Where are you getting this: "There is NO DOUBT that WoW is losing players". What are you talking about, where are you getting good enough numbers that contradict every official site there to say there is NO DOUBT.
Back yourself up or don't say it, period.
B/c not everyone who played the game is still playing, I know quite a few ppl who quite the game. B/c my mind is not narrow, I believe that a game can lose players but still have a net increase of subscriptions. The offical sites probably record the net amount of suscriptions are increasing but I doubt they record the gross amount of ppl gained vs the amount of ppl lost. So as I said ppl are leaving the game, as ppl leave every mmorpg game.
Nobody is saying that every single person that has played WoW has yet to leave, that makes no sense, I've the left the game and been gone for a good 2 months now, that's not the point here.
What you are saying is that there is NO DOUBT that they are LOSING players, which means one player is leaving and there is no subsequent new sign up to replace him/her. So again I say, where is you proof that you are right and every other source about WoW is wrong?
Oh oh oh... btw. Love the not so sublt narrow mind remark. Fantastic
I said players b/c there is more then one player leaving the game. I never said that players the game lost are not replaced. So you reading are into whats not there.
Though for arguement's sake, do these websites take in to account the number of accounts suscribed to by players? If 500,000 ppl have 2 accounts each ,then they account for 1 million suscriptions. Just b/c WoW has 6 + million suscriptions does not mean they nearly that many players. Also if these websites cant take in to account the number accounts sold by players leaving and the number accounts bought by ppl who are already playing the game, then they really can not determine how many players WoW has lost. And from my limted experience large guilds buying and paying for the accounts of members that have quit the game are not that uncommon, b/c they dont want to lose the time went in to building up the gear/profession of that character.
WOW seems busier now than when I began with sheer numbers, and how many servers are added and quickly fill. So I find it hard to believe the game has that many subscribers.
I have a habit of asking the incredible, but if I don't ask I'll never find what I want...

WoW has nowhere near 5 million SUBSCRIBERS.
you are right. it has 6.5 millions CUSTOMERS
This does include people that played it in last month in a Internet cafe.

World of Warcraft's Customer Definition World of Warcraft customers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or purchased a prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the installation box bundled with one free month access. Internet Game Room players that have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as customers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired pre-paid cards. Customers in licensees' territories are defined along the same rules.
I swear I need to add the above as a short-key.

Alot of fan boy posts, fair enough you like the game but its simple fact a game cannot sustain an exponential growth of its playerbase unless the game evolves as time goes on, its inevitable that when a new game that offers something more then WoW, is well polished, has lots of content and has something about it, it people will want to check it out. This is called the life cycle of the MMO nothing lasts for ever. With that said WoW for the immediate future is not going to die, 6 million people are not going to leave to play warhammer for all we know that game could suck EA nuts. In the mean time you should just enjoy the game your playing and not worry about 10 people who left a server you don't play on. WoW as it currently stands could go on for 8 to 10 years provided they add new elements to the game and add a bit more to cater for the casual gamer who comes on for 2 hours per day. As it stands this game is HC player friendly at the moment and thats when problems after a certain amount of time start to occur. Not everyone has the time to spend 4 hours raiding every day or spend 7 months grinding out Honor etc. So those numbers that have left are probably bored casual gamers, people who have taken a break or people who have put the game on hold to persue real life activities. In otherwords its nothing to worry about its perfectly normal for a game thats about 2 years old.

so if mmo players are leaving WOW, they still have a need for an mmorpg in their life,
which mmorpg are they switching to?
just curious because i played WOW for over a year and got sick of raiding the same 40 mans week after week, and the new content bored me as well, and now i am looking for something to play until Vanguard or Warhammer comes out,

Well, here are a few phases that some gamers that quit wow for some reason or another have gone through.
1) drift from game to game
1b) Stick to said game you swiched to
2) Go back to the game cause it seems like there isn't anything else.
3) Wait for some of the new MMOs and not even be in a game at the time.
I've been through all those. =^-^=;; I'm on 3 right now and I'm damn proud of it.

Agreed. It's beyond me why anyone would continue to pay for any game, or product, they're unhappy with. Especially with a MMO like WoW, where you can easily get back into the game at any time.

Why do people stay in a relationship when the other person beats them? That may be an extreme example but that mentality is very prevalent in life in many aspects. The kind of people who coldly and dispassionately evaluate a situation based on past behavior and trends and then do what is best for themselves are actually fairly rare.
Especially when you consider the Blizzard "oh the next patch will fix everything" PR strategy. They will promise you the moon but do it extremely vaguely. The fact is Blizzard is very good at stringing people along and most people just want to be told what they want to hear. Of course when the people finally reach the boiling point they hate Blizzard instead of loving it. That is why WoW is often so polarizing. Its because of all the irrational expectations and irrational fanbois(lovers) that Blizzard purposely fosters and takes advantage of. The fact is people want to believe the best of Blizzard because they like the company for some reason so they latch onto any excuse to validate their original opinion and Blizzard is only too happy to do so.
It doesn't matter that they are unhappy, what matters is whether or not Blizzard takes advantage of whatever seed of hope is left to them. Blizzard is very good at hype. Its 50% of what built their company. However the other 50%, good implementation/undertanding/touch up ideas, has been decidely lacking for some time. Eventually the hype won't be enough, but for those people who attached themselve to Blizzard it will take a long time for them stop giving Blizzard a line of credit so to speak. A very long time.

Who's at fault then: Blizzard or the fool that buys into the 'hype'?
Imo, there's absolutely no reason why a player should continue to pay for a service that he/she is unhappy with; especially with an mmo like WoW, which is relatively easy to get back into. If you don't like the current game, or the trend the game is taking, then cancel your subscription.
Even you still have some attachment to the game, you can still follow it without paying for the service. As an example, head over to the Star Wars Galaxies forum. I'd wager that the majority of participants no longer have a subscription to the game.
I play an MMO for what it is 'today', not what it may be. I wouldn't characterize that as 'coldly and dispassionately evaluate a situation', I call that common sense.
As the 'beating the spouse' analogy; that's completely off-base. We're talking about a frivolous form of entertainment, which doesn't come close to that type of test.
Ico Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
If there is one thing thats good about WoW (not saying its the only one, but at the very LEAST!) is that it has plenty of poeple. Honestly you wont have problems finding poeple. Cheers mate
