$50 game played for 8 months - mighty good value there

    Gw: $49.99

    Gw factions: $59.99

    Gw monthy fee: $0.00

    Total: $109.98

    WoW: $29.99

    WoW burning crusade expansion: $39.99

    WoW $15 monthly fee x8: $120.00

    Total cost: $189.98

Knowing you invested your money in the right game: Priceless

You seem like an avid GW fan or should I say FANBOY! Just a note: You don't have to play factions

Another note: Cheaper doesn't mean better.

You don't have to play factions but I added it in there to make the point that even with gwf it is still cheaper than WoW. Why didn't you make the point that you don't have to play burning crusade either? Cheaper may not always mean better, however if it's better (which gw is) AND cheaper (which gw also is) then it's all around just better... And as to the fanboy comment, thanks, I like others to know where my loyalty stays.

*sigh* just do me a favor and stop telling people GW is better, alright? Its not true and it will only lead to flamewars.

Well, I geuss its opinnion based. if you enjoy PvP, then you will like Guild Wars for a long time. if your more of a PvE player, then you won't enjoy this game much longer then when you would play a normal single player game. If its worth the money? well if you want a big game, a game which is more based on community, and an an open world, then your better off playing a real mmorpg. if your just looking for a few weeks/month of fun or if you will enjoy arena (but pretty pointless) based pvp, then  Guild Wars and GW:F are well worth your money.

Exactly!  With the new AvA battles that happen now, and that Alliances can control cities makes it so much more involving during and after game.  I was never much for PvP, but now knowing that a Luxon can take over and control a Kurzick city and it shifts the games borders makes it so much cooler.  Or your alliance can control a city like House zu Heltzer or Cavalon and you can do advanced elite missions.

There is so much more than meets the eye with Factions, just have to look a little harder.

I've been playing it since day 1, and still not tired of it.  I do take breaks every now and then, but I always comes back to it.

Oh it's very easy to get tired of it. The PvP is fun but the PvE can get annoying at some times. Wich can ruin the game...like it did for me.

Hey at least it was 8 months of fun right?? hahaha well i mean im sorry to hear that but im still going strong, just over a year now and i still love it, maybe because i play alot of pvp and im in a top 100 guild maybe thats why its more fun. Maybe if u started it out again try joining a good guild? but then again there are ppl in the GW community that dont relaly give ne one a chance, for example hero's ascent arena is full with rude and mean ppl who make guild wars look relaly bad, maybe thats why ur not having fun. but if ur a high rank and very good at the game i dont see how this game can get ne boring. newyas my post prob sound stupid but im posting outof my balls right now.. hehe

Everything on these boards is on flame after another. In any event Guild Wars is starting to get old to me I'm getting bored. I LOVE Guild Wars and it's certainly worth playing for a good year or hey 8 months in that guys case. At first I thought A chapter ever 6 months was a lot but now I think it's really needed. I'm already waiting for the next one.. don't know if I can hold on that long or might convert to a different game. Guild Wars is by far my favorite though. I just wish there was slight more variation.. in say rewards for quests.. stuff like that. Quest to get unique weapons or like a unique armor set or a mini pet would be nice.

So overall I see both sides. I love it, but I've played it to death so yeah it does get a little boring faster than most I would say. HOWEVER this is a game that you can pick up and play for 15min and actually get somewhere... unlike most others so they go hand and hand.

Maybe you should go to the GW website and read about the game.  Read what they say about PvP and PvE.  Again, I will repeat what I said earlier.  It's called Guild Wars.  It was designed to be primarily about PvP.  The PvE is only there to help unlock skills for strictly PvP, and for those that want to go out and capture elite skills.  It states all of this on their website.  If you are buying this game for sctrictly PvE you will probably end up disappointed.

Read the website of a game before buying and playing then complaining.  It was never designed to be primarily PvE.  It was built around PvP, GvG, and now AvA.  That's why there's a level 20 cap as well.  That way everyone is quickly on the same playing field to start doing what?  PvP, GvG, AvA.

That's all there is to it.  That's why a little research is always good before buying a game.

beleive it or not i havent even started guild wars yet. but i know a bargain when i see one WOW to GW well i know 5 people who wow but then again i know 30 people who love GW and 1 person who like Runescape (he sucks) anyway i was also just taking a look at prices and you know what i saw in most game stores here GW is sold for 110 when you buy fGW factions and normal GW then again all the things you require for WOW is 213$ added the monthley fee and WOW is like dude i hit lvl 60 now i completed the story line and now ill go scape out every dungeon then ill just keep scaping out dungeon after dungeon then ill do it all again!!!!! woot for WOW (NOT). then on GW its like hooray i hit lvl 20 now what can i do i know ill go PVP and i can still PVE + loads of quest and when holidays come along PARTY TIME!!!!!! + cool dancing. so there you have it thats what i think about both the games and runescape is like  im high on low grade graphics but i can still play the game for fun(which i do lol)

Hmm... just from that I can tell you haven't played many games in your time... So basically welcome to the world of MMO's and games in general, if you can find me a game that keeps the 'zing' it has from the very start please tell me, because honestly all games 'get on your nerver' and make you feel like 'you will not like it anymore,' also if it took you 8 months to get over it thats actually a rather good sign.

ALL games can get boring and if played enough and long enough simply WILL.

