This is my revew:
And I'd like to say .. Don't listen to all the hate posts. They have found it their hobby to thrash this game. Very immature behaviour in my oppinion:
This is an amazing game!
The launch was painful.. A lot of delay. Some bugs. But the developers
are some of the nicest I have ever been around. And AD who are paid by
Dark and Light do an amazing job on moderating the forums, the irc
channel and the game. As well as making great in game events. Man.. The
world is amazing. Graphics are really good too. Sometimes a little lag.
But, the developers are working on it. And the graphics is going to
improve a lot!.. I can't wait till I see this game grow.. This is
definitely worth my time. .. The possibilities are just enormeous. It's
real breathing world!
I created a guild.. Lots of people to recruit.. And we are doing great.
Becoming better friends by the day.. I can't wait till we get our own
Fort and start launching attacks at other guilds' forts.. It will be
amazing.
And all the Roleplaying events we can make.. It's going to be really
great. Also.. This game has some pretty unique advancement access.
Especially the Social axis. With which you can enter politics!
You can become a baron, a duke.. Hell even a king!
And this is not just a title.. You can control city guards.. You must
give authorization for new guilds to create cities. And if you are the
king. You have a complete army to control!
This game is truly awesome.
Hmm.. But a lot of things are being worked on at the moment. Some
content is locked. But, many patches are coming and the developers are
very hardworking and ambicious. They have been working on this game for
6 years.
It's their life project.
I expect a lot more to come from this game!! I believe in it.. And can
definitely recommend this to other players out there.
In time.. This will become the biggest MMORPG ever!
With 100.000+ players on one server. Playing, interacting and oh my
god.. Having so much fun!!
Comments
Potential is all this game used to have
Does it have the backing to accomplish what it could be?
From past history no.
From what has been done in 4 years of work no.
All your are talking about is what COULD happen. Just the FAQ stuff that got everyone (including us "haters") into this game. Look at what IS happening. Most players are hating this game and letting others know about it.
You took the blue pill.
I had the red.
If you want to control cities, be king and command armies and guards, I suggest you buy Shadowbane.
And if you're willing to wait, Age of Conan.
Oh, and there is no way this game will reach 100 000 subscribers.
Absolutely no way.
this post smells like a hired shill....
but ok....
Not my experience at all. Nothing but aggrevation and pain with this title for me. I have a system that is a top of the line Alienware machine and I can't barely run the thing. Settings have to be way down for me to move at all. And even then, the camera is so awful that it is unplayable imo.
Also, there is nothing to do..
Sure its a great big world but it is empty.
Also, character creation is dreadful. Your avatar looks like garbage. Now they say they will fix this. But how? I've already made my character. Hasn't that ship already sailed? Oh I see, I need to reroll every time you fix something?
Bye for now!
First off...
To be honest I've never played the game. That's right, I've never played it and I couldn't be happier.
From what I've read and seen, this is one of the worst MMOs, if not game, ever made. In four years, they've promised so much and delivered so little. Then to add insult to injury, they slapped the few remaining devoted fans with a pricing plan from hell.
Content can't be locked if it doesn't exist.SoG was DnL and as an 'entree' it failed horribly.
The closed beta lasted 1 week, and from what I heard, not much got fixed.
The screenshots are dated and some are doctored.
The videos were not impressive at all. Clunky animations, ugly models and low FPS.
Features that were promised, have not been delivered.
I'm sorry for my blunt tone, but you are either a dev in disguise, being paid or are ridiculously optimistic.
Oh and there was no open beta. Unlike other MMOs, this probably increased their sales as many people got curious and bought it, instead of having the oppurtunity to try it.
And my god, the price! THE PRICE! ::04
How can they even think of charging so much? Not to mention how misleading it is...
Unlike almost every other MMO in existence, the box price ($40) DOES NOT include a month's playtime. Monthly fee is an extra $15!
So the total price for the game + 1 month's playtime is $55.
That's on par and in some cases, much higher than other MMOs.
If the devs had any integrity whatsoever, they would've priced DnL as the budget game that it is.
But due to their greed, it's in the same price bracket as other real MMOs such as WoW, EvE, EQ2, CoV, FF etc.
From the media they've released and the overwhelming amount of critical reviews...
In my opinion, this game cannot possibly hope to compete and will be dead very soon.
Personally, I think it's painfully obvious (even from an casual observer, like me) that NPCube are trying to milk DnL for all it's worth. The price plan, the lack of open beta/free trials, heck, they've even gone to such lengths as trying to fill MMORPG.com with overly optimistic, (and in my opinion, obviously FAKE) reviews.
Many of the more dedicated posters in this forum are not posting because it's an immature hobby, it's to warn people that this game is crap. NPCube are scam artists. Maybe not to the degree of other larger-scale scams but they are willing to and have conned many people, with their expensive and misleading pricing, their false 'marketing talk' and their history of dodgy behaviour that has been documented by some of the other posters on this board.
MMO veterans are less likely to be duped by your 'review' but there are many people that are new to MMOs/games and the description of DnL may sound appealing to their newbie ears.
Personally, I'm disgusted by people that try to bilk the naive and innocent of their money.
This game is of very low quality and is priced way too high.
NPCube and all the fake posters/reviewers, should be ashamed of themselves.
Sorry for the long rant...In my opinion, you're much better buying almost any other MMO, rather than this disaster. Heck, for $55 you can even buy a very sweet collection of budget games. Recently, I got boxed retail versions of SWAT4 Gold, Beyond Good & Evil and KOTOR1&2 for little over $70.
This is perhaps the best post I have ever read! I am sure you will not get back to read my and others comments on this, you will be making new accounts to post on this and other boards about how good the game is. I truely appriciate someone who is willing to take one in the butt for the team. I hope they pay you well and you don't have problems sleeping at night. Then again I am sure the SS officers slept well too, confident that they were doing the Riech thing.
An excellent post. It warms my heart to see that there are those who have more problems than me, and trust me if anyone truely believe what you have written, they don't need an MMORPG, they already live in a fantasy.

