Ok I don't know if it's just me or what. It seems to me that we are in the bad times for mmorpgs. For me this is true because I'm not playing one now, all the ones that are out now haven't caught my attention, and it seems like most games that are comming out (good games) won't be out for 3 months or so...

I don't know, maybe its just me!

Unfortunently, I am in a rut as well. I have played almost every single MMO on the market at least once, and although all of them have great features that set them apart, i've grown tired of them. I am impaciently awaiting the "next-gen" MMO's as well!!

I've heard HORRIBLE stuff about SWG from people that have played it. But is it really that bad? i know ive never played it...but i guess maybe the reviews that ive read about it and the screenshots ive seen have all been from people that actually like the game! lol

and isnt that game very pricey? remmeber last i saw it somewhere it was around 50 dollars? and like 13 a month? yet i havent gone shopping in a long time so it might have changed

Im hoping UXO will break this monotony. Im looking for a mmorpg with more exciting style of combat. I vow to never buy another game with boring combat ala SWG, AO, DaOC, and Horizons.

I havn't played a game for about 2 years now. This is rediculous, and i've talked about it in some other forums and topics. All these games strike me as quick-cash games (for the developers), and they're not long term like games. These are just temporary stupid games. I am waiting for a few games that look ok. Lineage II, UXO, and I am especially waiting to see what they do with the former kick ass UO. ((They are having a group in San Fran about what they are going to do with UO.))

I have played:

UO

Shadowbane (I didn't count Shadowbane in that 2 year thing because I only played it for 1 month.)

me personally (just my opinion) think that Star Wars Galaxies is the biggest piece of donkey doo doo out there for a MMORPG. It's not just the bugs and the nerfs and the broken classes but it's the deceit the DEVS on SWG plays to their players.

Anways, lol, sorry. Yes, believe it or not, the POS is still 50 bucks. Gotta love it when Lucasarts sells their souls to SOE lol.

hmm City of Heroes, IMO, wont do well either.

You cant be a bad buy, you can PvP, the lead DEV has admitted that he sorely hates any form of PvP (so you know it wont be added and if it ever will be it wont be for a long time).

Also, there is no sense of an outside world.....just one big-butt city.

I don't know, I just see people playing 2 months tops just to see what its like to be a super hero and that's pretty much it.

Plus, it disturbs me as I envision a bunch of Comicbook Shop Owners (like the Comicbook shop owner from the Simpsons) getting together pretending to be redhead ladies in spandex fighting street thugs.

SWG is 14.95 per month and yeah the box is still like $40.

Personally i think the game is good for about 1 or 2 months then goes boring pretty fast.

This has been the trend i noticed since 2001.

This is when the last great mmorpg as far as i am concerned was released-DAoC.

Before that you had other great titles UO(amazing for its time),EQ(still a good game),AC(not a super game but holds well against many titles),AO(not a bad game compared to many too).

It is very sad that more then 2 years after DAoC nothing worth speaking about has come out.

Alot of this newer games have nothing new to offer but better graphics.

Recently i was reflecting back and realised that the best dungeons in any mmorpg comes from a 5 yr old game -EQ!

I mean come on with all the new and beautiful graphics one would think they come have made good dungeons.

AC2 - dungeons are basically a hole in some hill that goes round and round with same type of lame mob.

SWG- same looking cave all over the planets!

I hope EQ2 and WoW will relive the magic.But I am losing hope in anything good been made soon.

Right now i am heading back to DAoC till that time.

Ok definetly not just you ..or me apperently! Last MMO i played was Horizons and i lost interest in that extremely quickly.Seems to me the games that have come out recently have been lackluster at best , if you want my advice save your cash over the next few months for system upgrades good games are just a few months away.

WOW...UOX..everquest2 (if you're into the whole everquest thing)..Unreal tournament 2004..Doom3..Farcry..Halflife 2 and a little farther down the road Dragon empires and Darkfall .

Hopefully the gamming industry gets at least a few of these right..god knows we have all been waiting long enough!!

Do you think maybe that all the games that have come out lately have been made in shorter amounts of time than the others in the past that have been so good? or that these games just havent gotten enough people to make more updates to them? or they just completly lack everyting! lol

Lead Developer does not pay the bills. If upper management sees that the game is doing poorly due to the lack of PvP, you better believe that PvP will be added.

I've heard nothing but good things about this game. The official CoH forums are swarming with people. This game will do very well because it breaks the mold from the usual fantasy and futuristic MMORPGs. A lot of people read comic books all over the world and so far the superhero market has not been cashed in on. This game is planning to do just that.

Just look at another superhero game: Freedom Force, that game still has a huge following eventhough it's been out for over 2 years now.

Basically every thing since and around AO has been a crap game only made to make money, here is my mmo history

uo "my first mmo" played 6years quit a few times always went back also played on player run.

ac lasted 3 days couldent stand the graphics, as I had gotten sick of uo's graphics as well

eq maybe a week tried twice so maybe a week and 2 days, couldent stand that game

hrm gets a bit iffy now

lineage 2 days graphics again

AO maybe 1-2 months got sick of the zoneing and some other stuff

motor city online "don't laugh" probly 6-10 months quit once

daoc several months no houseing no player run vendors no fun quests boring game even the pvp was boring

shadowbane week "total and utter crap"

ac2 month or 2 good game needed lots of work

eve online month

neacron 2 hours crap game

horizons about 5 days total crap

planetside 3 months

swg 2-4 months so so I have quit now can't stand 1 char per server nor the skill system

a bunch of other low budget crap mmo's

Lineage 2 Taiwan beta, 4 days so far think its a intresting pvp based game so far. Cant wait for the north american beta.

I think that lists the main ones, as you can see I have vast experiance playing crap mmo's lol and my personall opinion is that most of these have been rushed to marked just to make money on the "mmo hype" I am still waiting for ultima-online 2 to come out rofl

As soon as spring comes round all hells gonna break loose with UXO, EQ2, L2, and also WoW. Can't wait till then.

Other than not being able to wait I can't decide which one to play.........Oh hell ill just play them all!!!
