I grow out of mmorpgs until there is a new(not existing) mmo out there that offers twitch based with no dice rolling aspects.

I originally got into MUDs and MMOs because I was looking for a replacement for tabletop gaming that'd be available whenever I had time to play. Unfortunately, the only aspects of tabletop gaming that MMOs have attempted to capture so far are the mechanics and rules sets. What I've been looking for all these years isn't a bunch of game mechanics, it's actual involvement in an ongoing story- the Journey System in Hero's Journey is the first time I've heard of any MMO trying to provide that. Now, whether it actually turns out to be entertaining (or even functional) is yet to be determined.

I'm affraid you're going to be sorely dissappointed then. WoW has a "journey system", DAoC has a "journey system". They just didn't call it that. So what if they code in to substitute "Ogres" for the standard "orcs" because your characters history says to do that? Or the alternative, like in CoH/CoV if they give you a named enemy that gets thrown into the mix of static quests.

Think about it. If it's coded in, then it has to follow the coded formula. It's just not possible to do anything but substitute things, maybe monsters, maybe the reward, maybe the locations, but it still boils down to static play that's dictated to you just like the other games. So you get to defeat {your nemesis} at {random quest location X } and retrieve a {+100 sword to replace the +90 sword you got last time}.

Next up...follow the coded brick road, follow, follow, follow, follow, follow the coded brick road.

This is, after all, how level grind games are played. Look for new things (like ships in Vanguard, not sure about HJ), sure, but the game play is exactly the same.

    Once upon a time....

The MMO business is in a slump right now indeed. They basically re-ash the same sauce all over again with different spice instead of creating a new sauce with it's own taste.

My suggestion would be that you should take a break from it and play some good single player game that offers a lot of content (Like Oblivion) until a "real" next-gen MMO come out.

Getting burned by the same crap with different spices is very disapointed... But the genre is stock in a pandora box right now, with every joe and their dog trying to milk it to the last drop.

Give it a year or 2 and come back. Like anything else, the roaller coaster will come back in a upper segment soon or later. Right now, it is at the end of the slope and loosing speed quickly. So keep your money for yourself until a good ride if offered for what you're looking for.

I believe war hammer will be interesting if you like PvP. The PvE should be covered nicely in Vanguard as well but as usual, it's always good to give a new MMO a year before entering it, unless you're planning to create a big guild or something. If you're not in any hurry, it's all to your advantage. A good MMO will always provide new servers on a monthly basis anyway, so there's no need to fear to start a year later and get behind the community.

What deserves to be done, deserves to be "well" done...

If there was a game like DAoC in its first year, I would be there in a heartbeat. Trouble is, there ARE alot of great games out there still, and they all have been ruined by expansions. DAoC learned this, and came out with a "classic" server, trouble is they didnt go far enough with it. I suspect games like SWG would be good if thier expansions didnt ruin them. EVE has such strong support now because CCP never messed with it I think, you pay the price of one game box and the monthly fee and thats all you ever needed! No strong almost forced incentive to buy the game 3 or 5 more times or be left out. Once this trend STOPS and stops absolutely then things will be good again in MMORPG land.

Another problem is Ebay, but I wont get into this now.
