There are primarily raids in SWG and there are uite a few however you need to be a good combat class to really enjoy them and as of right now the only thing that can be destroyed during a raid or assault are enemy faction bases which require specific profesions to neutralize certain terminals. Besides that nothing really much happens war wise and the battles that occur have very little consequences on the overall scheme of everything the storyline and the War. It's not like you can destory cities kill players and they don't come back. If you really want an online War get World War 2 online.

If war is what you want, join a Rebel or Imperial PA (Player Association).

You will be able to kill anyone on the opposite faction anytime, anywhere, anyplace. In any city, building, anywhere! NO place is safe. Oh yeah... they will also be able to kill you anytime, anywhere, anyplace, in any building, in any city too heheh. image

Each server has it's own forum where various PAs advertise for new members.

Pax Imperious and KOTOR are some of the most famous Imperial and Rebel PAs. If I remember right they are both on Scylla server.

The SWG official forums are the best spot to check first since every month they clean out all inactive PAs.

If you like fighting I wouldnt recommend SWG to you...not what you think.  If you log on thinking you're gonna relive the Star Wars Battle scenes, then you'll be disappointed.

Out of the 6 months I played SWG, I have to say I only saw 2 real good battles. (StarSider Server)

    Hope that helps

    1. Starsider is one of the unofficial Role-Playing servers.  In fact, it was among the first 10 SWG servers. It is a "care-bear" aka Role-Playing leaning server. Starsider was also one of the servers with the most problems during the first 4 months of release.....which led to many players abandoning it (including me) for other servers, and newer servers. There are tons of dormant characters on Starsider.

    2. Want battles? Get out of the playground and onto the mean gritty streets of the unofficial PvP servers. LOL.

    3. En1Gma never joined a Rebel or Imperial PA (Player Association) so of course he rarely to never got into any battles. He was also never on any of the unofficial PvP servers. He also has not recently played the game itself.

Players who have recently played the game are higher in the faction ranks, have the combat skills, faction perks, weapons of war, etc... and are currently far more likely to PvP aka engage in battles.

Months ago more players were lower level, lower in the faction ranks, had newbie weapons, no armor, no nice faction perks. Fewer players would engage in PvP aka battles because they weren't ready and still learning the game, and the combat system. image

Ahh, poor poor galaxies. In my honorable(thats right :P) opinion, if you want the best player killing in an mmorpg, go Dark Age of Camelot. Though its kinda dated now, it provides the funnest PvP ive seen. Or jes play Battlefield or any other FPS :)

Galaxies PvP is fun for a while, but I would base buying the game off of it. There are many quality titles out there that provide better everything than Star Wars, unfortunately.

    Have fun ladies and gents.

AO currently has the best PvP done right. (Far better than DAoC.)

SWG is second right after AO. SWG also took lots of features from AO and made them better. For example in SWG players can get their own private NPC armies. Nothing like seeing a high ranking Imperial with 4 Dark Troopers flanking him blasting some rebel players and NPCs into corpses.

SWG and AO are the only two MMOPRGs that have done PvP right. AO's PvP being slightly better than SWG's PvP.

In AO if a guild logs off, their land is still protected by NPC security systems. This is where DAoC horribly failed, and where SB failed even worse.

In SWG, if a player is online, and their guild is not online, the player still has their NPC army to protect them vs other players. Also in SWG, unlike AO, there is truer hardcore PvP due to the fact PvP players are not safe ANYWHERE. Battles happen in cities, buildings, as well as outside cities. There is no place to run. PvP in SWG is only for the big boys. The real PvP is on the unoffcial PvP servers.

xplororor, what are the unofficial pvp servers?

    Flon Gerg

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

SOE needs to hire you man damn .

Actually, I dislike SOE. Mostly because when I played EQ roughly 1 1/2years ago, I was shocked at the amount of game bugs, exploits, and outright bad programming that was still in the game and EASILY fixable. And EQ players still put up with it using the excuse "that's just the way it is." I was like what?! Let me go light some fires on the EQ2 forums hehehe. Since it was too late for me to lead a charge on the EQ forums.

But I do like what Raph Koster, and Hayden Blackman did. SWG is half owned by SOE, and so far haven't doen the same sillyness EQ's game DEVs have done. Leaving in easily fixable game bugs, bad game mechanics for years and years. I mean, ther e IS player collision, but NO monster collision? 100 monsters can stand in the exact same spot in a dungeon, but a guild of 100 players can only have 3 members in the front line?

Or my favorite, monsters able to attack players through walls, from underneath the ground? LOL.

