Just saw this in their forums:

"To make small hut - roundhouse small, you need ad to the project following materials:
1. 16 poles - made by woodworker from branches
2. 50 twines - made from flax
3. 8 logs - cut from trees
4. 300 branches - cut from trees
5. 200 straw - made from barley by farmer
6. 500 clay - gathered from river or clay pit
7. 500 mud - gathered from ground
8. 500 dung - bought in test from merchant, in game scooped from domestic animals.
Building devices or building almost every time require high quality materials and skills.
3 players in my guild build hut like that in 40 real life hours"
If you expect vibrant player inspired battles, looting, destruction, razing, burning, total chaos, total war, joy and fun fun fun PvP, then this build time needs to be way decreased. Less then 10% of what I just read. 40 hours for 3 players for a small hut? I don't think so.

Why are you posting this here instead of posting it in the official RV forums as a suggestion?

Here's how it was really done for those interested. And it's how we got the amounts needed for the construction.

Thanks for quoting my post from Rv forums Nerf09
Time to build hut is good, all guilds have more members than 3, with more players and npc hired labourers time is way shorter.
People playing RV like challenge, not everything easy and simple like in others mmorpg
Thats all fine and dandy, but either hydrocarbon inspired fire will have to be nerfed, or building time will have to be nerfed, or the afterlife buffed. Nobody is going to put up with 3 days work destroyed so easilly. And if were so all gungho on reality, then why is there 8 hour day instead of 24 hour days?
I played wwiionline for 3 years (8 hour days), and I know how the word "reality" can be misconstrued to actually mean bad game design. When the reality of artillery struck Cornered Rat Software's reality of video game fixed spawn points, they didn't impliment artillery in the game less players just kept bombarding spawn points from 2 miles away. Allot of us with half a brain tried to tell CRS that the problem not lie in the reality of artilery, but fixed spawn points itself. Spawning isn't a reality.
Anyway, I forsee a system like SWG,a bunch of indestructable buildings here and there, because they take insane amounts of effort to create.
Hiring NPC employees and/or slaves to build things and take care of business?
Guilds are video game constructs and have nothing to do with reality. A realistic game won't require a rediculous player run guild on teamspeak to build one lousy mud hut in 3 days.
In reality Guilds were collection of "INDIVIDUALS" looking out for their own self interests trying to drive out competition from their areas of business. They were monopolies. Like tailor guilds, if you aren't part of a tailor guild and you tried to sell clothes then the tailoring guild in real life would rob you, burn your house down, or try to get the sherrif to run you out of town for a price.

And these Guilds you talk of do not exist. Players come together to form Houses. a House is a mercantile unit which is like a corporation if you will, that not only makes one thing.
In game one of the jobs your master sends you on is to build a workbench. By yourself it would take about 2 hours. With my house we finished it in about 45 min.
Well many ways of looking at things.
First and foremost its a video game plain and simple.Because it took the channel tunnel like what 20yrs or whaever to build does not mean in a game we should have to spent 20 yrs of our lives doing things.
A complex crafting is judged by its content not the time it takes to build anything.
Just to build a firewood pile i was on it for 30 mins running thru lag and such to gather and drop on the pile. This is even something you can't escape from as you are forced to do this to progress out ofattending.
In end i just logged off totally bored.Yes,i have spent time in front of a forge/crafting station in many games.
But in SWG for instance as a weaponsmith i would stand in front of that crafting station just experiementing for 1 hour making many version of a same weapon but it was good fun as i tried to get that "perfect reult" then i would save the schematics and it was beautiful and fulfilling as now i could mass product that weapon for all my clients while offline.
In UO and EQ2 i would make a lovely weapon in a few minutes. Are all this realistic?Hell no!
But i would go nuts if i had to now stand in front of the forge.Wait 10 minutes for the iron to smelt.Hammer it for another 20 mins.Careful sew on the hilt for another 1 hr and then get a sword in 2 hrs.Yes its realistic time but heck its totally boring.
Also some of us are not into RV for the crafting.I certainly will not be despite been a avid crafter since i have no desire to wait for other ppl to help me build a mud hut for 1 hr.Yet we are forced to deal with hours of boring and no fun jobs for our master and its 3 of me playing this game yet i keep logging off in boredom over that firewood pile!

Its actually worse.
I posted on other topic. Here is what happens. The master demands you make a stack of firewood pile which involves gathering skills and such. You go pick one pile dump it and run do it again. The entire process takes like 2hr+ and is so boring i cannot bear more then 30 mins. And even if i could the memory leak is severe in the game so you will reboot anyhow in under 30 mins. And if you are logged unfinished projects start to collapse and fast!
Now if you wanna build a hut omg get ppl to help and prepare for many hours of building.
But it struck me ?If i decide to get a second job on a construction site i will
1)take about the same time to build a small structure
2)get paid!
3)might even be more fun.
If we can hire empoyees, or empoy slaves to do the work (seamlessly), then it would be good. If not, then it would be bad.
Oh look the realism-fanboy-flamer who doesn't even know what reality is, straight from WWIIONLINE, after destroying one game you moved to another to destroy.
You could be an independent operator, but your not gonna be building anything big, unless you hire npc labours. You could run your own house which has a age requirment but thats a diffrent story. And remember there is no 1337 equipment, and cold steel will bring you down like anyother man.

Agreed.1/3 is way too slow still.Seriously you got to try it to believe.I read that it takes that long to construct things but until i finally saw it with my 2 eyes i could not even believe that the devs actually think this is fun.
As it is the game has loads going against it.Very old graphics, horrible interface, demanding manueovres just to even talk to an npc, poor maunal, incredible memory leaks, clunky movement.Which i can attribute to a low budget.
But here is something that has zero to do with the budget.
I am yet to even try combat but talking to someone who has its at best very basic.
"Hey i am Joe.In real life i work on a contruction site and would like to recommend roma victor to all those who never done a hard day's job.Its a close simulation of that.Hours of mindnumbing labour to build something.Amazing fun!"
Even flight simulators which try keep things real will not put you in a plane and say tak off at sidney and land at london.Time is usually 12 hrs tell you what just fly the plane for 4hrs.And even then its more fun because there is weather conditions, acsent, course corrections. Here its lumber a piece of wood then drop it in a pile then repeat 200 times.
I concur. Bots will be ok if its built into the game and you can program the "slaves" to do your bidding so you can go about the business of having fun.

Never posted in the World War II Online Forum actually. Played that game for a total of 3 hours just found it to be boring for a FPS. Think Planetside not one positive post.
As far as this game goes I think we may be closer to being in the same boat. I just don't like your methods of expressing yourself. You got off to a good start in this thread, but instead of sticking to the issues you add in unneeded instults which tends to dilute your message and make you look less intelligent.(I did not perceive my comment to be that offensive to warrant the above response). This also has the effect of lowering interest in the various threads that you participate in because people don't want to read your crap. I remeber the people you argued with in Planetside you just could not believe that what they were saying could have been the truth about the game and how evil that one ability was (which I never died too by the way so it seemed kinda silly to assert that it was a game breaker). You need to stop perceiving every disagreement as a personal attack. Since I am trying to garner as much information about this game as I can before coming to a final purchasing decision the typical effects of your ranting will have a negative effect on the goal I am pursuing (lots of discussion about the game itself).

Yuck I like a game to be woven around historically accurate facts but I don't like game play to resemble a real job that does not sound like fun at all. Are there any plans to change this?( I like crafting but I don't like it to resemble a real job something like this may be game breaking for me on whether to buy it or not)
I wonder if they do it like this so that you need to buy more sesterces to hire npcs to do these tasks or be board out of your skull?
