But WoW and EQ2 came out which both kick its ass, the way it is right now
You don't get it do you? do you REALISE why there is limited customization? Try putting hundreds of characters on your screen, all look very diffrent from each other, a castle siege. then take a good look your computer, and your FPS rate and THEN come back here complaining there is little customization

It depends on what you are talking about when it comes to the customization. Yes the facial customization in EQII is very good, no question. However that is about where it ends. The armor and most of the robes are all very similar. Mainly because there is no real variation in the artwork. If I put my suit of armor on my human character then on my dwarf or elf character in EQII they are both the same. The suit just matches the physique. Not so in L2. Each race and sex has its own variation of the same suit. Orc's look vastly different in even a Brozes suit of armor vs a Human or elf. WoW has pretty limited character customization, maybe a bit better then L2. You have on average 8 different faces and 8 different hairstyles to choose from. Not exactly ground breaking. The main differences is that WoW has more races to choose from. Not that it makes a difference in WoW the vast majority of players are Nightelves........so much for customization options. The individual customization (faces) is limited because L2 is a mass combat game. EQII style customizing would effect performance to much in a two hundred person seige or raid which happen regularly. EQII and WoW do not have this concern. WoW or EQII are far from "kicking L2's butt"

You don't think L2 is different than WOW 1-59, Guild Wars, EQ2, or EVE? Those games aren't even similar to each other even just in terms of grinding, so I'm not sure how L2 can be no different from any of them when they're different to each other. The fact that there is something that can be called grinding in any of those games doesn't mean that they're all the same. And if you really believe L2 is no different than WOW, then you really ought to square off against the L2 fans here who seem to think that WOW is horrible.
I agree to a point, but why "bash" a game you don't know first hand what you are talking about?
This is a discussion forum, I'm discussing a game; why complain that someone discusses a game on a discussion forum? If you'll note, my "bashing" of the game started when I offered a direct answer to a question asked by the original poster. And what horrible, horrible things have I been saying about L2 to "bash" it? Oh, I've repeated what fans of the game say about the grinding in it and have mostly been talking about grinding and why I don't like it, and why the huge, up-front grinding in L2 has contributed to its ratings.
And I do know first-hand what I'm talking about, I'm not sure why you think I don't know my own gaming preferences first-hand. Obviously I can't know first hand why each and every person voted for the ratings as they did, but no one can - if we're going to limit the discussion to first-hand knowledge, no one would be able to comment.
(I'm a casual player also and I dont complain to much about the grind)
I don't qualify as a casual player by any sane definition of the word (I don't consider the wow forums' "non-raider = casual" definition sane), when I get into a game I will often play it for several days straight when I can, and easily rack up some huge number of hours per week on it on average. I think grinding is actually quite suited to casual play, since you can easily break it out into small chunks for whatever your playtime is, it's not really about how much you play at one sitting or in one week.
Why are you arguing about grind times anyway? You know its all subjective.
Why are you arguing about game ratings? You know it's all subjective. Plus grind times aren't actually subjective, they're going to be some objective number.
But you are jumping on the "L2 is terrible" bandwagon. Have you played the game? If not why are you attacking it?
Seriously, stop being a damn fanboy. "Oh no, someone said they don't like something in my game, they're jumping on the bandwagon to attack it". What would you want this thread to be, a bunch of fanboys sitting around saying "oh yeah, this game is great! There's nothing bad about it at all! That rating is obviously just alien space bats meddling with the numbers, there could never be any reason anyone could dislike it!".
People who don't like a game and discuss the reasons why are not 'jumping on the badwagon', and they're not launching some viscoius attack aimed to destroy the game. They're engaging in discussion on a discussion forum.
All MMO's are basically the same. They are ALL loot / level based.
You should learn more about MMOs before making statements like this, since there are several MMOs with no levels at all, EVE is the first that pops into my head. There are also non-loot-based MMOs, in COH/COV for example loot is pretty much inconsequential.
Some like different things. Whats wrong with that?
I would like you to answer that question, since you seem to feel that it's wrong for people who don't like L2 to voice their opinion.

In fact I would never recamend L2 to anyone unless they understood would it is about and that it will be "difficult" meaning hard grind and economy. If you go in with any sort of bias you will hate L2.

No way bro, voice your opinion. All I am saying is people (not necessarily you in this case) like to bash this game without actually knowing anything about it. One guy is saying it has 200 levels and the grind is hard after 20 when in fact there are only 78, another is just repeating what "he heard"the game was all grind like a parrot. (I think that was in another thread, )
If you tried it and didn't like it, more power to you. I tried Ryzom and didn't like it. Thats my opinion but at least I tried it.
I never tried EVE but I would never post something saying that I don't like it because "I heard" the grind is hard or the travel is long or there are 1 million levels and it takes a month to get 1. I don't know that.