I think in 1 or 2 month DNL will be the best mmo ever done. Everyone, play DNL!!
LOL
Ok, I think we need a ref to step in and penalize someone for abuse of the word "Potential" please.

I also think there needs to be a ban on people creating accounts and first-posting in the D&L forum, such as this first-post-wonder Infomercial.
Yes, this is by far one of the most poorly written Infomercials I've read in a loooong time (journalism background), though it's very blatant that that's what it is.
It contains little or no 'hard sell' for the game at present, but talks merely about what the game *might* be, no will or should about it. Might be.
And probably not at that.
Infomercial: You know when you watch Better Homes & Gardens, of some holidays abroad show on TV, highlighting some beautiful resort on an island you've never heard of? The majority, as in 99% of the destinations visited are slots on the TV show paid for by the resort or PR company; usually including a package deal of TV show spot and magazine article. Very dodgy 'journalistic' ethics.
These such OPs are about as pathetic, the first post wonders, "come and play D&L with us Dev- err us players! It'll be great one day!"
Do you absolute **** ****ers even read your own forums? Do you realise how much of a big pot full of cow shit you've been sold?
All I can say is fuck off and die, fucking vermin.

Oh. My. God.
Ok at this point, the suspision that the OP is a one time posting shill is pretty evident.
But to compare the DnL people to the SS?!?
Let's not lose perspective here people.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

What is shill and what's it stand for? First I've seen it is on the D&L forums here in the last couple of days.

Shill is a term for someone with no affiliation to a product to hype it in any way he/she can including ratings, forum posts, chat rooms and even emails. A good shill account is created in advance of a products release in anticipation of spreading hype that would appear to be from a credible and reliable member of the community. These firms are paid by product developers to engage in these activitys there by fooling would be consumers who are looking for peoples honest opinions into buying a product based only upon the hype they generate. It is used as a derogatory term to describe any account name suspected of, or proven to engage in such activities. I have no idea where the phrase was coined but somewhere in the DnL forums is a post with links detailing what a nefarious practice this is and that it is becomming much more popular with the rise in popularity of mmorpgs.
Edit: on a side note I find typing Shill preferable to "fake account name used to spread groundless hype"
But it has become the catch word of the DnL forums.
The OP appears to be someone unfamiliar with the game or the people involved in it and his whole post seems to be taken from the FAQ for DnL.

Nice, thanks. Almost read like a dictionary! hehe.
Is as much as what I thought it would be, just never seen the word prior to this appauling release, so was curious to know where it surfaced from.
And so it seems that a word coined with distaste on the D&L forums is now being used to describe people coming here to do exactly that in favour of D&L?
Funny stuff *put in that stupidly over-used  emote from the D&L forums here... three times*.
