why all the negativity about PvP? in MMORPG's

Ok, after reading a ton of these posts I have to ask why is everyone so against PvP?! that's what makes the game fun!! I played UO for six years! because it was the best. it had the perfect combat system, guilds could actually fight each other whenever they wanted, there was no stupid combat zones. if you were out alone there was a good chance you were gonna get ganked by another guild, OH HEAVENS NO! NOT THAT!or even if you weren't in a guild and you were just doing your mining or something, there was a slim chance that someone might try to murder you, BIG DEAL! didn't that make you wanna get even? HELL YES! and then you did, it might have taken a month ,but you got even and didn't that feel great???, my point is, if you don't want PvP in a game, then why bother playing an online game? or play SWG

PvP is like preparing Fugu sushi( a VERY poisonous blowfish) if not handled by the most skilled chefs, you could die 30 times over from it's poison.
Well if you did die you wouldn't have to worry about paying the $150 it cost to buy a serving....

So everyone go pick what suits you thats what variety is for.
Making post why pvp rocks or why pvp sucks have been done numerous times .
You know, every official PvP MMORPG board I go to, I see the following: "OMGF nerf teh archers !!@!", "mages r 2 strong !!!!@~~", "warriors are unbalanced!", "OMG devs nerf teh poison!"
Then after the game is ruined completely, the PvPers blame the carebears...

Not everyone's against PvP. Most that I know of are for PvP.
Where did you get this idea that most are against PvP.
I was never a big fan of PvP in MMORPGs anyway. I don't hate it and I do participate in it from time to time but in most MMORPGs PvP combat is boring and everything gets nerfed so bad that the only difference between classes is visual.
Besides, I enjoy PvP games where actual player skill is important, not how much exp you toon has.
If PVP is done right it is alot of fun. like in DAoC its great and some if the PVP servers in Everquest are not bad as well, but some people really dislike it and of course there is always a few grief players that spoil it for the bunch. Thats why I like the idea of PVP servers , so if you like pvp you can go at it, and if not you dont have to fool with it. Its all boils down to preferance.

odd the responses this heading draws.
every game should have pvp with choice. this enables everyone to be happy....err....then again it's fun to pk them ppl that hate pvp and whine like a baby.....but wait.......why are they playing a pvp game the first place....maybe they enjoy crying........therefor all games should have pvp hands down

I think I have a good summary for all these PvP threads.
PvP is like a pyramid, where the
top consist of the well established guilds.
middle is the PKers and less established guilds.
bottom are mostly the newbies and the crafters.
the bottom also is the largest members of the server, and campanies dont want to ignore them.
It is fun when u r on the top, but frustrating when u r at the bottom.
BTW, all you pro-PvP cursing the carebares, I suggest u play StarSonata so u will understand how the carebares feels when they r over-preyed by uber-high-levels. It is extremely frustrating to be PKed by ppl way above your level. I wish all PKers are honorable. (I havent played StarSonata for awhile, so not sure if it is still up.)

pvp puts fun in the game without the pvp we would have no pvp.

Ok Ill tone it down...Im sure whoever deleted that post was a str8 carebear. I think the answer to this debate is this. If ur gonna get a game and u dont like pvp dont get a pvp game and likewise if u like pvp dont get a game that has no pvp. But dont complain for or against the pvp or no pvp in the game. As I stated before though...you can take a carebear and make him/her love pvp but you can never take a hardcore pvper and make them non pvpers. So research before your purchase......ok how was that??
You can't tell people what to think. If PvP is good or not, is mostly an opinionated question unless you are talking about making a game and wether you should add it in. Personally i am in favor of PvP, but that doesn't make it good or bad. That is just my OPINION.
Also I am really getting tired of answering PvP vs no PvP, because you always have people saying the same exact reasons over and over again for why it is good and why it is bad. So stop asking until some game comes out with a diffrent way of doing PvP, or not doing it.