It's not when someone says a game is good, you have to go far beyond saying that a game is good or that you like it to qualify for the fanboy label. "But you are jumping on the "L2 is terrible" bandwagon. Have you played the game? If not why are you attacking it?" "I agree to a point, but why "bash" a game you don't know first hand what you are talking about?" You accused me of jumping on a "bandwagon" of people saying the game is terrible, and continually question why I even discuss the game. That's a pure fanboy argument technique there, the old ad homenium fallacy in action - you're try to make the discussion about whoever is criticizing the game instead of about the game or its ratings.
I get the impression from the other stuff you write that you're not one of the full-on fanboys, so hopefully you see what I'm getting it. Saying that the game is good and arguing about the reasons someone lists for it being bad is completely non-fanboyish, it's the bit where you're trying to discuss why I'm even discussing the game that heads down that road.
Okay, I just saw many of these posts saying that the grind is too much.
In Chronicle 3, they made it a lot easier to lvl, especially from lvl 1-25(free soulshots/spiritshots,free buffs, this thing that follows you around and heals you, exchanging equipment) and plus for everyone of all levels, the partying bonuses.
Also, in Chronicle 4 they added certain NPCs that talk about the tons of raidbosses in Lineage 2 (there are a LOT... ranging from lvl 20-80). Now a lot of people are raiding and it made the grind so much easier cause of the amount of exp you get. The current character I have is lvl 37 and yesterday I went on a few raids (usually for some reason I do not) and I started with like 5% and I played for just 3 hours of raiding and I am almost lvl 38. (Someone got a C-grade Armour enchant on one of the raids and I got 8 d-grade spiritshots ).
Also, Pantastic, you said is lvl 40 high enough to participate in PvP.
Yes.. I have PvPed for a while.
Just a few days ago, me and one of my alliance mates were training and then we went to a certain place where three others were training, they told us to get out but we didn't and we got into a PvP fight. And I was lvl 36.
In chronicle 5, they are adding things called "Academies" which is a part of guilds that is for lower levels and I believe that will make it easier to level plus you can join high lvl guilds.
Each chronicle, they are making it easier and easier to level.
I do agree that Lineage 2 has a bigger grind than WoW but I don't want to see each person left and right being the highest lvl, makes the game no fun. I want to see people who work my pace as well so that I still can play with others.

I see where you are coming from.
As a player of L2 we get beatup alot So we tend to get alittle huffy. As soon as people see L2 they typically attack it with crap remarks and usually have no basis for it.
Just because you play, people assume you buy gold. It takes alot of work to legitimately get your gear in L2 so I tend to resent that. I put in my time working the market and as a casual player it wasn't easy.
So when someone makes comments like following (se below) it just irks me. Its different if you played it but to make remarks like that and not even know WTF you are talking about is just bad form.
The game is not "boring" you need to be involved in the community to really have any fun. Sure if you mindlessly grind in any game, none of them are fun. This is the case of any MMO.
Grinding no matter what game you play is always grinding. They all have it. Its a sucky mechanic. All the upcoming games have it, all the current releases have, and all the old ones have it, so if you are going to play or not, grind is a silly excuse not to like a game.

