Also, the breakneck pace of leveling seemed a bit much. It's like they know people simultaneously hate having to level up, but they also love the dopamine rush of gaining a level, so the developers chose to give you a ding every five minutes to shepherd you along the painful journey. Here's an idea: Maybe just don't bother with levels at all. It's so pointless and unnecessary.

Amazon did state that they jacked up the leveling pace for the test period.  Not sure how much but I agree it was crazy fast.   In casual play I am level 48/50 as of Saturday.

This often causes whining by some if the leveling pace is slowed down after launch.

The game is 7/10 to me I played a Bow/Dagger and the combos and animations were fluid for me. I didnt feel like I was skill locked in anyway.  Targeting could use some work though.

Regarding leveling your gear lets say you have a +6 green piece of gear and get that new shiny blue you can transfer the xp of the +6 green to the blue so you dont have to spend hours re-grinding your mats. There is also no way to fail enchanting your gear, every attempt adds to the xp bar on an enchant once it hits 100 you get it, so that could happen on your 1st try ,2nd, or 4th for example.  Not like Lost Ark where you straight fail and lose the mats.

Graphics look great as far as character and some parts of the open world(i only got to lvl 25 areas).  Instancted dungeons were meh, but the open world dungeons looked awesome and takes you deep into a layered world.

Fast travel was a breath of fresh air no loading screens and you are your own mount from lvl 1.

As far as it being very solo friendly...well thats not very ncsoft-esque.  To participate in the most fun stuff you will need to be guilded.

I will give a try with controller on release cause frankly I really did not like the combat on kb in either action or classic though classic was better.

I played one evening and I am not sure why peeps are comparing this to GW2, its nothing like it and the combat in gw2 is miles and miles better. Maybe they mean about the multiple currencies and such?

I have discord mates that tried it too and they had the same stuff happen to them on NA20 where some guild needing 8+ guilds to hold all their members were controlling a boss spawn area and any stepping a foot inside were insta killed.  Frankly is this is happening in a open beta it going to be sad when live...lol

For me the game is like 6/10

I like the story or what i have seen of it and the cinematics were very nice!

The combat however I found sucks arse and felt like playing some old year 2000 mmo.

I also don't like how the game is set up with pvp as endgame in mind etc but I am sure some people will enjoy this at least until server become dominated by one guild ruling all and goo luck getting into the inner circle.

I wish it had better combat like say in New World instead of this janky weird thing they go going on.

At the end of the day it's kind of the same thing just presented differently.   Yes, every attempt moves your bar positively  but the amount it moves is randomly assigned into 4 buckets from low to high.  So one time I can use X mats to level an item.  The next time it might take 4X because I got "low" rolls.

I think seeing the bar move makes you feel better, but at the end of the day if it takes 4 times the mats its the same as outright failing 3 times before succeeding.  It's just hidden.

I am so sick of those games that simply take your resources when you fail. I just cannot any more. I really hate that mechanic because it absolutely wastes both the time you took to gather the resources and the resources themselves. I was on that treadmill and I was mindlessly hoping my next upgrade will work and as usual RNG killed the game for me. Fuck games that do this.

Glad to see this is not the case here. These days I look carefully how a game treats upgrades before sinking any time into them. I am not foolish enough to do this dance and fail each time and it leaves such a sour taste that you plain want to quit the game there and then.

Punishing RNG has made me quit more games than I can count and when games move away from this mechanic will I finally breath a sigh of relief. The pity mechanic better not be so far away it is simply not worth even looking at. I tried in Path of Exile to reach the pity for the six links and gave up and just bought my chestpiece but it wasn't as good as it could have been had I succeeded on the one I had been working on. Don't even get me started on Undecember.

I mean, it's free-to-play so I'll play it. I'm just not dumb enough to spend money to get in 5 days early. And if I really like a cosmetic, I'll buy it :)

Sounds like hte hardcore guys did and are max level before most will even start....Good luck getting killed by these guys over and over in the contested zones.

Pretty sure they said they would have non-headstart servers at launch. To avoid that.

Mixed feelings here. There were some positive elements, but combat is so weak and targeting is a nightmare. Lots of traditional boring MMO elements, too. I think it could go either way, the game is right on the edge between positive and negative.

I had very strong Elyon vibes when playing this - the good and the bad. Let's see what the devs and Amazon will do with T&L.

At the very least, Amazon is very unlikely to shut it down, unlike Kakao. They just might be happy with a stable of B-class online games, each attracting MMO players with periodic updates. As long as AGS will have a relatively stable group of players migrating between their products, AGS will be ok with that - even if they don't have a global hit among them.
