50K that couldnt wait 5 days. I know I know, I'm broke etc. Main reason I didn't bother with EA is because launch will already have their own new servers so its kinda whatever. You're not technically getting 'left behind' not playing EA unless they royally fk up and make certain stuff account-wide (certain currencies etc) vs server wide.

Well, seeing how this is Amazon and they love to merge servers after numbers drop, some day that headstart investment might pay off a little.

Honestly, that'll always be the case with titles like these. If I was a betting person, I'd say Amazon will announce serge merges 6 months post launch, and probably 'fresh start' servers within 3 months of that. I've played Archeage fresh start servers enough times to be satisfied within their first month before they start to go downhill from there and I'll treat TnL the same. Have my fun then leave.

It will surpass 100k on the 1st of October, I'm sure of that.

I am interested to see how much it will retain after 1 month.

As I mentioned elsewhere, the amount they charged, divided by days until official launch, was much less than I spend on lunch each day.

I have the time now and for the most part I've enjoyed my experience not taking account into some major criticisms on my part.

But they're my criticisms. Probably doesn't matter to most.

The criticisms do matter, but ultimately they shouldn't impact anyone's decision.

Hell, going into it, I know there are things that I don't like, or appreciate, but until I spend some time, I have no idea if those things will impact enjoyment. Since a perfect game doesn't exist, it's always about compromise.

Probably merge sooner than that, as I understand it, 9 months in South Korea, and they have already merged a few times. Both good and bad I suppose. I appreciate the commitment to keeping servers feeling populated, and I think that's essential where the premier content revolves around large groups.

Having watched more than a few videos, and seeing that the committed FTP players can approximate gear score, and can still beat people who are spending. (One advantage of Rock, Scissors, Paper type combat) I suspect that the advantage people get starting 5 days early is going to be minimal in 30 days, and close to non-existent in 180 days, probably won't matter then where they merge to. How much people play and grind, and how much they spend will be far bigger markers than how much sooner someone started.

Either or, good call, play it, get what you can or want out of it, and then move on.

Amazon is just the publishing they have nothing to do with decision like merging servers.

Me mentioning it doesn't really mean I give a fk. The one thing I just hate hearing people say is how "I'm gonna get left behind" etc etc when they dont even know servers will be separate for a while, so I'll at least give AGS credit for doing that when they didn't have to. I guess the other advantage is that those people can keep playing and avoid the obvious f2p queues.

Merging servers is part of this game, eventually a Guild Alliance comes out at the reigning champs of the server, so then they merge servers that have multiple "Alpha" alliances so they have to duke it out, its part of the whole loop, so yes, expect them eventually.

How does what another person uses their disposable income on makes  you life worse? My friends buy stupidly expensive handbags and Ferragamo scarves which I consider stupid , I don't think it makes my life worse.  I just think buying expensive clothes and handbags is a waste of money.

Are you jealous because they got in early? Just wait and play. There is no need to rush and play everything as soon as it launches.

There is obviously a demand for early access so developers are capitalizing on it but to say it makes your life worse is a dramatic take on this. Don't exaggerate the significance of early access.

On past performance I would expect server merges before that and that is not a reflection of what I think of this game. It comes from what I see as a direction of travel for this genre compounded by changes over the last twenty + years in how long players will stay in any game before they move on.

WoW had over 200k within it's first day back in 2004.

Given that T&L had 50k and ALL Early Access, it may see it's initial "Official" release climb up there with WoW.

I've been clinging to WoW since Beta 2004, I want to make it to my "20 years playing WoW" benchmark but the "New and Shiny" is also improving or so it appears to some.

I did not buy T&L atm. Not greatly fond of Asian Layouts of MMOs, may it be the UI or squeaky voice overs ect, but who knows, a time may eventually come where I can start a new 20 year journey (sheesh, I'll be in my late 70's) in an MMO where I can feel part of the World/Community.

    Time will tell. :)

Wait until they start charging you extra to play a month early. Then 3 months. Then a year.

This has nothing to do with the game success or how good it is. This just shows how desperate people are for a new MMO that is quality. We saw that with new world almost a million people at the start playing the game and that quickly dropped off.

bruh, basically you are now comparing a f2p with a few days of convenient headstart to a subscription model title. Nobdy gives a fk one year ahead, as developers might do a 180 on their decisions three times by the time one year passes and announce that the game is so good it won't be f2p at all. ;) wallets make the decisions - less people falling into these traps, more likely these "standards" will stay as they are or crawl back a few feet to the hole they came from.

People demand F2P games they won't even bother with your game if they don't get to play for free. No one is going back to a subscription model. Hell I prefer a sub to the microtransaction and gacha shit they have these days. Where we used to get everything for a sub. I want that model. Please bring it back pretty please.

Do you mean play a finished game or early access? Because in early access they "sort of" do that. And by that I mean players have access to the game in development.

    Not really quality playing though.

I feel like most f2p games can serve a purpose, but the problem isnt exactly the game or the model but the company managing them. To me, f2p games are perfect when something like WoW or FF14 has a lul in content and I just dont feel like paying for them until the next update. Problem is, I'm obviously not the only one who thinks like that, so cash shops tend to supplement that dip (or in FF14's case, I bet they make more off the cash shop vs actual subs given that they update it monthly). Gacha I'll never defend, but microtransactions can be not as bad depending on what they are and how they are implemented. Prime example is giving a person the ability to buy previous collab event items or old out-of-season items. Sadly a lot of companies will release something new related to the season and have actual garbage seasonal rewards in game.

Problem is most of the games that require a sub also have a cash shop and microtransactions, so you dont really gain anything by paying a sub....In the end, the goal for these companies is to make money....There are employees that are paid very well to figure out how to squeeze the maximum amount of money out of customers.
