It looks like no one has mentioned that Rusty has said they will finally announce what month the game is going to ship at this year's PAX. Are they ever going to announce a ship date?
That's the Penny Arcade Expo, by the way, which is going to be August 25 - 27.

lol 26 august? Well pax is still more than a month away and we have to wait for that just to know that the game is shiping in 3-4 months
Well, I don't get why publisher and devs always have to wait for the end of the year. All good MMOs coming out this year are planned for autumn or winter. I personally don't give a "%Q"% about the summer I just want to play
I dissagree I also have been waiting for this game to come out for some time but frankly games take some time to devolpe proberly and also I feel that after seeing what rushing a game and poor deveolpment can do to a game(via starwars galaxies, thanks for ruining it SOE)it is in the games best interest to make sure the game is up to par and as bugless as possible before relessing it out into the open for the public to view.
Sure hope they get it done soon, have been waiting forever it seems. Disney is coming out with Pirates of Carribbean game and that's going to take away some of their base if they don't beat it to market!
I've been skulking around this game for longer than I care to admit but I have to say that I'm starting to lose faith. Is there anything at all suggesting that it is actually going to happen?
Other than the fact that Rusty will be giving out the release date at Pax in August? No. Other than the fact that they will put out the release date next month, I can't think of a single thing indicating that they are getting close to release.
I have to disagree with PotC being competition for PotBS. They are both about pirates, sure. But PotC is going the supernatural route with voodoo spells and the undead. From what I know about PotBS, the game is going to be about realism. The undead, no magic, and life-like ships. The kind of people that would rather play with spells and skeletons would never have played PotBS in the first place because it's too different, so if they go elsewhere, it's not hurting PotBS fanbase.

With all the hype from Pirates of the Carribean movie, this game could have really thrived on the surge in pirate interest by actually being available by now for game play. I wanted to play this game when it was first going to come out, but now it has just been too long.
I think you are correct. But if it does get released there will be some following just because it's something different. You can still sell a good game with mediocre graphics, but a bad game won't sell well no matter how good the graphics are. (especially if it's just another of the 50 billion fantasy types out there)
The game already has a very loyal following on the forums, enough to provide the game with a solid base community, from then on it's a matter of proper advertisement and word of mouth, origionaly this was planned to be a niche game for those that wanted a real sailing experience, now the reigns of fun have taken more of a hold and the game is 10x more than what was origionally planned...I expect the game to be out before 2007.

Originally posted by Bafucin I also think this one will fail. If they don't give us the freedom to be a real Pirate ingame. The day we get a GTA MMO! The day we get blood and not stars in a MMO! The day we can kill civilians in a MMO! The day we can burn a old lady and rape her dog! ...no wait! The day we can have sex in a MMO! The day we can use drugs in a MMO! The day we can smoke in a MMO! The day we can get drunk in a MMO! FREEEEEEDOM!!11!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!! ^^
Try 'Real Life MMO'. It's a life-long in development MMO that includes perma-death,a fully engaging PvE campaign of earning currency, and a well thought-out legal system for mass PK'ers to be punished by.
The only problem is that there's only one server and so people speak all different languages, which can be confusing when travelling. Travelling can also take a while, but all the graphics are realistic.
I think it's already on release however in shops, mothers and bedrooms in your local area.
You guys have mixed opinions, go ask somebody who played the game how it is going, and one more thing I cant understand is why cant the developers open it up to everybody and find out the flaws that way because from what I have seen is that it looks really good, graphically and contenty, but try asking how long till its realeased on their forums( i cant because of soem weird thing that I dont get, I dont even know what the problem is)

Flying Lab Software will be hosting an exclusive party to celebrate their Pirates of the Burning Sea MMORPG during PAX, the Penny Arcade Expo, on Friday, August 25th in Bellevue, Washington. Attendees will be able to play the game, have some grog, participate in a pirate costume contest, and enjoy other piratical activities.
During the party, Flying Lab will also announce the release date for Pirates of the Burning Sea and demonstrate the latest features. Invitations to this exclusive event will be distributed through online contests and on the PAX show floor at the Flying Lab booth the day of the party.
Our contests offer something for everyone, giving our fans the chance to see themselves transformed into an actual in-game personality, write a short story for inclusion in one of a thousand missions, or find their artistic masterpiece adorning the walls of the many cities, towns, and villages of the Pirates of the Burning Sea game world!
Boy its hard to wait of course today is a terrible day to lead up to the release date because I had to take all of my registration stuff for school to school today, I walked for 2.5 miles just to turn in some paper work and see one person I knew. Then I have go to a thing for band and be, I shudder at the word... social.

I am starting to believe the OP now. No game is ever 100% bug or problem free so saying let them take their time and get it right is not a very good argument as to why the huge delay. Obviously something (money?) is very wrong over there.
