Quests are pretty darn good. People say they were mindless, but some of them presented their own challenges. I remember doing my Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe quest for my warlock, and having to be tricky to finish it before the robes were worthless. Then there were the Plagueland quests; Araj was quite a fun fight, we had rotating groups take out adds around him so one group could focus on him alone. It was like a little invasion of Andorhal.
Crafting from level 1-59 is pretty good. EQ2 is more complex, but WOW works okay. You get useful items up until 59.
5-man instances were, to my way of thinking, pretty good. Even the few at 60 were good and challenging.
No instanced zones is teh awsumz. I tried EQ2, but seriously, it's just not the same. That much freedom is damn hard to give up that easy.
Pet pathing/scripting was really good. I almost never had any real screw-ups as a warlock or hunter.
The Worst
Itemization. It's destroyed every other aspect of the game, because they determined that the best items can only and always come through raiding, and that raids require previous raids to get gear to survive new raids. Yeah, right, woohoo.
The PVP system. F***ing all of it. I have yet to hear even one rank 14 say that it was worth the time/effort to get there. Not one. Then there are the folks who exploit things like AFKing out of matches, the crappy rewards, and the utter lack of world PVP.
Focus on raiding. I don't want raiders to not have something to do; keep everything that's there now. Just implement more for the rest of us, is all I'm saying. If it takes a 40-man raid 3 hours to get a chance of some epics worth a damn, how about allowing a 5-man group 24 hours of work to get a chance for the same thing? Or even more hours for that 5-man group? Something, anything, to give people who just can't raid due to schedules and whatnot a chance to step up to the plate. I want to work for epics, but I just can't raid. Give me an alternative that gives me comparable gear, and bam, I'll resub in the morning when I get home.
Server instability. God, let's see. There used to be hellish queues (not sure if that's still true, but they were hours-long back when I quit). There was lag even in underpopulated areas. Random server outages (especially annoying during raids, BG matches, etc.). Hell, even the website seems quirky at times. Dude, mabye they should have got a Dell...
Blizzard staff. These guys are funny. They never talk to the public, save through special people that aren't allowed to tell anyone anything. And rather than allow valid or reasonable complaints to be posted on the forums, these posts are deleted, locked, swept under the rug as fast as can be. There is absolute denial that WOW has problems of any kind, and absolutely no attempt to compensate players for Blizzard's lack of ability to provide the service they were paid to provide (after all, if the EULA and TOS say they don't have to give you squat, you don't get squat). I am also annoyed with the utter lack of professionalism exhibited by even the Blues who do post; it's bad enough they don't tell customers anything useful, far worse when they do it in a mean, arrogant way.
Would I go back to WOW? Maybe. But not until a whole hell of a lot changes between now and then. Total PVP revamp. New, better non-raid content. More sensible itemization. More stable servers. Better staff.
Rather than hold my breath and wait for such impossible fantasies, I wait and watch for a better MMO.
Worst: Inaccessability for everyone post level 60 if you do not enjoy repetitive raids and/or having to join an uber guild and play on a weekly schedule, deal with loot systems, etc. etc.
Best - The best thing has probably been me cancelling my subscription.
Worst - The artwork is awful and completely nonexistant in places. They use the same models for buildings, instances, caves, etc. and throw different textures on it that look like it was drawn in MS Paint.
The quests. The quests are extremely repetitive, boring, and no different than grinding without quests. They ask you to kill random mobs to receive items that have a 5% drop rate for the entirety of the game. This will never change.
The community. The community is absolutely awful, I abhor the community in World of Warcraft. It seems that the game is comprised of 12 year old idiots who randomly send tells saying things like "LOL I'M GAY" (yes, this was something I actually experienced). Not to mention the guy in Iron Forge who was spamming general chat with "STARTING NEW GAY HATING GUILD, LOOKING FOR MEMBERS PST". It's ridiculous to see the kinds of people World of Warcraft has attracted.
The (lack of) PvP. Every now and then you'll see a Night Elf hunter who's 20 levels lower than you in Hillsbrad but that about covers it for world PvP, and that's only if you're on a PvP server. The battlegrounds are simply atrocious. It's as if WoW played DAoC said hey that's not so bad of an idea lets tone down the graphics, remove any strategy required, and make this the complete core of our "PvP" system!