Lineage 2: Very boring game. It's a major level grind to get to where you're viable in PVP (Level 200 I think).... The first 20 or so aren't bad, after 40 it REALLY slows down. If you like to grind like mad this game isn't bad. But I recommend staying away from it.
BobCrazyton
Lineage 2 is just a big huge grind...or so i've heard
In regards to both of those comments above, I left WOW because of the gameplay after 60. Arguing that L2 is good because of the post-60 game in WOW is not exactly a productive course to take
Then I suggest you go talk to someone who asserted that L2 is good because WoW is bad, instead of talking to me as if I said this. I never asserted an opinion as to whether Lineage 2 was good or not.
I am not going through pages upon pages of useless debate if grinding is good or bad, but i will say it does not surprise me that this issue did rise up in a L2 thread.
I played NA L2 from the start untill about C3, i understand that there are many things that have changed from then, but there are a couple of things that have not, and don't be surpised i still follow the games evolution, i loved that game and i am pretty sure one day i will go back, but not yet.
So what is there to love about L2, well the enviroment is one of the best i have seen, if you are looking for a trully immersive game L2 is exactly that, following that the graphics are amazing although there seems an explosion of games with L2 kind of graphics has happened the last months.
It is an open PvP game maybe the only true open PvP game out there today, i say this as one of it's bigest advantages, now it advertises as a 100% open PvP game but it isn't it is pretty close though, anyway as i said this is for me the bigest advantage of the game but i understand this is not the case for everyone so, if you totaly hate the idea of having someone run right up to you and try to kill you for no other reason but just becasue he can then, THIS IS NOT THE GAME FOR YOU.
It is, if not the only, one of extremely few political games out there and when i say political i don't mean RL politics but in game politics, beeing in a strong clan which aims to conquer a castle in game and then when it does defend it from its enemies, is not only possible but it is the core design of the game, around this concept has everything else be designed in game, and people tend to forget this, all in all if you are more of a lone player then you will probably end up missing the bigest part of the game, so maybe consider something else.
The community well.....of all the games i have played i have found the people in L2 to be the most mature, it takes more than just beeing an omfgleetfastwithyourfingersteenager to be succesfull in L2 and it shows, now don't get me wrong i am not saying that you will not find immature players in L2 you will and quite a few, but the mature players are the majority something that is not the case in other newer games, but again if you have extremely strong feelings against profesional gold farmers and systematical e-bayers know that you will find a large numbers of those in game.
Economy, the way the market works and the way money and goods come into play it really encourages a live and thriving and interesting market system, where if you want to be an extremely succesful trader you will need to spend time doing it, if you like hagling in game buying cheap and selling expensive, if you want a system were although demand and availability govern the prices, but you can still find that golden oportunity to get rich, then you will find all of it in L2, on the other hand if the only thing you understand or are interested in a game is to visit an AH and throw in all the junk you found after a days grinding and go the other day and collect then you will not find it here.
So what are the games bigest flaws?
1. Down time, although it's downt itme is just a bit higher then older games in comparison with the newer games and especialy WoW it is abysmall, if you tend to play alone you will be sitting most of the time or spending all your money for consumables, which in turn will leave you without the nescesary funds for buying new weapons.
2. Loot, if you a re a loot whore or even if you simply jump with joy everytime a simple magical item drops from a mob even if you know it will be useless to you then you will find L2 lacking, oh you will prbably have a handfull of magical drops in L2 at least, by the time you reach lvl 50, in L2 it is all about gold, kill mobs to get gold to buy your new items.
3. Grind, sure grinding is a nescesity in every single mmorpg and something which should not be considered as a disadvantage as some things just can'r happen otherwise, but grinding in L2 does happen at a level which should be considered a problem, not only because of how much you need to do but mainly because of why you have to do it.
4. Customer service is seriously lacking, now i wouldn't call it outright bad but it is far from good.
5. And probably the bigest problem of all in my mind is the fact that they force you to install and run an extremely suspicious piece of software alongside with the game client, the oficial reason is that it is a anti cheating program but untill now it hasn't been at all succesfull in this job, this software is classified as spyware by most of the bigest anti-spyware companies, and although as far as i know it has not been used as spyware yet, it is generaly accepted it can be switched to this role instantly when and if the company decides to do so.
So there you have it, my oppinion about the important points and what to expect from L2, for the rest well the rest are minor things imo which are there to complement whatever it is you play this game for.
It is not really a game for very casual gamers, leveling and equiping your character is hard and requires alot of time even for hardcore players, so i would say that unless you can spend at least 30 houres a week in this game don't buy it, on the other hand there is no event or quest or anything that will force you to spend 5 to 7 houres in company with tens of other players to complete.
Let me recap my feelings by saying that I think Lineage 2 is under rated.
Everquest 2 received a 7.9 rating by MMORPG.COM.
Lineage 2 received a 6.9 rating.
I PLAYED EQ2 during the time that rating was assigned. Not only did I play EQ2, but I bought my current machine to handle EQ2. That is how excited I was about that game. As I said in the beginning, I played EQ1 for years. I can't tell you how much I anticipated the release of EQ2.
There is no way EQ2 deserves a 7.9 while Lineage 2 has a 6.9. I have respect for WOW. Played that one too. Not my cup of tea but definitely a fun game. Eve, as I said before, is an awesome game in my opinion. Very different from most other things out there.
But Lineage 2 has been wrongly slammed here. Its a darn good game and very addicting. Thanks again.
Ugh, this thread convinced me to give Lineage 2 a re-try since I haven't played it since its beta stages.
Oh my, my, my. I wish I would have saved my $20 I paid for it on Direct2Drive.com
Here's the main reason that I absolutely HATE it...
IT IS SLOW! GAWD! My avatar not only runs like he has a corncob up his butt, but he moves like a friggin SNAIL!
Not only that, but the graphics like most overseas Korean crap mmo'ds look like they have a "paper-thin" depth. Like I could peel out stickers of my avatar and the mobs from the screen. They have no real depth feel or look to them and this kinda graphics drives me nuts. World of Warcrafts graphics blow L2s away, sorry L2 fans.
See, this is why I stick with the good ol' Asheron's Call. WooT! I can increase my speed and quickness skills up as much as I want with experience and run so damn fast, it would leave Lineage 2's characters thinking that a jet airliner just ran by them! Yeeeeeeeeee- Hawwwwww ! ZooooooooooooM !!
Okay so Lineage 2 just ripped me off for $20. I'll cancel NOW and never again try this slow, pitiful, and horrid game.
Damn I'd love to take my Asherons Call avatar and be able to duel a L2 character! HAHA! I'd take a extremely fast UA'er and attack the slow turtle-guy so fast he'd be dizzy from my attacks, much less the lightning fast damage my weapon would do!
Speed Kills and Asherons Call would utterly destroy Lineage 2, despite L2s prettier, fancier graphics.
Speaking of ratings, the 7 year old Asherons Call rating beat up Lineage 2's 6.9 score with an 8.1 !! 8.1 for an old game.. not bad eh? We also punch out EQ2's score of 7.9 ! Rock on AC1! And AC1 is only $19.99 at www.direct2drive.com as well. Hmmm, I know where the best bang for your buck is....

