God you made it so hard, there all so aweful.

AC2 had a nice quest system and Dark Ages PVP was a good break from the grind.... OH to hell with it, they all suck.

Really unfair to compare a game that hasn't been out 2 months even to a game thats been out like 5+ years and has like 8 or so expansions on it...

Star Wars Galaxies.  There is no leveling treadmill because there are no levels.

Content is updated monthly, with something new added to the overall story.  Players themselves make the best content in SWG, as there are more roleplayers setting up events and makingtheir own storylines, it far exceeds all other MMORPG's that are currently out   (Runner up is Horizons which adds content often, but it is often vague and inaccessible).

  • StereoviewerStereoviewer Member Posts: 238
Anyone who thinks SWG got non-repetitive conent is insane! The quests ruffly go like this: Kill X nr of a creature, travel from X to Y, craft an item, or if you´re a bouny hunter - track down a NPC and kill him.  NPC quests are a joke. They mostly involve travelling from X to Y and the reward is usually a piece of broken junk. The most innovative quests are about exterminating a bunch of creatures and destroying their nest. Yehaaaa! I heard Everquest is even worse though.

  • StereoviewerStereoviewer Member Posts: 238

The SWG story arc, what a joke! The first one was about collecting discs by killing bandit after bandit, hour after hour. The next story arc was a little better, but still was about getting from point X to point Y killing X number of a mob.

As for player content: Star Wars should be named Pet Wars, cause of all the pets in PvP. Also: the ones with the longest history of endless killling of mobs/players, where allways the ones winning in PvP. Hell, even though I gamed for half a year, I never got to the level of having a chance in PvP.

And SWG does have leveling, even though it´s slightly disguised. Everey career has several levels, but they are just not numbered.

I guess all current MMORPG´s have this kind of nonsens conent, but SWG has the worst kind. I played AC2 some time though, and it was oh so much more fun than SWG. It was something about the quests, they where more alive somehow. Maybe it was because they where not auto-generated. They mostly involved going somewhere and go looking for something, and you couldn´t know fully what to expect.

Surpised to see everquest got so many votes. I´ve never played it, but I hear some people hate it´s leveling treadmill. What types of quests does it have, exepct for the usual go from point X to point Y to kill X nr of mobs?

On the list of things EQ has done well, content is number #1. Allot about the game is bad, but the content isn't one of them.

Don't kid yourself, EQ blows everything away when it comes to content.

How can you guys evaluate games that aren't even out yet? :-P

    -Structure Fire - 11 Fire/Devices Blaster - Justice
    -Night.Stalker - VFA25 - Lo-Mac (yea, yea, it's not an MMORPG)
-Solister Thunderblade - 50 Pole, Thrust Arms - Pellinor (retired)
    -Splyt - 50 Skald - Tristan (reitred)
    -Sniper22 - WWII Online (semi-retired)

World of Warcraft...  Are you kidding me?

Have you even played in the beta or are you just riding the bandwagon?  It took Blizzard over a year to release a patch for Diablo 2, how long do you think it will take in WoW?

My vote would be for Ultima Online.

Star Wars Galaxies actually rates at the bottom of my list.  It took less than 2 months for my one and only character allowed per server (read comments below) to be skill capped and do all the missions which weren't broken.   I cancelled my account about 3 months ago and recently came back for the free 14 day recapture thing they're doing.  It only took 2 days to see and do everything that was added during that time.

Their 1 character per server rule is the most rediculas idea in the history of MMOG's.  The game is centered on community yet you are forced to change to another server (abandon your friends) or delete your character and start all over on the same server if you wish to build a new character.

Once again, I am reminded just how many non-roleplayers there are playing Roleplaying games.  Quests, missions, levels, and all that . . . who cares.  To me it's all about the fun of roleplaying, and there has been no other game yet that takes that and gives players the opportunity to live through their character like SWG does.  When I was talking about quests in SWG, I wasn't talking about the ones you get from the terminal, I meant the ones that players generate through their own ideas and storytelling, while offering their own rewards.  I'm afraid it'll never change, the roleplayers will always be the minority, but at least there is one decent game that we can appreciate.

I think Anarchy Online had the coolest level gaining. You really did look forward to your next level- There was always a Nano waiting for you! But i am most looking forward to EQ2. See you guys there =D

Kinda depends also on what you mean by content, personally I think Horizons has a really nice storyline and Artifact has been really good already about serverwide events to progress that story. And unlike SWG the serverwide events not only can be done with Crafter, Crafters are required in alot of it, they make the community work together, currently to free the Satyr race, which is a playable race, or will be, once they're freed from the Undead Hordes...

I played Horizons. In fact, i have the box sitting on my desk right now. The only problem with it was that it was much too repetitive. I mean, crafting was awesome, until i joined a guild and got all my armor for free. And the fact that it was the same process every time. Fighting was fun at first, but seriously, it does get boring. And for god sakes, damn brown wolves would slaughter me, regardless of my huge shield and platemail armor!

Anyway, its a fun game for a while, just a bit boring. And the graphics are a let down - i mean if they planned to release in late 2003, youde think they would have something better then EQ!

Asherons Call has the most Content in my experience but it is not on the list. Im jacked in to Horizons right now but as much as the stroy intrigues me Its not very interactive. I dont think AC2 should be up there on that list...it was pretty to see but contact lacked in a big way.
