As a former Sgt. in the Marines Corps I take it as an offensive statement. Alot of Marines (and soldiers) through out our history (since Nov. 10th, 1775) have died so you can spout your bullshit in freedom .... and they are still dying today.

Any good wine to be sampled down there? And how's the golf? BTW, did you rent a red car while you were down there, to go with your preferred style? Hopefully these were only short TODs.
I'm no wine expert, but people I know that have visited from other parts of the world praise the wines we have here. It's pretty expensive if you buy it off the shelf in a US store though, something like US$30 for a small bottle. Some of the golf courses are situated in areas with some really stunning views.

Since this is trolling I will treat the post that way:
You haven't a clue what your talking about. You have no facts (a search of this forum or a google would tell you the truth), and the only sense that seems to be active is the smell of your unkempt rear.
So please, get your mom to wash your underwear and don't eat beans.
Woah, i sense alot of anger in you. Try therapy, no one should be this bitter over some changes in a game.
My anger isn't as deep as the fanbois blind obedience and lack of intelligence.
Care to explain how you come to such conclusions ?

Most servers are ghost towns now. Even Bria, Ahazi and Chimeara that i play on only has a fraction of their former population. Bria has an all Aussie guild called KOALA. It used to be a fairly large guild. Not many of them remains now i think.(Like most guilds)

I find your statement to be very irrational, I mean if the marine (who you don't know) beat up the farmer (who you also don't know) would you be puzzled if I posted saying "well I'm a former farmer and am offended by your statment"? After all a farmers job is just as important is it not?
Still it could've been worse, he might've been in an Australian pub and got beaten up by Shane Warne, now that would be embaressing!
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"
I'm curious. How is saying a marine once got beat up in a pub as the only example of hearing anything bad about people in New Zealand, a slam against the Marine Corps?

First of all it isn't a true story.
Second, there are no Marines stationed in New Zealand. The closest base a Marine would be stationed at is Subic Bay Philippines after that would be Okinawa.
Third, I know the training Marines go through first hand. Training doesn't stop at basic trainning it continues throughout their carreer on a daily basis. So there is no way a "farmer" is going to kick the ass of a Marine. If this was true the US would have not been able to save the worlds ass in World Wars I or II.
Forth, because this is NOT a true story and the author of that post chose to say what he said shows me he has NO respect for the men and women in uniform, especially the ones that voluntarily gave their lives. He chose the Marines because they are amoung the toughest fighting men in the world, if not the toughest. He chose a "farmer" because he knows this would be the biggest insult to the Marines. People (service men) have died throughout the history of the US to create and build this country, they have died liberating other countries, and they have died to prevent other countries from being invaded by some other aggressor nation.
Fifth, The US is an ALL volunteer force. To belittle those people or the image of those that are sacraficing their lives, their bodies (as some do not come home in one piece), and their sacrafice of the families is something I will not tolerate.
One last thing ... one of you is in Norway the other in England ... are you speaking German? Didn't think so.
For all three of you need to learn respect for other people and the sacrafices they made so that you don't have to live under a Fidel Castro, Hitler, or Saddam Hussein.

Leave it to Obraik to say he doesn't agree with it.
His use of "dicouraging" does not invalidate what he said. What it does do is verify what I said. I see that you apply your same logic about the NGE and $OE to other stuff too.

First of all it isn't a true story.
Clearly you have no idea wether it is, as you most likely weren't there.
Second, there are no Marines stationed in New Zealand. The closest base a Marine would be stationed at is Subic Bay Philippines after that would be Okinawa.
He could've been on vacation, could he not? Or on leave perhaps? I don't know how those things work, but I doubt marines are only members of USMC while they are on duty.
I've both seen and heard about members of the USMC getting beat up by people with little or no combat training. I even stepped in to protect one once, as he was about to have his arse handed to him by a very big very angry local whose girlfriend had taken offense to something the marine had said or done (he was very drunk, though nobody in the immediate vicinity were exactly sober until a police officer showed up). The right (or wrong, depending on your perspective) amount of alcohol in your body doesn't exactly do wonders for your combat prowess. Besides, for all you know, the farmer had combat training. Many farmers do have hobbies and non-farming activities they occupy their time with, and some of them may have actually done things before taking up farming. Perhaps you, as a former USMC sergeant, takes up a job as a cable repair guy or a car mechanic or any other job having nothing to do with combat. Would that suddenly make you incapable of fighting efficiently? I think not.

He wasn't slamming the USMC or any soldiers. Claiming he did only indicates that you are so narrowminded you think everything that doesn't directly praise the marines, is a slam. It isn't, and it never will be, no matter how much you think it is.
Fifth, The US is an ALL volunteer force. To belittle those people or the image of those that are sacraficing their lives, their bodies (as some do not come home in one piece), and their sacrafice of the families is something I will not tolerate.
Nobody has shown any kind of disrespect towards them.

It's rather ironic how you demand blind respect for the US military, while at the same time belittling the military and the WWII underground resistance in the majority of Europe with a statement like that. It makes you a hypocrite.
For all three of you need to learn respect for other people and the sacrafices they made so that you don't have to live under a Fidel Castro, Hitler, or Saddam Hussein.
Again, nobody has shown these people any kind of disrespect here. The difference is how you interpret it, and you obviously decide to interpret it in the worst possible way. You can not hold others responsible for your own twisted interpretation.