The SWG game DEVs know me very well, I've been following SWG over 3 years before it got released, and I have many times clashed with the SWG game DEVs image But I always try to show good manners while disagreeing with them - no cussing, or name calling... just numerically listing point by point what's wrong with whatever current decision they made or are making. Sometimes I'll start mass petitions, post certain names and phone numbers, and addresses image They definatly notice me then heheh.

You might be able to find SWG for sale on E-Bay for less than $50.oo. Many players who love EQ could not get into the "futuristic" setting of SWG, or have a hard time understanding why someone with a 8 foot long sniper rifle will 95% of the time OWN some one with a sword LOL.

Or they can't understand why someone with a blaster/gun is able to still attack while running away, shooting over their shoulder...... while someone with a sword or knife cannot effectivly attack while running away. image Ranged combat rules over melee combat in SWG as it should be.

Same in Anarchy Online Ranged rules over melee...heheh - I love using 2 guns at the same time and sending a giant 12 foot tall Atrox player with his melee weapon back to his respawn city, even though he can kill me in 1 hit heheh.

Something else to think about when considering MMORPGs vs RPGs, Console games, RTS, and FPSs, etc:

    ----------------------             --------------          ------------        ---------------

About the "$50.oo" price, every single game nowadays costs $50.00 not just MMORPGs. RPG games cost $50.00 , console games cost $50.oo.

MMOPRGs are actually cheaper in the long run than a RPG, or Console game. RTS and FPS tend to last a bit longer. Most RPG and console games take 1 month to complete. 2 months at the most.

Then what? Everytime one re-plays it one knows exactly what will happen. Buy another RPG, another console game. That's $50.oo being spent every single month, (or "$25.oo" being spent every month for those who take 2 months to finnish a RPG, console game, etc..)

That's $300.oo a year spent on playing RPG games for players who take roughly 1 month to finnish most RPGs, etc...

Or 150.oo a year spent for players who take roughly 2 months to finnish most RPGs, etc..

    vs....

$170.00 to $200.oo a year for players who play 1 MMOPRG. It's like getting a new game every month or two months.... for the price of 1 game.

Even if a player spends 1-3 months playing a MMORPG they get more than their money's worth because just about every MMORPG is bigger than every RPG in terms of game world, the amount of choices of things to do a player has. Every time one plays, it's a different and new experience - either from going into a new zone, new planet, new city, meeting just 1 new player, having new conversations with friends, grouping and working together to kill other players and/or other monsters.

These experiences can only happen in a MMORPG..... EQ, AC, UO, AO, DAoC, SB, EnB, EVE, and SWG image

Plus with the first month free = the exact same thing as buying a regular $50.00 RPG, console game, FPS, RTS, etc.... no loss or extra cost at all. image

From the 6+ months I played, I found plenty of PvP on Bria, and Kauri. I am certain, though, that Bloodfin was named an unofficial PvP server.

i will play on bria then. but who hase more peple.just dont want to join a team of it hase to much people. it will not be to fun if i did that.

Yeah SWG PvP is good if you like unbalanced character classes. And only overts can be attacked anywhere and everywhere. Covert ops can operate and not get attacked. Their are stupid faction pet like the at-sts that make imps far  to good but those have been nerfed so I hear. If you want tru PvP I tell you World War 2 online is what you need for warlike PvP. SWG PvP sucked and will suck till they fix the god damn classes.

If you want PvP... make a character on the Bloodfin Server.  Theres usually always fighting in theed.  Plus I've been a awesome battle where 100+ rebels and 50+ imps meet half way in between Moenia and Deeja Peak.  Of course there was lag... but it was still a sight to see.  I definetly recommend waiting 6 months before buying this game.  After you mastered your character and done the 10-15 quests its like now what?

I recommend you play on Scylla and join either Pax Imperious (hardcore RP Imperial PA) or KOTOR (hardcore RP rebel PA).

I'll re-find my list of  all the unofficial PvP servers either later on today, or by tomm.

I do not recommend Bloodfin. It is an unofficial PvP server (the first one actually, and among the first 10 servers to be made from day one.).

The problem with Bloodfin is it was one of 4 servers effected by one of the worse ever loopholes/exploits in SWG during the first month of release. The exploit has since been taken care of, and the worse exploiters punnished. But many of them made plans for when punishment would come and semi-got around it LOL. The exploit favored Imperial, and other evil factioned players more. But just about everyone on Bloodfin gained from the exploit. There was talk of resetting the entire server, deleting everything. But SONY was too nervous about losing 12,000 to 24,000 accounts and didn't do any mass deletions.

Bloodfin = PvP server full of PvPers who got over on a major exploit during the first month of release. Very hard to almost impossible for a newbie PvPer to get started, get any kills, or to level up.
