This week, New World's Forged in Aeternum features a behind the scenes look at creating some of the game's memorable female characters, including the Siren Queen and Fellowship & Fire's Grace.

It's kind of a running gag at this point, that the character creation is truly subpar etc, even in the official forums....

It's not just about looks...basically they got a male skeleton and stance and wrapped a female skin around it....made everything very similar bland so almost all armor skins work whether it be male or female.
Result all skins are butt fugly and they seem bent on giving us only clown suits...its so bad they are not making enough cash with the crappy skins int he cash shop so they now are adding a paid season pass option...lol
Hell I still got 25k cash shop currency from launch cause there is not crapola worth buying in there right now skin wise.
This article and the devs proud of this are quite a joke and a prime example of how NOT to do it.
To quote a female player I know that hates the graceless female avatars in NW.
"Currently, my "lady" runs up and down stairs like she's wearing 9 maxi pads and it's frustrating (and others on the official forums and steam agree too). Why?"
Never got a reply on why beyond AGS is too woke....

I completely support the idea of strong female, woman characters, there's really not enough of them special with Korea's over sexualization of woman in mmos''ss..
But organization are losing lawsuits filed against them for miss-genderization and "trans rights". Disc Golf is facing a lawsuit as we speak.
Of course people care. Maybe not individually, but the graphics and characters and terrain and buildings..... create the atmosphere for the game. Otherwise, you could just have boxes running around. The look and feel of a game creates the atmosphere. It's very important.

THe Queen in ESO was someone to care, Queen Beckensale ! hehe, I think a lot people enjoy great npc story arcs if they engage and make the experience transactional meaning worth doing to see the outcome of that npc's fate.
If only it was possible to make a female character in New World who didnt look like they fell out of the ugly tree hitting every branch on the way down....
I don't play either and I care! The idea that NPCs do not matter in a MMORPG, what planet are you playing on? I understand you dislike the avatar creation system and from what you have said it is not good, but the NPC's are quite separate from that and you are conflating the two elements of gameplay together.
I agree that your avatars are more important than the NPCs as you will see more of them about and for the sake of immersion you need to be comfortable in your skin as it were. But being dismissive about something a MMO is doing well just because you have beef about another area goes too far.

I thought the game didn't have genders, after all it's made by progressives from the distant future where everyone is born in a jar with no belly button and pink hair.
How has anyone given the impression we think you are an idiot? You have come across as a fan who is angry amount elements of the game, that's all. You mentioned seeing less NPCs as you get to top level, well that does happen in MMOs, it depends on what the "end game" is. But from what you have said that is rather marked in NW, the idea of just clicking on a counter to trade is rather odd.
I do find it strange that you feel we need to be in game to care about this. If someone raises an issue from PvP to graphics of course we care. The standard of any element of a MMO reflects on all MMOs and any MMOs to come. It is in all our interests that those standards are high.

I am feeling like a broken record here, of course we respect the opinions of players who are in a game, but you made a statement that generalised about all npcs in all MMOs, or that's how it seemed to us anyway. I don't get the "expert splain" idea either, any gamer can have an opinion and if someone had not even played a MMO I would be interested to hear what they had to say.
Also I don't see this as an attempt by AGS to mask their problems, but I can see how you might regard the Leader Boards in that light. This is a "postive women" news story, that's why they put it out, the idea it could be a cover for avatar issues is a huge reach. But the leader boards were questioned on here, I hoped they might engender competition, but clearly they were not on the top of anyone's wish list, playing or not.

I was certainly not trying to be cute or snarky, I don't recognise that characterisation at all, also my posts about the NPCs have not even been particularly supportive of NW, just supportive of NPCS in a MMO. We have ding donged for a few posts now, I will agree to differ.

My granddaughters were watching me play on my alt this weekend and asked (again) why I always play "girl" characters, so clearly the 9 yrs could discern.
(Told them I don't "always" play female avatars, just mostly).
