Hehe, course. I was bored so I decided I'd look for a little bit more simulariretes between the 2 then just Sci-fi.... I was really that bored.

Well, I've played enough of WoW (Hi end raiding guild and all) to know that if you want to do something  at all you have to devought at least 5 hours ahead of time to the game, and even then you don't always kill a boss or whatevers. Which is annoying to say the least.

    Ich sehne mich

    doch ich find es nicht

WAR is a PVP game with PVE designed around the PVP.WOW is a PVE game with PVP designed around the PVE. So really PVP fans will love WAR compared to WOW. I for one loved the RVR in DAOC and miss it and can't wait till WAR.

WOW is mostly repetive PVE instances and really not much else to do.  PVP is fun break but its not that great in WOW.

So really all games share similarities but core of WAR and WOW is totally different. One is PVP based games while other is a PVE game. So really is pointless to compare 2 totally different types of games when the play experiences will be totally different.

actually war is rvr with a guild wars fighter in it also. Pvp is generally put in with ffa games. Id think if i was to attempt to compare war to anything it would be a daoc guildwars hybrid with more new ideas added in. Reason guild wars the 8 skills taken to the bg idea. So you got 50 skills but only 8 go with you into a fight. Also the skirmish mode. 8v 8 hmm whats that sound like. I think the game will be fun none the less.

I've have the privelege of playing both WoW (since beta) and the table top Warhammer, as well as Warhammer 40k. I am leaving WoW to test open beta (assuming I am invited) and play WAR during release. I don't think there's much of a comparison really, all fantasy games have a little bit of ripped/repirsed lore. I'm pretty sure the gameplay will be quite a bit different between the two, but I'm used to lots of fighting, coming from a pvp only server. Hehe, it'd be nice to find a guild so I could be a little more sure about open beta, but I like to know specifics before I chose my race/class, such as who's going to be the most outnumbered group and what kind of classes will be allowed to certain races. Well, anyway I'm not really one to care about the comparisons, the characters looks are pretty much taken from the table top games, thus far. So I don't really see the validity of the comparison, as Warhammer has been around alot longer.

first of all, Blizzard have many times been accused for stealing ideas from warhammer, like Orcs, and much lore(even warhammer 40K = starcraft).
while WAR actual took many ideas from LotR(tolkien).
there is no reason why to compare these two games!
Warhammer Online is being expected to bring "new" ideas to the PvP, such as cool PvP quests, while WoW have been cooking on the same soup for about a year now. WoW is also very PvE specialised game(that gets boring, eventually).
the only reason i can find in my little brain is: WoW has orcs, WAR has orcs, and so on.
some of the races are the same, but so what?!
races is probaly one of the smallest and most irrelevance reasons to two games, being the same.
the whole concept of WAR is "the everlasting war" between every race, while WoW has the "noone is evil" concept hanging on their foreheads.
i truely love both gameworlds, but i really do not like the thought of comparing them.
if it should be anything else, it should be "WoW is like WAR".. -_-

i think another part of the comparison are the style of war's graphics in beta and WOW's graphics ... although im guessing WAR will have much better grafx than wow once its finished ...

the other reason they are both being compared ... is the popularity of the two .. WAR is expected to become the next big thing ... and people cant help themselves when comparing the last game to make it big ( WOW) with the game that will be the NEW big thing ( war)

Well WOW is PVE game with raiding for high end loot is the main point of the game. Over half of WOW's player don't PVP much at all and WARs end game is RVR. So they have 2 differenr end games and since most WOW's player base don't PVP much so really only WOW fans will try to compare the 2 when they will be totally diffferent with the end game.

Graphics may look similar but doesn't really matter much does it. Gameplay will be different and the end game will be different as I already stated. 2 different types of games of MMORPGS is pointless to compare when end game will be totally different between the 2 and people will prefer pvp end game of WAR or the high end raid for epic items of WOW.

So the only thing people can do is compare RVR endgame of WAR and the RAID for epic items as the main end game of WOW and decide which they like best. It comes down to the end game in MMORPGS that really counts in the end.

The comparison may never end, but it doesn't make it a true one or give it any meaningful comparison. WAR to WoW gameplay is as different as it gets. Expecting a Warhammer licensed game to be untrue because of the games of a company who couldn't get a license and instead ripped off all the artwork and lore is like telling people to stop using elves and dwarves in their novelles because Tolkien did it first and his works are brilliant.

(Well, it's not exactly the same. With WAR vs WoW it's the opposite. In this case other writers would tell Tolkien to not use halflings when writing LOTR because they ripped off The Hobbit)

Don't mean to come off as a hater. I loved Starcraft, RRR and The Lost Vikings. WarCraft and Diablo is not too bad either, but Blizzard takes credit for more than they've come up with themselves with ;) WoW is just a Frankenstein product of all the PvE, itemhunter, class grinder games out there and it happened to be accessible enough to bring more people to the MMO scene.

I doubt the comparsion well ever end though I think it will subside once War comes out. Too many ppl are narrowed minded and can not see the fact that WoW is a PvE centered game and that WAR is a PvP/RVR centered game.  Its stupid to try and compare two games that have different focuses.

Yeah WoW did sort of steal Warhammer's idea's, and Blizzard obviously copied W40K, but Blizz totally wrecked WoW and WAR looks amazingly different, PvP looks great! I can't wait