lmao, I admit that would be funny and entertaining to watch an old AC Darktider just slicing a Lineage character into about 27 pieces before the Lineage 2 character even moved his slow butt into an attack position!
And I agree. Asherons Call blows away Lineage 2. Ofcourse, doesn't its 8.1 rating over Lineage 2's 6.9 reflect that?

I wish I would have saved my $20 I paid for it on Direct2Drive.com Here's the main reason that I absolutely HATE it... this is simply hilarious. you say this thread convinced you to try it again, it has been created 2 days ago, and you think you even know what the game is about and how it changed? I'm sorry, but I cannot stop myself to doubt you seriously bought the game on Direct2drive.
IT IS SLOW! GAWD! My avatar not only runs like he has a corncob up his butt, but he moves like a friggin SNAIL! Your at the start of the game, without any speed buffs or potions, what do you expect? if you bothered to get past your first week of gameplay, you would know that Lineage 2's action is one of the fastest around.the only thing thats faster in asherons call is movement speed.
Um...No, lineage 2 completely blows WoW´s graphics out of the water.I personally think the its one of the few games where monsters actually feel alive
HAHA! I'd take a extremely fast UA'er and attack the slow turtle-guy so fast he'd be dizzy from my attacks, much less the lightning fast damage my weapon would do ! once a mage class got his right equipment, buffs and tatoos, it would let your poor AC character in his underwear before he could say " Help, PK!" Speed Kills and Asherons Call would utterly destroy Lineage 2, despite L2s prettier, fancier graphics. Pretty funny consider AC is the one losing its subscribers. not that they ever had a lot to begin with.
Yup, On Lineage 2, because Lineage 2 isn't slowly dying and has more subscribers then Asherons 7 year old combined

your simply just another guy that has no clue what hes talking about you didn't play it enough. don't bother.

Umm, Yes. That's great. I remember the speed enhancements now from the beta. I can get those and then move faster indeed. But instead of actually looking like your really running and moving faster.. it instead looks like you are SLIDING around to make you faster. Face it. The game engine in L2 is made for its pretty graphics and it suffers horribly when it comes to smooth animation and speed.

First off, this game is made in Korea where there are 4 billion mmo addicted nuts that kill themselves playing these mmos in cyber cafes. Big surprise this crappy game has a million people eh? ...Not.
----------------------------------------- Yup, On Lineage 2, because Lineage 2 isn't slowly dying and has more subscribers then Asherons 7 year old combined -----------------------------------------
Yes. If you want a paper thin mmo that has pretty graphics, tons of bots, and hackers galore then go for Lineage 2 which is actually over-rated with it's 6.9 score. If you want to trash Asherons Call subscriber levels, first off you need to understand that when Asherons Call was released in 1999, it quickly climbed up to about 120,000 subscribers in an mmo market that totalled under 1 million total mmo players (excluding Lineage 1) In 2001, AC1 had atleast 10% of the total American mmo subscribers. In todays mmo market which is much larger, that would be the same as about 1.5 million subscribers.
The only real reasons that Asherons Call doesnt have more subscriber is due to Turbines failure to support it with advertising, free trials, and the fact that most people are like you... they put graphics above gameplay. They don't care if there is only 4 different armor sets in the game that all look exactly the same. They don't care if ever character is a clone of 500,000 others.
Anyone that knows that gameplay is much more important then pretty graphics and has played both Lineage 2 and Asherons Call knows what the better game is. And doesn't the ratings relect that? Asherons Call, even as ancient and old as it is, still is snagging the same score as the much prettier and newer and much more popular World of Warcraft. 8.1. That says a lot for such an old-timer. The only thing good about L2's 6.9 score is that if you take away the dot, then you got "69" which is a cool sexual position, lol.
------------------------------------------------------- your simply just another guy that has no clue what hes talking about you didn't play it enough. don't bother. -------------------------------------------------------
Yep. I'm clueless. Lineage 2 is the bestest game ever. It's so good that I am offering to give away my subscription that I just paid for. 30 days of the great Lineage 2 to the first person that wants it. I'll send you a message with my user name and password to play. Your responsible for game time after 30 days should you really wanna play the crappy game that long.
I see I am discussing here with a typical fanboy and hater who thinks he can already judge the game without even playing it. shame, seems real discussions are a thing of the past these days on mmorpg.com. its all about "my game owns your game".

