I think the Restuss even is the final nail in the coffin for SWG. Honestly, even the hardest of hardcore fanbois will give up once they realize how pathetic the Restuss event is.

They stopped mentioning GCW bases being fixed.
target audience goes back to school in 2 months
Several big-name MMO's slated for release within the next few months to include Vanguard, LOTR, Pirates, Conan, expansion for WoW.
The folks who bought prepaid cards for 1 yr are starting to expire between now and Nov
I predict one last holiday greed grab for cash with that new game pack and SOE announces Jan 31st its shutting down by summer 07

My prediction is this.
You will post how much you hate SoE/SWG and how it will fail in the following months again shortly just like you have been for what, the past year? Guess you've not been right but give the man an award for his single handed take down of SoE, even if it's not happened.
You guys talk about how the SWG game is set for the "younger" audience now yet you act like a 5 year old screaming when his toy is taken away because he didn't eat his peas. Seems to me you'd fit right in if the game was meant for the immature folks. Even a 5 year old will stop crying eventually, I just wish you would.

Interesting another close down date for SWG, that must make a few thousand dates given for when SWG will be closed down. Since everyone is wrong all the time, why not “SWG to close down someday in the future” say something to that effect, then at least eventually you will be correct. The game is targeted for a younger audience. Do you take offense in that? The game development has failed in many ways. Some like it easy while others, with intelligence, like challenges and content in a game. SWG-NGE severely lacks in both. I tried the NGE in the beginning and it was like playing Candy Land. At first you like all the candy and treats and after a few games you realize how repetitive, boring and lacking the game is. But if you're a younger player, you might like all of the "candy". Mature players like content, like Clue or Monopoly. Does this anology help you to better understand his point?

Pre-NGE was anything but challenging. Maybe it was challenging for a retard, but not for me. The NGE was more challenging just because I didn't have all the time in the world to pick what skill I would use next like Pre-NGE.
I like Pre-NGE better, but calling it challenging is just rediculous. The person is right also. All the people flaming SOE and the current subscribers are the ones who sound like the kiddie player base, not the ones that are playing it now. I have yet to see immaturity from the subscribers on this forum like I have seen from the vets. If your calling the complaining and flaming vets mature, then I am very immature and should go play the NGE as well.

I do not understand how a Sig would determine the player base of a game, especially based on the Sig you presently have. I would not assume what sort of player base you come from based on your Sig. In relation to your Post about me being in denial, I am not sure what it is I am suppose to be in denial of, if you could please clarify what that maybe I would really appreciate it. As far as me being a Fanbio, I must admit that I am unaware of what this signifies, if you could please clarify for me what this Fanbio term stands for then I will be able to categorize what sort adult who cries about a game everyday, seems to be unable to get a grip on reality, and acts like there whole life and the whole world has changed due to the changes in a silly video game is, from that I will be able to formulate a term that would be appropriate for such a person. And to clarify we are pissed because we paid for and played a game for 2+ years to have it yanked out from under us, redone for the kids, and we got pushed to the side...
So yeah we have a right to be pissed. The sooner you guys understand this the easier it would be to understand why we are pissed.

I don't know if the death blow has been delivered yet but the beast sure is staggering. The more they push for the NGE the faster the game withers.

I think they will keep it limping along until SWG2 comes out in a couple years (2008-ish) but the NGE has it's plug pulled by the end of the year.
I think they will cease any real development of the NGE, throw in some classic servers by fall/winter, and do gimmick live events as cheap content. The classic servers will allow them to at least end the year with as many (or more) subs than they started the year with (which they will trumpet to save face). The predictable happens, the population moves to the classic servers and they start shutting down NGE servers early in 2007. The whole thing becomes a rollback without the rollback.
As pathetic a game as the SWG NGE version is, it IS filler for the Station Access Pass and will limp along for quite some time. There is no question that the NGE is a watered down, over-simplified game compared to what it used to be. Those that feel 'challenged' by the game....well good for you. There is no doubt that there will be a serious population hit when some of these new MMORPGs are released and September rolls around, but then again, it may not be that noticible in SWG with the shrunken playerbase it currently has (ghost servers).
Their first act of desperation was announced last night, that they are bringing back auto aim and autofire (ie: combat will become more or less like it was during the CU, but still faster).
I guess they think that plus skill trees within professions will satisfy the masses and turn things around, but they won't, the more they give us pale imitations of what once was the LOUDER the cries for rollback gets.
Plus there is the spectre of the Pre-CU emulator, which should be running with a decent number of things working well before the end of 2006 which will start to siphon off the diehards that are left, leaving them with the vocal minority, those who prefer NGE over the previous game. I estimate that to be about 20% of the player base at most, which leaves them with somewhere between 10 and 20K subs within 6 months.
What I believe they WILL do, however, once the Restuss event fails, once the new combat system fails to please, and once skill trees fail to satisfy the base is intro classic servers before the emulator gets going full steam.
At this point that is their SOLE option to bring sub numbers back up to profitable levels. No doubt there are subscription targets in their contract, and LEC could yank the license at any time at the level they are at now. They have to do something and soon, and classic servers are the only quick move available to them.
it's that or pull the plug before the end of the year.
Either way, I don't care at this point. Thanks to the emulator's existance, the pressure is now on SOE. I know that I am eventually going to get what I want whether SOE gives it to me or not.

As far as (I talk about SWG being for the younger crowd??) Um, you do know what was said and what the goal of the NGE was right? I have to ask because for some reason I think you missunderstand what it was meant for. I do not want to quote a bunch of red names today...
Now then understand a few things, past year = 12 months so WRONG... I did not rant whatsoever in this respect anywhere near a 12 year mark??? Only since Dec. 16th -- so please be clear.. I was a avid and loyal player until then (So that is not a year, close to 7 months is more accurate) Next, I HAVE NO SHAME in saying I am upset and ticked off they took the game away that myself and thousands of others built up over the previous almost 3 years for us beta players... So yes, I am mad they took it away --, sue me and get in line.
Now then as far as "FAILING" well, I think that term is used in a very vauge way at this time. We all know the NGE was not a success, (Any moron can figure that out) Now then, the said "6 month" mark of progress.. well being that they still have not fixed most of the quests and just as many things are broke if not more not to mention the popualtion is hosed... and more people have left more then ever, also adding in that the GAME IS FREE -- yes FREE and still not drawing in some MAGIC crowd yet still, not to mention the great reviews of the game, press , news reports, investment comments ,not to mention all of the gaming sites, forums that have more or less made the game a mockery of MMOs I think it is safe to say THAT THEY DO NOT NEED ME TO PROVE IT is a failure... so while you may think you know somthing new or crafty to reply with, more or less you said nothing different then I have heard before-- your just mad your still paying for the game that others have realized is a joke.
Don't be mad, get glad and open your eyes.. you may learn somthing.

Ahh because sometimes, just sometimes it is good for a consumer to actually state facts and stand up for somthing he feels is wrong (Great concept for our country at least) .. not to mention if the "said" product was ripped from or made into somthing unknown or fortold about....
Not much different then myself paying for a car and making payments on it to the bank, no different then the bank coming in and turning my BMW into a 1978 beetle...