So I guess it boils down to are you a casual that cannot for whatever reasons cannot dedicate your life to much more then chillin and enjoying a rare evening with a game?

    or....

Are you one of those Sandra Dee's that have to say look at me when all you did all night was talk to a bunch of dudes you never met before (for the most part) on a weekend night as an adult when you should be hanging out with other adults face to face?

Guild Wars is for casuals/PvPers no monthly fee is a plus.

World of Warcraft is for those casuals who never play it that wants to goto 60 and quit. Otherwise World of Warcraft is another EverQuest clone post 60 that you MUST pay for monthly to play.

Sorry but for me I wanna play cause I want to not because I am paying for a game to sit on my PC and get hardly used due to me having a life.

That about sums it all up.

One could say a similar thing to you and all your griping about the game.  If you don't like it, don't play it.  Don't waste peoples time that like the game.  Move on already.  Trolling around making useless comments doesn't accomplish anything except get people annoyed.  Which I guess is the point of the constant complaining.  Go to the Wow or EQ forum and start an "I hate GW" thread there.  I'm sure you'd get along with that just right.... somewhere closer to your level maybe.

And in the case of GW cheaper does mean better.  EQ, Wow, and all the others are all retreads of the same basic concept.  Not all of us enjoy paying $15 a month to grind over and over and over.  If that is the kind of entertainment you like great.  Go hang out there and stop wasting our time.

GW wears out after a while because it sucks.  It's for kids with sweaky voices that can't have a Credit Card yet.

You'll actually find that kids in GW quit because it is too challenging, they then buy a gamecard for WoW because its easier... or easiest... the new age MMO community cycle.

PS: Don't flame a game you haven't played.

If you are going to post, post something we can actually reply to. This is a completely useless post as it is simply your opinion backed by absolutely no information. And if you would like to take a look at another topic in this forum check out the "average age of palyers in gw?" topic, average age is around 16-23 according to that poll. You ever heard of a 23 year old with a "sweaky" (squeaky  maybe?) voice? Probably not and don't even give me any bs answer about the fact you have, that was simply an immature post and obviously you are one of the annoying little kids in the game that gives up because not only can't they figure out how to make a build with only of 8 skills, but they probably never even tried to get past searing. The fact that you don't need a credit card for this game is a convenience, and I would rather be able to play a game according to my schedule rather than feeling obligated to play because I bought the game and I'm still paying each month after.  Don't just say a game sucks, I have serious doubts you have ever played this game for over a half an hour if that, and probably on a nub friends account. Go back to button mashing kid!

It's amazing how the net gives people the courage to be so cool, powerful and able to do this kind of stuff.... This is obviously one uber 1337 d00d.  He wil rox0r us and we will be pwned.

I'd be willing to bet you'll see this same person (and those like them) posting "This game rox0rs" in the EQ and/or WoW forums.

But I do have to say he sure taught us.... we should all up and quit now that we are so enlightened that this game sucks.

I would have to agree. It just doesn't have te lifespan of what EverQuest (2) of WOW have.

The map is far to small allthough one of the most well detailed ones I have ever seen. It gradually repeats itself causing itself to have a short life.

Him and tall those like him that troll around making useless remarks.  You make to many good well-defended points to be like that.  Apologies for the ambiguity of  the comment.  Didn't realize that until I read your comments and re-read what I wrote.

What the heck you talking about?  Should I make a comment about your nickname and that would make me sound as cool as you do?  What does a nickname mean about someone other than a way to be known to others?  It's a name that was given to me many years ago by friends and just end up sticking around.

Calling troll remarks as toll remarks isn't calling the kettle black.  It's called the truth.  And from experience if you find these kind of posts often you will find them posting something similar to what I said in my previous post.  I don't go around posting comments like that... maybe if you did a bit of research before unleashing your amazing wit on me and everyone else here you wouldn't look the fool.  And if you had done the research (which obviously hasn't been done) you'd see that I post somewhat regularly here.  And if you go back far enough you'll see I was even posting here around the time this game was in beta.  So before you make yourself look even more foolish, do a little legwork first.  You would think that someone with 353 posts would be a bit smarter, unless they are all as brilliant as this remark.  And feel free to peruse all the comments I've ever made.  I dare you to find one that is in another forum saying "this game sux0rs" or some other stupid comment (even something similar to your own).  If you can find one, I'll give you a cookie for it.  I haven't really ever even gone into WoW, EQ or EQ2 forums more than a couple of times over the last few years.

After this enlightening post by Realmreaver, I will have to reiterate my previous post.  Man, it's been proven at least twice in the last couple of days.

I think this game is worth the money. 40-50 for 8 months of play is pretty good. And if you get bored sometime you can always go back.

  • rockin_uforockin_ufo Member UncommonPosts: 378
I dont no how it got on ur nevrse but eve1 gets bored of a game but that doesnt mean u gotta hate it. If u say there is no dept thats wrong there is more to do in PvE then most ppl think an 1 more thign did u join a guild?

Whenever i step outside, somebody claims to see the light
It seems to me that all of us have lost our patience.
    'cause everyone thinks they're right,
And nobody thinks that there just might

    Eeeeeeeh? You point is...?

Name one game that won't bore you after a certain period of time. 8 months is definitly a good game.