No. I am trying to explain to you why Asherons Call reigns supreme over Lineage 2. And I have played Lineage 2 when it first came out and leveled my guy to like level 20 or so. It looks exactly the same after playing today for a couple of hours. Sorry if you don't like that fact that I don't like L2 and think it's shallow and slow and weak especially when compared t the vast depth of a game like Asherons Call. But it not only pales compared to AC, it also pales compared to Dark Age of Camelot, Ultima Online, Everquest, and even World of Warcraft. That's my opinion.
And my 30 days and account for Lineage 2 is still FREE to the first person that requests it.

We are not descussing here about wish game have the faster char Fast chars make good games?????OMG
LOL, first off let me respond because Lord knows that I'd hate to "lose credit" because my opinion varies from yours.
No, a faster character doesn't make a better game. Faster gameplay to me is more fun then a game where my character moves like a friggin' snail. Sorry if that offends you.
I personally do not like the look or feel of Lineage 2. Probably just the same as many don't like the look and feel of World of Warcraft and can't get into it because they says it's "too cartoony". I find World of Warcraft much more playable then L2 however as the movement is smooth, fluid, and fast enough to where I don't feel like I'm watching my avatar crawl like a turtle to get from one place to another.
But that isn't why I feel that AC is vastly superior to L2.
For all you L2 lovers that think I'm failing to give specific enough reasons for my opinions lets do a little comparison shall we?
*** Armor and weapons: Just how many different weapons and armor sets are available in Lineage 2? Maybe 20 different armor sets as you level up that are level specific? Maybe 30 or 40 different weapons? Maybe 100 different weapons? Do tell me.
- Asheron's Call by contrast has thousands of different armor pieces and weapons, all with different Armor levels, skill requirments, race requirements, speed factors (for weapons), damage factors (weapons) and tons of them have random spells that are cast when the user equips the item. Furthermore almost all of the armor and weapons found are made up of different metals and can be either salvaged into raw components or can be combined with the salvage to change and alter the statistics. Everything from the items value to it's damage to its Armor level can be modified using tinkering skills and salvage saved from other un-needed loot.
*** Dungeons: Just how many unique and accessible dungeons are there in Lineage 2? We can count them on two hands I'm sure.
- Asherons Call blows L2 away here as well. Hundreds of different and unique dungeons are available throughout its seamless world. Dungeons contain secret doors, locked doors, and switches and buttons that can change the layout.
*** Skills: Lineage 2 uses a pyramid type of skill system. At the beginning, you can choose one of two vast options... a mystic or a warrior. From there you branch out by choosing usually one of two possible skills and branches. This results in tens of thousands of avatars looking and being EXACTLY the same.
- Asherons Call again blows this to shreds using dozens of unqique skills that are fully customizable with experience. Each different skill can be specialized and advanced with experience earned. This creates a real sense of "owning" your avatar and a feeling that you are unique and not a clone of 400,000 other players. Total control over your avatars skills and abilities rather then making "right" or "left" choices ten or twelve times through your advancement creating a million different exact clones as in Lineage 2.
*** PvP: Lineage 2 PvP is nothing more then two players using their seleced skills and equipment to see who will win. And since most players of the same level have EXACTLY the same skills and armor, it is merely a matter of who strikes first 90% of the time.
Asherons Call PvP can be wars that go on for an hour or more back and forth, with hundreds of possible war spells and the ability to dodge war spells. Healing kits combined with heal skills, actual skill, and being ready with the right armor and dozens of possible buffs and debuffs all play an important role in the outcome. Hmmm, hard to find the winner in this area of gameplay!
*** Quests: Lineage 2 quests are a simple matter of "Go kill X gobots". Enuf said.
Asheron's Call quests play into the lore and history of the virtual world of Dereth. Thousands of unique quests with rewards that offer just as much variety are available.
*** Updates and Content: Lineage 2 has had four (4) expansions since release.
Asherons Call has had 2 MAJOR expansions and over 70 monthly content updates and upgrades to the client and gameworld since its release. Need I say more?
This just touches the differences between Asherons Call and Lineage 2. I could go on and on and on, trust me. But I think that gives you an idea.
I know, I know.. But Lineage 2 rocks man! But Lineage 2 has better graffix!!! But Lineage 2 has more players. So it's the bestest game ever. Uh huh. Gotcha.
I gave you atleast 7 different reasons how AC's depth blows L2 to shreds and explained each in detail.
You just keep coming back with Lineage graphics is better and it has more people so it's better.
lets make this simple for you since you just don't seem to grasp any of it....
If LOOKS and NUMBERS were the only thing important, then Britney Spears is one of the BEST singers in the world, cuz as you say she is hotter then most other singers and she sells sooo many albums, so any reviewer who ever gives any of her albums a ONE STAR RATING is a dope by your calculations I'm guessing. Cuz all thats important is what it looks like and how many people are playing.
By those standard tho... why are you playing L2 when WOW is sooo much better??

