Gotta say Lineage 2 is the best right now. Been playing 2 years and nothing else has even remotely caught my attention. The only thing though is you have to be dedicated and the game had a bad start. I gotta say World of Warcraft had L2 by the nuts for awhile in how good it was, but Lineage 2 has shaped into a good game. Anything wrong with Lineage 2 is found in all games no matter what people say, or it is not a true MMORPG.
I think there is no perfect mmorpgout at this time, I think there will never be
I think the only thing close to satisfaction is World of Warcaft
The gameplay is I think the best of all the mmorpg's ive played, not that WoW is so good just others suck. example: L2 is for people who like to kill wolves and skeletons 24/7 and reach the max lvl when they get grandchildren. Also I hate it that u cant even jump or normally walk into a door or onto a little stone. CoH/CoV is questing only, I like the originality though and all the flying powers etc. I could start about priston tale or runescape or some other crap but they suck DOH.
So I'd say WoW is the best mmorpg (that ive played) and it has gotten me addicted for the longest time :P WOW
EvE Online gets 2nd place =D

Well the new king of the grinders is Dark and Light unless it gets changed very soon.
Eve is probably the finest game out there - only wish I had stuck with it through the post launch bugs.

This realy can be a hard quastion to anserw since it does depend on personlatiy...i wouldnt say WOW its a pay game (duh!) and it realy does get boring i unless to me u realy are into it or a WOW nerd....i would realy suggest WARHAMMER ONLINE even thoguh its still beign made heh. dont let the hype make u doubt it since most plp think its gonna suck cuz EA did something to mythic who is making it and since some dumb WOW lovers think its gonna be a WOW clone. yeah my suggestion sucked just talked about warhammer o well im realy excited about it.

For achievers: City of Villains. (illogical achieving systems are automatically inferiors from an achiever point of view, so if you reward the wrong persons, you lose everything, they do that less than other MMO, thereby it is the less bad MMO rather than the best, MMOs really lack from an achiever point of view, despite the amount of stuff to achieve, it complete lack of a logical progression ruin them completely...for example, if you make a soloer the best grouper, it lack, it is unfair. If you make the best grouper a raider, it also lack and it is also unfair, best grouper has to be a grouper...basic achievement 101.) Oblivion is a better game for any achiever than any of these MMOs, despite the difference in the amount to achieve...an achiever prefer more, as long as the quality remain...when they ask peoples to do non-related activities to achieve, it lose all achieving merit and credit, it is worth nothing and can be deleted without a second though.
For Killers: Guild Wars
For Explorers: EverQuest
For socialisers: EverQuest 2
For Casuals: City of Villains
For Customisations : City of Villains
For Crafting : I dunno and I don't care.
Best tutorial: World of Warcraft
See, peoples are rarely 100% something in particuliar, and mix can lead to other answer, like a socialising-killer would prolly love DAoC, even if this ain't the best for a killer, it is great RvR...
