Pantheon team often mentions their pledge page during their live streams for anyone who like what they see and want to support the project.

Been a definite effort on their part to build a sense of FOMO in their $500 level backers to try and get them to antee up and upgrade their packages to at least the $750 tier so they can be part of the monthly pre-alpha testing announced for 2023.

If all you've got after 10 years in development is concept art that's what you highlight. It's not like there is an abundance of options in that scenario.

Interesting... a poster with FOUR posts links a WoW gold buying site. How?

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

Not necessarily secrecy, but their is valid rationale on the impact of long development cycles on consumer confidence as well as interest, which gives reason for devs to avoid announcing projects "too early".

A short point would be, it's hard to stay hyped for anything after several years of waiting.

    Unless it's Half Life 3.
Why does one would need to be in "perpetually hyped" state about a game instead of just being happy that a game you are interested is being developed in the first place?

Independently of you being aware that it exists or not. The actual time you've waited for the game is exactly the same.
Because gamers do not allow themselves to be happy, that would feel quite unnatural to us all. :)
More that it just ages. By the time the game launches, it's old news and usually people have moved on to something else.
This is why I don't follow "game news." Once released, or at least in a "beta state" (though even this term has become nebulous), I may look into them :)

Yes, highlighting concept art can still be valuable even for a game that has been in development for a long time, as it can generate interest and keep fans engaged throughout the development process.

This posts dragging to much so imma sum everything up, no you shouldn't be showing concept art if you have been making a game for over a decade you should be showing progress end of story, if you are showing anything but progress your stalling and the more concept art you put out instead of you showing progress the more likely people will call it as it is even if its not true and call it a scam.

Its not rocket science you show everything and anything but progress people are gonna call bullshit end of story.

There is nothing wrong with showing concept art along with progress even after a decade, especially in something like a MMORPG where there will be an intent to continue putting out more content after release.

It is in the absence of demonstrated progress over time that causes presented concept art to increasingly appear hollow, not the art in and of itself.

More likely they are just pretending to not want money so that people like you think they are somehow secure then buy into a larger pledge when the opportunity opens up. Thats in the scam lesson book 101.
The thought of them lying in wait for 10 years and then suddenly making me a "super offer impossible to resist" doesn't sound very likely to me. Doesn't seem like it's a good scam textbook.
What makes you think they have been lying in wait at all?  These MMO's will take your money anytime if you offer it.  Tell them you will donate 10k trust me they will take it in a heart beat.

While there is a test environment there's no completed game loops ready to actually test, almost everything is in a fairly incomplete state.

This for a game in it's 5th year of "Beta 1" which also was being targeted to launch in 2015, 2019, and 2020 as per Mark over the years.

Covid-19 brought to a halt any further new release dates, or payment of refunds really as some folks are at year 3 now on waiting for them despite Mark's assertions in his monthly streams that he continues to pay them.

It's pretty clear they basically ran out of cash at the end of 2021, probably only lasted that long due to getting 2 years of PPP funding.

He reportedly has secured $15M in new funding, but so far there's been no real evidence yet this has improved anything outside of claims of new hires which no one has actually seen, just Mark's word for it.

Keep in mind, Mark originally said CU could be released with far less than that same amount of funding, but after 10 years in the making he needs double that much to get to the finish?

If Mark tells you the sun is coming up tomorrow you should take it with a good deal of skepticism, his word isn't worth much at this point.

How about your thoughts on the progress of the game?

    Is it fun?
    Is the combat good/bad/meh?
What game play loops have you experienced?
    How are the assets?
    How is "the world?"
What state do YOU feel it is in? Close to done? Alpha state? Beta state? Just patchwork?

    And finally, Would you recommend?

Read any Star Citizen's post about how much they enjoy playing their "game" despite it's perpetual Alpha state and do like them.

Oh wait, CU is still under a NDA, no one can share anything about the testing actually.....  but let's face it, recent leaks the past year or so have said or shown there isn't much there ATM.

That would be fine I'm sure under CU's NDA terms, but those are words no one I've ever read say about the current state of the beta.

Instead there are comments like, no playable game loops, lots of placeholder art and systems, but the trees and rocks....top notch so far.

Oh yes, despite all of the art shared about the numerous weapon and tool types very few are actually in the game as presented.