Let's see, as I've already stated, I have compared many of the features of both games and the contrasting differences are HUGE.
But since you think that I need to level to the endgame of Lineage 2 every three months to know if I like the game or not... and since you seem to know L2 so well... do tell me and all of us..
How many dungeons are there in L2? How many different armor sets can I possibly have at say level 5? Is there more then 2 options at level 5 for armor??? Hmmm, how many different skills can I upgrade at any time in L2? How can I use my experience in L2 besides to level up? How many different quests are there in L2, and how far do they go beyond "go kill X mobs and come back for reward Z"?? How many different classes can be selected on entering the game with a newly created avatar? Further more, when you create that avatar... How many different options do you have for a unique look? A, B or C. Wow! And hair had 5 options!! amazing! Now not only will my skill set be EXACTLY the same as half the L2 population, but I will look exactly like 75% of the population too! WooT! And wearing the exact same armor at each incrementing level as 90% of the other players, boy will I feel like a unique avatar alright.
More questions for you... What role does the history of Lineage have to do with the game? How do quests tie into the overall story of L2? Can I cast portals to travel quickly in L2 and can I let other groupies and friends also enter that portal as in AC?? What components are required for magic spells? None you say? wow, what depth. How involved is PvP with two even leveled players with similar armor (or exact same in L2) besides the first one to attack will win??
Answer some of these questions before you continue to act as if I am a dork for not agreeing with you that Lineage 2 is the bestest game ever and deserving of a 10.0 on the ratings.

Lets start with the limited customization. you obviously failed to see why that is done on purpose. Lineage 2 is a raid game. the game is made for large scale pvp and large scale raids.and then I don´t talk about WoW´s raids of 40 people in pve, or 80 in pvp, I am talking about 200 in pve, Hundreds more in Castle sieges. imagine all these people had an unique look and all of them looked diffrent. trust me, you need a BADASS computer to get even a playable framerate. THIS is the reason why customization is so low.
The quests are indeed repetive, and the combat can get repetive as well. not that this is any diffrent from other MMORPG´s, but this is a place when L2 fails. at least, in the eyes of most western gamers. Lineage 2 does offers plenty of dungeons, and these look very impressive.
the history does not have much influence on the game. some locations are explained and some NPC´s will make mention of certain parts of the lore, but do not expect a deep story. in return, in Lineage 2, you CREATE the story. there is a deep history of clan wars in every server, there are heroes on every server, famous alliances because they defeated a raid boss that required over 200 people! also, Lineage 2 plays before Lineage 1.
Like I said, Lineage 2 is a raid game. the game is fully open pvp and is heavily based on clans. clans can take over castles, and once taken over, they can controll things like the Tax for their region. but guild vs guild does not only happen in the castle sieges, they happen all over the world. heck, guild vs guild? make that Alliance vs alliance. another strong part is the raiding. you can raid a lot of bosses from lvl 20 up to lvl 80. not only does this get rid of the ugly grind, its also actually fun. THAT is why every lineage 2 player tells you to get to at least lvl 40~50 before judging the game. at lvl 20, you experienced nothing of the game. yes you will have to work to get to the good part. don't come up with "why not just skip that" because it will not give you the same statisfaction. No, you don''t have those fancy portals in Lineage 2, instead you can buy scrolls to teleport you around.
Lineage 2 only focuses on 2 things. you just need to bite trough to the good part. Lineage 2 is far from perfect, I would personally give it a 7,5. but once you get to the good part, you have an experience no other game can deliver you. something you can't read on a forum.

