the early stages of development I figured they'd just quietly run their little niche game or quietly shut it down and go away. Best of luck to them but my guess is this is going the way of Anthem. They'll spend a few months poking it with a stick and declare "it's dead, Jim".

I didn't know it had even gone live. I had totally forgotten about it. Was never that interested in it, but nothing wrong with more variety for people to choose from.
