I really enjoy a space based mmo. I've tried Anarchy Online, but it just seemed....I don't know...too wierd, to different. So I left it. I've been playing City of Heroes and City of Villians lately. For my sci-fi fix Homeworld 2 has been filling the void. It looks like Star Trek Online will be interesting. I can't wait for it to enter beta!
I like realistic mmorpg's, but also enjoy medieval/fantasy type as well, as long as the graphics are realistic.
Right now I'm looking forward to Pirates of the Burning Sea.
But I wouldn't be offended if someone made an MMORPG off a couple authors I'm reading right now.
Christine Feehan's DARK series (Immortals, Vampires, Psychics, Mad Scientists, Hunters, and most recently DragonKeepers).
Or L.A. Banks series (Minion, The Awakening, The Hunted, The Bitten, and The Forbidden)
which though they have vampires and guardians of light in it, the substream of the storyline is very deep and someone interested in the different layers of consciousness would appreciate it, as well as those with deep conviction, and those who can look outside the box.
I has in it Vampires, Holy Warriors, Deamons, Were-deamons, Ghosts, Polterguists, Seers, Witches, Succubis, Familiars, etc..basically, I highly suggest the ones doing it to start from the beginning of the series and read through it.
I could see NPCS being used for those who get bitten or have to be protected, and the players who could play the good side or the bad side. Definately PvP type of game.
But sometimes it isn't what it seems, even sometimes the bad side ends up working for the good side.
This series definately has twists and plots in it that keep me on the edge of my seat!
And would definately be good materials for either a movie or a mmorpg game. *chuckles*
One things for certain, I like a game that has interaction, not just a lot of pvp, but social interaction as well in it.

Men are like fine wine. Be sure to stomp on some of them, leave them in the dark, and wait until they've matured enough to want to have dinner with them. *winks*
MMO setting? Song of Fire and Ice; barrowights, elder 'children' dragon / humans, normal humans, sorcery, warriors, a cryptic cult and lots more. Valar morghulis!
unlike some im a OLD gamer( let me stress OLD gamer), back when there was anolog modems ,2400 baud modems, back when we played on bbs boards... i waited along time for mmogs visual graphics to get advance enought to reflect my minds eye how a wizards effects and spell did in my amagination,,, from days of d&d ,mech warrion pen and paper days on that note i like them all but i do favor sci-fi and fanasty, and the way they done some of the historical mmog has has won a spot in my gamers heart ww2 online
Well, indeed, i suppose that you cant say which sort of Game is "better". Even the poll cant say the truth, because you cant ask the same number of people that are playing the sort: Fantasy or others that prefer: Future
So but at last it is a nice way to find out what the most of us that we are discussing here like.
And for myself i have to add me to the others that said: Fantasy :-)
And here is my opinion why i prefer such games:
In the Middle-Ages, where Fantasy was quite a large discussing topic for everyone (look at whitches or mages and so on) everyone lived in pain of those people. In our days, it seems so fantastic to be someone, to be able to cast spells and more more more more more.. So i suppose it is just another way to make the dream of a huge number of people come true - The dream of Fantasy.
Kill everyone who don't know - They may like it :-D
Neocron II would rock if they would make it alittle more mainstream and polish up the blocky graphics. Make it more interactive and less plain dark and gritty and you might have an awesome futuristic sci-fi setting that could pass Anarchy Online.
lets see, I'd like to see a MMO of the Fallout universe...kinda Retro-futuristic post apacolyptic setting. the Fallout 2 Rpg was the best Rpg ever made in my opinion (though biowares stuff comes close)
Second world id like to see made into an MMO is Brian Lumley's Vampire world of sunside/starside where you can play as a Wamphyri. raid into sunside and convert/slaughter traveler tribes, build aeries outa body parts, craft warriors, flying creatures and other wierd stuff. and the blood wars of course...heavy duty warfare...
So far, my fave is Fantasy settings. I would like to play a sci-fi type setting but haven't found a game that looked interesting enough for me to buy. Although I did try SWG over a year ago, and again just recently (shocked at how different it was now).
What I would LOVE to see in an MMO or even just a stand alone or NWN type game is Shadowrun. If I ever win a huge lottery, it's something I'd try to develope.

Do not hate it, but instead embrace the diversity.

space settings are just not my thing.because i get caught up in making money in them to much to actually get the feel of the mechanics of the game.

I voted Futuristic
I couldnt vote in your poll.
Because my answer is a Star Wars setting.
But the word "Star Warsy" makes me want want to launch a personal Jihad. So, yeah.