Wow. You surpised me Gameloading and you finally backed up your strong defense of Lineage 2. I can "maybe" have a chance now to see why you like L2 so much and with my only getting to level 20 or so, that I didn't experience any of the fun.
I still will take games like AC where there is much more control over your avatars skills and class customization. I also like a strong death penalty in a game and think that dying should have a very strong penalty (even a little stronger death penalty then the current "Vitea Penalty" where all your stats are reduced until you gain exp and earn that vitea penalty back and loss of some loot in AC would make me happy). I enjoy a challenge and total control over as much as possible with my avatar. The more automated it is, and the less choices I have, the less I like it. Unfortunately, there isn't really any other games like AC at the time, and the direction mmos are going leaves me little hope. There is a lot of hard core mmo'ers like myself that would love another really challenging mmo, but the masses and money is with simplicity.
But atleast thanks for explaining exactly why you and so many others think L2 is so great. I never really got it before. I'm sure the raiding at end game is loads of fun, but I still would like a helluva lot more control on how my avatar looks and plays by that time he reaches that level 40 or 50 status. Then it just might be worth the grind and fighting the bots for loot and experience.

Why are you arguing about game ratings? You know it's all subjective. Plus grind times aren't actually subjective, they're going to be some objective number.
You should learn more about MMOs before making statements like this, since there are several MMOs with no levels at all, EVE is the first that pops into my head. There are also non-loot-based MMOs, in COH/COV for example loot is pretty much inconsequential.
I would like you to answer that question, since you seem to feel that it's wrong for people who don't like L2 to voice their opinion.

Its cool man, I didn't see the attack. Personally I don't really care whether anyone likes it or not. It just rubs me the wrong way when people may judgements about something they don't know about thats all. There is a difference between having an opinion and judging something.

Well...........I am married with 3 kids, I get about 2 hours maybe 3 if I'm not to tired from work, a day. Maybe a bit more on the weekends depending on what we having going on. I hate raiding also, as you know. Thats about the same amount od time I take in all the games I play.
Why are you arguing about game ratings? You know it's all subjective. Plus grind times aren't actually subjective, they're going to be some objective number.

People who don't like a game and discuss the reasons why are not 'jumping on the badwagon', and they're not launching some viscoius attack aimed to destroy the game. They're engaging in discussion on a discussion forum.
Easy bro........lots of people say good thing about other games. Why is it when someone says a game is good they are a fanboy? L2 isn't the only game I say good thing about and its not the only game I like.
In fact I would never recamend L2 to anyone unless they understood would it is about and that it will be "difficult" meaning hard grind and economy. If you go in with any sort of bias you will hate L2.
You should learn more about MMOs before making statements like this, since there are several MMOs with no levels at all, EVE is the first that pops into my head. There are also non-loot-based MMOs, in COH/COV for example loot is pretty much inconsequential.
True but these games are the exception not the rule. COH may not be loot based but is very level based. EVE....no idea.
I would like you to answer that question, since you seem to feel that it's wrong for people who don't like L2 to voice their opinion.
Well thats just my opinion
Its cool man, I didn't see the attack. Personally I don't really care whether anyone likes it or not. It just rubs me the wrong way when people may judgements about something they don't know about thats all. There is a difference between having an opinion and judging something.
True
Seriously, stop being a damn fanboy. "Oh no, someone said they don't like something in my game, they're jumping on the bandwagon to attack it". What would you want this thread to be, a bunch of fanboys sitting around saying "oh yeah, this game is great! There's nothing bad about it at all! That rating is obviously just alien space bats meddling with the numbers, there could never be any reason anyone could dislike it!".

(P.S. - the most awesome thing to do, for me anyway, in any MMO is to hop into my YT1300 in SWG and go for a spin! I don't care what anyone says about SWG, NGE, Sony or any of that crap, I love my YT1300!!!!)
You should learn more about MMOs before making statements like this, since there are several MMOs with no levels at all, EVE is the first that pops into my head. There are also non-loot-based MMOs, in COH/COV for example loot is pretty much inconsequential.

