San Diego Summit Update

MX13MX13 Member Posts: 2,489

If this is true, I will be LMAO for a while...

CLICKY4U

I got up and went to the Marroitt to attend. Asked where which room it is in. This was the response I received:

"You are the second person to ask me that. We do not have it on any of our lists. I don't know where it is."

I was then instructed to call the hotel operator, she contacted someone in administration, they are not on the list for meetings at all. I even walked over to the Hyatt which is the next hotel, just in case they moved it, or meant to put that one down. Nothing. Couldn't ask over at the convention center to see if they moved it there, because can't get inside at that time to go to the info desk.

So morning wasted looking for a summit that wasn't at the place they said it would be at.
The Guy lives in San Diego, and was positive about the address...

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

$OE's actions are all the help they need.

Just one post on the official forums, in the summit section. So far business as ussual, nothing extraordinary. The poster said about 35-45 people.

Well - that sucks.  IF there was going to a huge announcement they would have done it by now.  Ohh well

So, I just got back from the Community Summit in San Diego, and I've brought back some not so exciting news. Well, it's somewhat interesting, but this Summit wasn't nearly as informative as the previous ones a few months back. Basically, the main focus was re-iterating what the primary goals are for the rest of the year and listening to players' reactions in order to bring SWG back to what it once was and not what it is now.

After all was said and done, I got the feeling that they're on the right track to improving restoring the game by bringing back some very useful tools at our disposal. Here are a few notes I took down as Julio presented them:

    What's Coming:

    Chapter 2 - August

Profession Expertise System (PES) for Jedi and Bounty Hunters
Character appearance upgrade (humans, zabraks, and twi'leks)
Story-driven quests for player levels 41 through 43
Battle for control of GCW static bases
    AUTO-AIM
    Additional polishing and bug fixing

From what they presented, it appears that we'll be getting our auto-aim back. To put it clearly, as long as we have a direct line-of-sight towards our target, we no longer have to click on them in order to attack. Hmm... but, wait. You're probably asking, "But Kouin... didn't they specifically stress that auto-aim WILL NOT be returning?" That was my initial reaction and, unfortunately, I wasn't able to inquire on the decision to bring auto-aim back. Nonetheless, I welcome its return.

    Chapter 3 - Early Fall

    Double toolbar slots
    Resizable Radar
Profession Expertise System for Officers and Smugglers
    Smuggling System
    Additional polishing and bug fixing
    More story-driven quests

    Chapter 4 - Late Fall

    Profession Expertise System for Traders
    Trader Re-Vamp
    New story-driven quests
    Additional profession-specific quests
    Additional character appearance upgrades
    Improved combat animations
    Additional polishing and bug fixing

    Chapter 5 - Winter

Profession Expertise System for Medics and Commandos
    New story-driven quests
    Additional profession-specific quests
    Additional polishing and bug fixing

I'll be uploading pictures and videos shortly... and I apologize for not being able to ask the questions ya'll wanted me to ask since these blasted forums were down and I couldn't look up the questions.

In other news, Li'hai and I were deemed "Best Dressed" at the summit... lol.

This is probably the most uninformative dullest thing I have ever read. $WG is on its own level of crappiness.

Hmmm so in essence they just told everyone about their publish plan... Which I would like to point out is nothing close to what they origionally posted for the NGE... Nice.. I guess the other sad thing is they are adding content / stuff BACK into the game.. Is this their subtle way of saying the NGE sucks? So again they wasted another year that they could of spent fixing a game we all liked..

Sorry.. anyone who has the balls to put in a smuggler revamp after promising it for OVER two years HAS to be putting it in only for comedic value.

On the bright side, right before every promised Smuggling Revamp, has come a core game change.

    Haha

If this whole situation wasn't funny enough they just made it better.

I would have more respect if they A) admitted thier plan failed  OR
    B) totaly denied it and stuck to thier stubborn guns

But to slowly dribble back the old game it just wrong and unfair to both pre NGE and post NGE fans.

It occurs to me that this is actually rather clever (mind you, I don't think it's deliberate cleverness on SOE's part).  By bringing pre-CU elements into the NGE instead of puting up "Classic" servers, they are avoiding the risk of exposing the pre-CU system for the emulator project(s) to use.
