Star Wars Galaxies wasn't going away either or so all those involved claimed, until it did.

Yeah but SWG took a dump on itself with the NGE and alienated a shit ton of players in the process, so the cause of it's shut down was more like a rage quit by Lucas Arts/SOE. Most of us vets didn't care by then.

On a side note, even though the NGE emu is the most populated to this day I still can't bring myself to play it.

Standing Stone Games has no say on wether they will continue, because Standing Stone Games doesn't even exist physically in the world. Many of you may remember my account being permantly closed / banned.

I did a lot of huffing and puffing to find SSG, their headquarters and address, doesn't exist.
Sent multiple BBB reporots too SSG at present address and Daybreak's  neither responded.

The actual authority comes from the board room at EG7. Right now they are using SSG for tax write off for yearly loses. This works to a %, but once that % reaches far below the tax deduction threshholds they will close the game down and make a final cash in on losses. imho.

I have tried a few times over the years to go back to LOTRO. Its really dated but it good to see it has an active fan base that want to support the game. Will only stay open with that support.

I played during beta, and a bit after launch. I didn't really find it all that interesting. Went back years and found It's not a terrible MMO now, just dated and lots of RMT to get the most out of it. Plus it's kind of empty.

When the game first came out it was a widespread disappointment to a lot of MMORPG fans, but a few LOTR loved it. It game out during a time when lots of MMOs were launching and flopped due to how popular WoW was. Slowly it kind of became a cult classic, but was never really exciting to many.

The specifics of their contract have never been revealed, as far as I'm aware.  Maybe they'd be allowed to continue after Amazons's MMO releases.  But it seems unlikely.

Hopefully for fans it will exist at least until Amazon's does release though.

They exist and people have successfully taken them to Small Claims Court and another did it through their bank.  I also know of one streamer that got a job there pre COVID.  Dunno if they all work remotely these days but I doubt it.  If you are trying to get at them legally you can.

I won't return to their game until they add 2FA as they've offered zero help to people that had theirs hacked.

Google maps OK.  Whatever dude.  If you are trying to get unbanned that won't happen.  they don't care.  And they honestly suck.

BBB is worthless so I don't know what you expected there.

You're only recourse is to taking them to court or get payments reversed.  As those are the two avenues I know people have taken.  You'll need some good records for that though, especially if it was a lifetime account.

this game would actually benefit from some revamp similar to NGE for SWG. the ui is really outdated when i tried to play. and server was so dead, random high level teleported to me to greet me when i logged in.

but atleast it actually runs unlike D&D online, that game is so outdated it refuses to let you even launch the game

I played in the closed beta for LoTRO, and bought a ifetime sub when it launched. Played through Moria when that was new, and haven't really done much more since then. Every now and then I'll go back to be in Middle Earth for a while, but the game doesn't hold my attention very well after all these years.

I never played WoW, so LoTRO was my WoW experience.

Based on Amazon's checkered record with MMO's, and their shredding of Tolkien lore with Rings of Power, I'm not very optimistic about the new game.