I HAVE been to Okinawa and other places in the pacific. It is a one year tour of duty. Before you go all service men take 30 days of leave because when you are over there, there is no "vacations".
You are right .. you don't know. So why are you even making a statement?

You are correct. During WWII Marines was mainly in the Pacific. There were some Marine units in Europe but Euorpe was mainly an Army show.
There was also some Army units in the Pacific too. It wasn't strictly Marines.

First of all it isn't a true story. Clearly you have no idea wether it is, as you most likely weren't there. Were you there? I think not .. Marines are the only members of the Marine Corps. So what's your point? If you have one. Either you're actually saying that the marines in the USMC are not members of the USMC if they are on vacation, or you're not actually reading what I wrote. You're actually implying that members of the USMC have never been in New Zealand for any reason, and if that is true, then - and only then - the story can not be true. Third, I know the training Marines go through first hand. Training doesn't stop at basic trainning it continues throughout their carreer on a daily basis. You brought it up, and if you're going to make statements like that, you should atleast offer a shred of consideration to what it actually implies. Besides, the "we saved your arse in WWII" argument is old and over-used. Hell, you'd all be living in tents hunting buffalo on the praerie if it wasn't for Europe. Yes, I know how stupid that statement really is, I'm using it to prove my point - neither you nor anyone else knows how the world would've looked like today if history hadn't happened the way it did. It's simply an invalid argument. For all three of you need to learn respect for other people and the sacrafices they made so that you don't have to live under a Fidel Castro, Hitler, or Saddam Hussein. Again, nobody has shown these people any kind of disrespect here. There's an old saying, "seek and you shall find" - if you look for people disrespecting something, you will find it, regardless of what the intention really is. The difference is how you interpret it, and you obviously decide to interpret it in the worst possible way. You can not hold others responsible for your own twisted interpretation. Have you EVER served in the military? Any branch at any time in any capacity? Though I fail to see the relevance, here in Norway, every male serve the military at some time in some capacity, except if there are medical reasons for someone not to. We're all drafted at the age of 18.

Sir, please do not disrespect my grandfathers generations effort to get rid of the nazi's. Yeah the US made a huge effort in the WW's but they didnt do it alone by far. I served in the norwegian army and now serve in the national gurads. Ive met a few US, british and dutch soldiers in my time. Most by far good men. But a few rotten appels also. like there are everywhere in the world. Again, I ask you to please do not disrespect those who fought and died. /salute

I never disrespected your grandfather in any way. If you took it that way it is your problem.
The original author has YET to defend his remarks and is falling upon others to do it for him. His statement was specifically against the "USMC". So I addressed it as that. I did not bring into the picture any other group that contributed to the war(s) because the original author didn't include them. But what I did say was service men and women. I would assume that would cover the Underground movement and you grandfathers contribution.
BUT the FACT remains, ALL of Europe would be speaking one language if the US had not entered the war.
What i also find interesting is that I responded to that particular authors post (who has yet to defend himself) and I have explained why I feel the way i do and I am getting from 4-5 people is that I have NO right to feel the way I feel or that I have "twisted" what he said.

Obedience and intelligence? Its a GAME buddy. If you dont enjoy it you dont play it. I dont particularily like SOE, but i absolutely love swg and that wont ever change, especially not when SOE keeps making the game better by the day.

So what ever they do this game you will love it. Well that pretty mutch nulls every arguement you will or have ever made.
Do you really think such love is healthy? as you say for just a game.

I don't know if you are trying to be funny or if this was an INTENDED slam against the Marine Corps.
As a former Sgt. in the Marines Corps I take it as an offensive statement. Alot of Marines (and soldiers) through out our history (since Nov. 10th, 1775) have died so you can spout your bullshit in freedom .... and they are still dying today.
Have a nice day.

That is odd, I have been to NZ nine times and all nine times there have been Americans with us, they and I were treated very well by the friendly people there. In fact the only time I have ever really heard a discouraging thing said about the people in NZ was by a member of the USMC who got beat up by a farmer in the pub we were in. Thank you for your time.

Leave it to Obraik to say he doesn't agree with it.

Oh and on the "Are you speaking German?" part, unless my history is WAY off, which i highly doubt it is the Marine Corps mainly fought in the Pacific Theatre. Not there there wernt ANY in Europe, but the vast majority of U.S. forces in the European Theatre were U.S. Army.

You are correct. During WWII Marines was mainly in the Pacific. There were some Marine units in Europe but Euorpe was mainly an Army show.
There was also some Army units in the Pacific too. It wasn't strictly Marines.

Either you're actually saying that the marines in the USMC are not members of the USMC if they are on vacation, or you're not actually reading what I wrote. You're actually implying that members of the USMC have never been in New Zealand for any reason, and if that is true, then - and only then - the story can not be true.

You're the one implying that all of Europe would be speaking German today if it wasn't for the US. The European armies and WWII underground resistance fought agains the nazis as well, and your statement makes it seem as if what they did would've been pointless if it wasn't for the US.

I want pre-CU back

Yeah?, Well i want it back!!!