Lineage 2 is just a big huge grind...or so i've heard
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I played NA L2 from the start untill about C3, i understand that there are many things that have changed from then, but there are a couple of things that have not, and don't be surpised i still follow the games evolution, i loved that game and i am pretty sure one day i will go back, but not yet.
Thanks for your comments everyone.
- Zaxx
lmao, I admit that would be funny and entertaining to watch an old AC Darktider just slicing a Lineage character into about 27 pieces before the Lineage 2 character even moved his slow butt into an attack position!
And I agree. Asherons Call blows away Lineage 2. Ofcourse, doesn't its 8.1 rating over Lineage 2's 6.9 reflect that?

this is simply hilarious. you
say this thread convinced you to try it again, it has been created 2
days ago, and you think you even know what the game is about and how it
changed? I'm sorry, but I cannot stop myself to doubt you seriously bought the game on Direct2drive.
IT IS SLOW! GAWD! My avatar not only runs like he has a corncob up his butt, but he moves like a friggin SNAIL!
----------------------------------------
Your at the start of the game,
without any speed buffs or potions, what do you expect? if you bothered
to get past your first week of gameplay, you would know that Lineage
2's action is one of the fastest around.the only thing thats faster in asherons call is movement speed.
----------------------------------------
Not only that, but the graphics like most overseas Korean crap
mmo'ds look like they have a "paper-thin" depth. Like I could peel out
stickers of my avatar and the mobs from the screen. They have no real
depth feel or look to them and this kinda graphics drives me nuts.
World of Warcrafts graphics blow L2s away, sorry L2 fans.Um...No, lineage 2 completely
brows WoW´s graphics out of the water.I personally think the its one of
the few games where monsters actually feel alive
See, this is why I stick with the good ol' Asheron's Call. WooT!
I can increase my speed and quickness skills up as much as I want with

L2 character! HAHA! I'd take a extremely fast UA'er and attack the slow
turtle-guy so fast he'd be dizzy from my attacks, much less the
lightning fast damage my weapon would do! once a mage class got his right
equipment, buffs and tatoos, it would let your poor AC character in his
underwear before he could say " Help, PK!"
Speed Kills and Asherons Call would utterly destroy Lineage 2, despite L2s prettier, fancier graphics.
-----------------------------------------
Pretty funny consider AC is the one losing its subscribers. not that they ever had a lot to begin with.
-----------------------------------------
First off, this game is made in Korea where there are 4 billion mmo addicted nuts that kill themselves playing these mmos in cyber cafes. Big surprise this crappy game has a million people eh? ...Not.
Speaking of ratings, the 7 year old Asherons Call rating beat up Lineage 2's 6.9
score with an 8.1 !! 8.1 for an old game.. not bad eh? We also punch
out EQ2's score of 7.9 ! Rock on AC1! And AC1 is only $19.99 at
www.direct2drive.com as well. Hmmm, I know where the best bang for your
buck is....
-----------------------------------------
Yup, On Lineage 2, because Lineage 2 isn't slowly dying and has more subscribers then Asherons 7 year old combined
-----------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
your simply just another guy that has no clue what hes talking about you didn't play it enough. don't bother.
- Zaxx
- Zaxx
Zaxtor i respected your posts. Now you have lost credit.
OP came here to say this game have a low rating,it have many good content, that you didnt tried, good grafics...
It deserves more than 6.9,there are games with 8+ inferior to this one and with lesser content.
This game has grown vastly
And in 2 days you have grind a lot???
We are not descussing here about wish game have the faster char
Fast chars make good games?????OMG
*** Armor and weapons:
Just how many different weapons and armor sets are available in Lineage 2?
*** Dungeons:
Just how many unique and accessible dungeons are there in Lineage 2? We can count them on two hands I'm sure.
- Asherons Call blows L2 away here as well. Hundreds of different and unique dungeons are available throughout its seamless world. Dungeons contain secret doors, locked doors, and switches and buttons that can change the layout.
*** Skills:
Lineage 2 uses a pyramid type of skill system.
*** PvP:
Lineage 2 PvP is nothing more then two players using their seleced skills and equipment to see who will win.
*** Quests:
Lineage 2 quests are a simple matter of "Go kill X gobots". Enuf said.
Asheron's Call quests play into the lore and history of the virtual world of Dereth. Thousands of unique quests with rewards that offer just as much variety are available.
*** Updates and Content:
Lineage 2 has had four (4) expansions since release.
Uh huh. Gotcha.
- Zaxx
Is amazing to see how do you know all in lineage2 in 2 days, you have reach lvl 78 i guess...
You dindnt saw the OP???
This isnt L2 vs 800*600 game
btw your game is so good.on the past 4 mounts L2 got 20k new subs(US/EU only),lineage1 with 10 years got 2k new subs(US/EU only)
How many subs lost your best game in the world in this time???
Warcry, you are like arguing with a rock.
I give up.
- Zaxx

I know enough.
Ya ya do.
Otherwise, this discussion is over with you.