The grind that is PvE. From 1-59 you'll either be soloing your life away in Desolace or stuck in a major city spamming for an hour or two "LEVEL 35 WARLOCK LFG" for an instanced cave. It's all a boring lonely grind while you spam sinister strike on countless numbers of the same mob for two hours until you level just so you can get to level 60 and its lack of end game. Which leads me to...
The (lack of) endgame. The endgame in World of Warcraft basically consists of being an elitist idiot in a raiding guild who pisses away 6 hours a day of his life raiding MC to get a drop for his class every two runs. I'm sure some people enjoy this mindless drivel but I can assure you the majority absolutely despises it. The other half of people who are level 60 have absolutely no chance in competing in the garbage battlegrounds and are abandoing their friends and small local guilds to join the elitists who recruit 5 people every two months.
The (lack of) customization. Well to start you can select between about 4 hair styles (2 of which anyone actually uses), you can choose 5 different skin tones, minor changes of the face, hair color, and that about covers it when you create your character. You can't select height, weight, eye color, build, starting attributes, or anything. As you progress in the game you soon realize you can not dye your armor either so from levels 1-59 you're usually wearing a brown piece, a blue piece, a red piece, and a purple piece. You can not decide where your stats go as you level up and by the time you reach 60 everyones armor is exactly the same.
Customer service. Blizzard has always been less than helpful to me when I had an issue or a question for them, never do they take action and instead allow indecencies and idiocy to roam rampant throughout their game. You can yell in Ogrimmar all day "HAIL HITLER! WHITE POWER!" and nothing will happen to you, it's ridiculous.
Did I mention the community?
"Time.." I chuckled "I hold no secret to time, though it's mystery puzzles me. Deny it's existence and lie to myself not with hopes of a quickened pace."
Best: their in-game email system. having the ability to transfer currency and items to other characters (including your own) in the server, without the presence and assistence of another character. It is a feature that all MMOs had.
Worst: the lag. their servers are either instable to play on or are totally shutdown. It can be frustrating when some players schedule certain things to do in the game but several characters keep getting disconnected.
Gameplay is amazing. Graphics are fine, infact WoW is one of the few games recently that seemed to hit the gameplay > graphics thing straight on the head. Yes there's prettier games, but very few play as good.
Sadly, the rest of the game has nothing to offer me, a poor pvp system, a poor raiding system. They've basically made everything revolve around farming and items. Char customisation is poor, community is poor, customer support poor, crafting poor, economy poor.

um, what are you customizing in wow?
In most MMOs if you see two people that are same class and same level, they have the exact same armor on.
But in WoW there are so many types of armors, and quests that give unique armors, the choices for your armor and looks are highly customizable.
from your posts, i see that you're new to wow.
talk to me when you hit 60 about customization. not only can you not change the color on anything you own; but there is only one armor at high level for 90% of the players. tier 0.5 (or 1/2), tier 1, tier 2, and finally tier 3. everyone will be wearing it. the gnome warlock will be dressed exactly like the human warlock (just way shorter).
as a ratio, let's put it like levels 1-59 combined = 5% of your toon's life, and level 60 = the other 95%.
... theres a set for every class, high level weapon enchants glow and the tiers are DAMN hard to get
there are 2 knids of people in this world:those who understand sarcasm and those who dont
the guy that created it is hilarious. notice the picture with all the lvl 60 rogue's? where he claims all lvl 60 rogues look the same? thats from the european TEST REALM, where Blizzard made pre-made characters for the tester. not to mention EVERY SINGLE ONE of his complaints is in EVERY SINGLE OTHER mmorpg as well. the website is made by a typical hater, he only picked WoW as a victim because its the most popular the guy that created it is hilarious. notice the picture with all the lvl 60 rogue's? where he claims all lvl 60 rogues look the same? thats from the european TEST REALM, where Blizzard made pre-made characters for the tester. not to mention EVERY SINGLE ONE of his complaints is in EVERY SINGLE OTHER mmorpg as well. the website is made by a typical hater, he only picked WoW as a victim because its the most popular

All I have to say is if its anything like Diablo 2, it's only worth playing for a little while, then it gets really boring. Ive never played it but a friend of mine has it and it seems like the sole point of it is to get to a high lvl and get good gear and thats it. Maybe PvP a little, but thats not always the best thing to do. I want a game with an actual story line and good PvP. The collision detection sucked from what i saw too.
