There are four or five of them that troll the boards just waiting to dive in and link some review or defend the slightest slight of hand. It's got to be one of the most amuzing boards I have ever read-
I will never play the game just because the forums are overun by propaganda mongers. I wana read the good and bad opinions about a game- get a good view of it- not 4 or 5 wack jobs crashing every thread with : the game has subtle depth that unless you have a two year assosiates degree will never fully comprehend LOL.
Are these guys acually on the payroll of DnL? They post on these boards also and its absolutly for the sole purpose of damage control.

Interestingly, after the last patch no one, and I mean no one is defending DnL on their English speaking forum.
In fact several of the die hard fans are very upset and talking about leaving.
Blacksac you are needed over there - this could be the end of the end! also no sign of mods, do you think AD get paid monthly?
There is no possible way you enjoy DnL. Hence, you aren't a fan. You're a member of the cult.

There are always fanboys for any game no matter what state is it in.
So DnL is no different.
Some people have followed the game for years and been part of the community so long its too much to take in that in a month or so everything has collapsed on itself.
I am currently trying another mmorpg and you will see similar fanboys paint an amazing picture of how great the game gets and you need to hang in there despite i can see the game has the word wreck printed all over it.
Vanguard is in beta now huh? Horror stories? Guess I best go check out the Vanguard forums.

Strangely enough I didn't originally find it in the Vanguard forums, but the SWG one. They take any opportunity to give a boot to SOE.

Oh boy.... will there be a good MMORPG in the not so far future, or are we doomed with a long string of fiascoes?
Please don't make one sweeping statement and put the Roma Victor devs in the same category as the DnL devs. While RV still has a ways to go before I would consider playing it, it has a talented, communicative dev team. There is just a one time, very reasonable, fee ($28 US) to play forever with no monthly fee. A dedicated fan base are playing and providing feedback. And amazingly enough, it IS improving--unlike some games I could mention. Check out the RV forums and compare them to the DnL forums.
Anyway, to have a string of fiascos requires more than one fiasco (aka DnL).

Well, although I do not have an associates degree in history I am not too interested in playing a historical game. I am sure you are right though. I could not ever imagine a game release being as bad as dnl. There is nowhere to go but up for other games. (I do remember saying that about dnl after the sh1t storm of the nge tho...). Wellas you say it is a game based on history so maybe they will learn from it.

His words not mine.I simply stated it also has its fair share of fanboys who try to paint a pretty picture.
I personally will not put the RB team in same grounds with DnL team.They are willing to talk to their fans .
Maybe they are talened i would not know or maybe they have a very small budget but fact is their engine is not very good.
as for fees well good news is yes $28.But if you think you will exist in this game on less then $15 a month you are in for a big shock!To escape not having to pay money to buy ingame cash you must be a real harcore player and when i mean real hardcore i mean the extreme.
The starting $10 worth of money you get at start goes almost immediately just to get out of the starter quests which are compulsory.Or you can save that money and instead of taking 1 day to get out of the attending you take 3 days.See a pattern here?As you go higher you find a single item you need for hunting costing $5-10 worth of game money.
The game itself has plenty of issues and i mean plenty.Some of them you can find listed on the RV forum here and much more on the particpant forum.
Positives are the community are nice and friendly.Also the developers tend to listen but been able to listen and been able to do a thing about it ,is 2 different matters.
Is it improving?Well again good question.I was in beta briefly but stopped playing because of serious memory leaks and that was 4 months ago.Coming into live version it looks exactly the same and the memory leak has turned into a flood.
However,i do not wish to turn this into a RV debate .Just so happened since i had a few ppl ask me which game was i referring to when i mentioned "fanboys always paint a good picture no matter what" and yes RV falls into that scope,maybe not as a bad as DnL i would not know.I did not buy DnL because some ppl i trust their opinon on this site told be it was very bad and i trust them.
Potential it has but again i played mmorpg since 1999 and seen many many games with potentials and have come to conclusion potential alone is not enough.I was a big follower of DnL and it too had great potentials as did AC2,MxO,D&D the list goes on and on.

Age of Conan,Heroes Journey,Warhammer,Star trek Online,Lord of the rings online.
Hopefully 1 of them will deliver what we miss.
Man i'm so in need of a new MMORPG that appeals to me.

Aye, been looking and waiting. The new one by NCSoft, Aion, looks promising but we are looking at at least another year for that one. It was shown at the E3 but not much more about it. You can go to the NCSoft site and its not listed but there is a little mention of it. Sign up and you will get the updates about it tho. I see they have it here now on the boards so thats a good thing. It won many accolades/good comments for its graphics.
I spoke with a very close friend who has been and still is in the Vanguard beta. I tried to get some info out of him and basically what it boiled down to is the rumors and hatemongers are exaggerating. The game is going along and the devs are trying to work things out.(damn NDA LOL) Its a big game and many are still anticipating it. So I will keep that one on my list.
SOC is looking interesting. The graphics are a new style and I like that. Much of the game mechanics look good, if not mold breaking, at least a possibility. I am waiting for Tabula Rose also.
These companies need to hire the shills and fanbois and cousins and brothers and sisters and moms and dads and the boy scout troop that is all about DNL - push that hype meter to orbit for them. LOL
I'll probably get it to if nothing else to help what seems like pretty decent guys build their game, I can swing $20 for that (since if I made a game and had no money I would be more then happy to get any help).
But the thing they have to do first is kill that attending crap. No sandbox game should start with some 3 day epic quest of busy work that can't be avoided. Tutorial yes, but not that. I played ATitD, my gathering days are done. And strangely enough, their welcome to Egypt tutorial is shorter.

Vanguard has ppl who hate its simply because its sponsored by SoE and brad is associated.So EQ haters take a bash at it.
There is very little information out on the game for anyone fanboy or troll to make a proper judgement .
