Originally posted by thej6m I'm with the original poster anytime I've gotten excited about a new MMO that will be released in just a few months (unlike western mmos which have been in development for YEARS I'm looking at you Darkfall!) they turn out to be crap because they are cheap Korean imports. Much like we have BAD GTA clones the Koreans have bad MMOs. Half of their games have 1 zone and don't have a con system! (RYL and RF) If you can run from the level 1 area to the level 50 area in 10 minutes your game is crap. These games arn't up to the quality of western developed MMOs. Go play RYL for a week and then come back in here complaining about DAOC or WOW.
Actually, most korean MMO's have numbers of years of development behind them. ofcourse there are bad Korean MMO's, just like there are bad western MMO's. you played only a few and put all the korean games in the same boat
"Go play RYL a week and then come back in here complaining about DAOC or WoW?"
Go play Tibia or Runescape for a week and then come back here complaining about Lineage 2 or Ragnarok Online.
Gameloading, your preaching has gotten you no converts, has it? You just go on and on and on and on about your Korean point and click me-too's and expect people to believe you. Hasn't happened, has it? No, sir...
Just give up, unless upping your post count is your thing.

thats odd, i thought forums are here for discussion?
I'm not trying to get any "converts". people can hate korean MMO's as much as they like, everybody is allowed to an oppinion, but if you do, at least get your facts right.

If the MMO standard were to be written by Korean game developers then all male characters would have heroic proportions with weapontry that underscored some deep seated compensation for being inadequeately equipped in some personal area. Female characters would be overly endowed and viewed in garb associated with a bad S/M stereotype regardless of how the same garb worn by a male character would be veiwed.
While seeing an attractive woman in a provocative outfit might by appealling it hardly makes sense where protective gear is concerned, Lineage II and WoW are both guilty as sin in this regard. Though WoW isn't a Korean MMO the trend is in that direction and I personally would like to see it stopped.
Okay, there are people that like Korean or as I call them "eastern" MMOs, usually anime/manga fans like me like them (even if I'm currently playing WoW and just playing a few free eastern ones). I just say this, stop comparing WoW with say, L2. That's like comparing water guns with bazookas. They are not in the same category, if you are going to bash an estern MMO by comparing it the do so with another Korean MMO. Like how much RFO sucks compared to FFXI.

Yes, it would be odd to you as your idea of discussion differs from most. "Point and click is teh win 'cos da Koreans all do it and you're wrong, wrong, wrong" is not discussion by any classical definition.
Bah, deja vu...I've had this out with you before and it's like dealing with a brick wall.

If i remember correctly, you had the exact same example with keyboard movement, so I don't really understand your point.
besides, I kinda failed to see why you bring point & click movement in this. we are talking about korean MMO's in general, not just "point & click" movement. and if you really think I only use the fact that most korean MMO's use point & click system as arguement why I prefer point & click over keyboard, then I think its better if you read my posts a little better.

Don't know what you are smoking, but Gameloading always makes good points. As for this topic, I bet most of the people here complaining about korean games. Played maybe 1 or 2 (chances are one of them wasn't even korean). Then pretty much assumed that you could comment on the quality of their games, because you have experience with a couple of them. Korean games may be a grind, but so is every western MMO released.
Korean games tend to spend much more time in beta then western games. Hardly ever are their games rushed to the market. Just look at RF Online, the beta testing of it by Codemasters lasted 3 months at best. Eastern MMO's tend to be less buggy at release, and during their beta's then western MMO's.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
People have their reasons to like westen MMOs and other people have a reason to like eastern ones. Personally I like eastern ones because you actually work hard to earn stuff and it's not just that anyone can reach the higher lvl or so. And I like western ones for when I just want to have some fun doing meaningful quests etc. Maybe I'm weird.
Is it just me or am I one of the only persons that realizes WoW is actually a Korean mmorpg? I know this is a little off topic but really alot of people don't know that WoW is a korean mmorpg. Look at your rep bar and what do you see? I see lots of little exp bars

I think Blizzard was an american company the last time I checked
all mmorpgs are build upon grinding and there is no sense in bitching about the grind in mmos couse nothing will change since they need your cash and the easiest way to bind the players to a game is to make it a grind feast and if they reach the lvl cap just get them some new stupid mobs and a lil higher lvl cap -much easier than trying to create some interesting content
Blizzard is an american company as far as I know, but World of Warcraft was released on November 12, 2004 in korea as a downloadable game. The north american release date was November 23, 2004. It's a korean game.

Wrong. please get your facts right.
World of Warcraft was launched on November 23, 2004 in NA, Australia and New zealand
World of Warcraft was launched on January 18, 2005 in Korea
World of Warcraft launched in europe february 11, 2005.
Yet... some of the most over-hyped games haven't been too great. Hero Online wasn't that wonderful in my opinion. Mustn't be my type of game or something...

its an american MMO. created in America, and published first in america
Good ol' American engineering, right? Works great and flawlessly in the beginning, then starts to drag and fall apart once you hit the end... like my Ford ^_^.
Sorry, couldn't resist >_>.
Anyway, yes. World of Warcraft is an American game through and through. Blizzard is based in the United States.... honestly, who says it's Korean? -_-
that is the date the game became pay to play in korea. it was a free korean mmorpg before it was ever released in N/A. I dont give a shit what the blizzard website says they are just trying to cover up the fact that they realesed the game as a free mmorpg in korea to see how popular it was before releasing it in N/A

Good grief, Nethaniah. You aren't the sharpest knife in the draw are you? What Gameloading posted is correct. I don't care what you make think you know. Because you are indeed incorrect. You know when World of Warcraft was released in Korea, better then Blizzard does? lol I don't think so, I personally think you are
