why is this game good?
hmmm..
because of the good frame rate I get on my system?
Because of the very nice graphics?
because of the fast, fun and varied fighting?
Pehaps you were playing a different game than me?

I get great fps on this game aswell. At times it goes choppy when im around tons of people, but that happens on all mmorpgs and is to be expected.
Seeing as how the game is over 3 years old, the graphics are really good. I guess you didnt see the shadowlands. I dont see how you can say the graphics are shitty, unless you compare them to like, Asheron's Call 2 or something.
The fighting is ok. Depends what class you are really. I find lvling my Enforcer really boring, since hes all HP and dosnt do as much damage as my Martial artist, and his attacks are slow and basic looking. At higher lvls things get alot more interesting, when you start having to use special attacks, and can use perk abilites and such. But i dont see how much it sucks compared to any other mmorpg, since they basicly all are point and click, and your char auto attacks.
I play it for the reasons above and many more. I like the style of the game, its not your typical midevel rpg with swords axes and bows. I love the skill system, how you have your basic atributes, wich affect your skills. The "trickle down" effect is great. It allows you to make any char any way you want, no preset path for your char like 90% of the other mmorpgs have. where your a certain class and race, and everyone thats like you, take the same path, uses the same items, armors, and weapons, and often, looks exactly the same as you.
I also love the mass ammounts item items, weapons, and armors you can get in teh game. There is always soemthing new to find. There are TONS or rare items aswell. I also like how there is always soemthing to do, you can hunt, you can go to dungeons and get rares, you can do missions, or team missions and get certain things you want, and tolkens. I also like how the stores are, when your weapons getting a bit old you cant just go buy "the next best one" or as is common in other mmorpgs, the next one down the list that the merchant has, you accualy gotta shop around, and sometimes pick things up you see ahead of time, or get some type of dropped item to use. I also like that you can twink your char, by over equiping things too. Its just an all round fun game to me.
My strongest move is called the Hiten Misturugi Ryu technique. No move is faster or stronger than it. (Hitokiri Battousai)

There are only 10 types of people in this world.
Those that understand binary and those that don't.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

you must of had your settings really really low...
or you were playing the wrong game
FunCom made a really large world with spare areas. A lot of players might think that's all there is to it...after all, many of the really non-Shadowlands areas that are extremely interesting to look at are out beyond mobs that will eat your newbie butt for lunch.
Trust me, if you travel to some of the more remote locations in Rubi-Ka you'll see sights you will never see in another MMOG. Shadowlands, however, is like that every inch of the way...beautiful landscapes everywhere.
I didn't like the game due to it's repetitiveness. The missions all seemed the same after awhile and I had a hard time with constantly upgrading the gear for my fixer. The pet pathing is what really drove me from the game though. I couldn't take always dying as an engineer because my stupid robot had to go and get stuck in the center of a table. Anyone know if they fixed that yet? TTyL TTFN!

I tried it for 2 days now, pretty good if u ask me. The graphics are eye pleasant, gameplay pretty normal. Although those stats perks skills etc are confusing, its still enjoyable. Currently lvl 15 at Rubi-Ka2, gonna lvl more to try our wat it feels like to be high lvl. Yea the version im playing is with Shadowlands. I'm 1 of the AO games winner of the mmorpg.com contest.
Keep something in mind when playing AO that's a touch different from your normal RPG.
Level means very little. QL (or Quality Level) means everything. The guy standing next to you may be the same level as you, but he may be wielding weapons and armor that are 3x more powerful than the gear you loaded up. A normal level 10 with no bonuses will wield a QL10 gun (roughly), but an experienced player will probably have a QL25 gun or better.
The trick to playing AO as it was intended is to jack up your stats with implants, buffs, and gear in order to use better and better stuff. The Trader class is the epitome of that, constantly stealing skills from their victims to ladder up into higher and higher gear.
This is the key to being your best in AO. It's what drives the level treadmill, really...because with one more level you can get to the 80% OE breakpoint and wield that next Rifle upgrade that is way above your normal skill use. It's one of the more addictive parts of AO's gameplay.
Try joining a Guild. It is a MMORPG after all. Joining a Guild increases your experiences.
If after trying out a few guilds you still find the game boring, well... at least you gave it a try and found it's not for you. Better than not giving it a try and not knowing if you are, or are not, missing something you might like.
Aye, i think the main problem people have with AO is that its pretty rough of "newbs". It takes quite a while to learn how everything works and people often become frustrated with it because they expect to know everything about the game within 2-3 days of playing it. Which is really just setting yourself up for a fall. Since there is such a huge learning curve when playing AO compared to most other mmorpg's its an absolute MUST that you find yourself a guild. Preferably one that has members willing to answer any questions you have about the implant system, perks and buffing and all that. When i first started playing about a year ago 95% of the people i asked for help were willing to sit back for 5-10 minutes to answer any of my questions. Asking for help isn't hard to do. Just try to be polite when asking, demanding information isn't cool. . It also helps to return the favor to anyone else inquiring about how certain things work.
In conclusion if your new be willing to listen to others when they are trying to help you and try to be patient. As your not going to figure everything out right away.
Last year, right before summer, i got my appendix out. Now after a few days i could barely walk, but indeed make it to my computer chair. I was currently playing EQ but thought ide probe around for a different game. Bang- Found Anarchy Online. Looked crazy being all futuristic and stuff! So i downloaded it, entered my credit card, and didnt stop playing for 3 months.
Anarchy Online was the best MMORPG i ever played. The only problem is that after playing and getting so far i could never go back and make up for what i lost by cancelling my account =( That game kicked so much ass!
About being hard on 'newb's. NO way man. I understood it within the first 2 hours. I was killing through the junk yard and doing little missions. Then i was accepted into a guild and things took off from there. I seriously reccomend that game!
I was a lvl 50 Fixer with MK Grid I Armor - THATS some cool stuff =D God i loved that game.
