Luv Anarchy Online, if it wasn't for the fact that I just can't look at the graphics anymore, I'd happily go back to it. Should have never left, I wouldn't know any better.

I've never understood why people hang on to avatars.
What is so special about staring at your character's ass all the time.
Spaceships are just so much cooler.
If they added avatars that walk around the station, it would be ghey, because then you would need to arm the avatar, soon ppl will be asking for a planet to land on and kill stuff.
Dude, Anarchy Online already exists, I hated it. I don't want to walk around. I don't want to look at /emotes, or look at your ghey armor and your ghey sword.
This is a PVP game, its not a beauty contest. Its a contest of high tech weapons, diplomacy, economy and industry.
Of course Eve is not perfect, it has flaws. But even with those flaws, its the only game that I find playable.
Everything else is just watered down crap for little kids.

Huh, what? Sorry, I dosed off mining this asteroid here. Don't worry though, I'll have plenty of more time to nap during the jump back to my corporate station.

Originally posted by Hadesprime Eve is a scifi mmo thats for sure. But I wouldn't call it an RPG. No one RP's in eve. You just have to watch the chat channels to see that.;)
I would agree to most, except EVE. It may have started manymoons ago, to be a RPG style game. But there is no role playing envolved shooting a newbie ship at a gate camp...or what kind of role play is there mining veld for 8 hours a day?
No Eve was/is a fun game to play...but in three years I seen very little aspects of role play.
Jumpgate - Point A - Point B......Point A - Point B......Point A - Point B.....Point A - Point B (Flight sim), mining, exploring, easy to get ganked. You cant take your eyes off the screen for 5 seconds. PvP....anywhere
Eve - Mine, mine and more mine. Trading, PvP in certain areas
Earth and Beyond - Races, skills, grouping, leveling, mining, crafting, exploring, quests, quests and more quests. I think out of all the space games, this was a true mmorpg. Only PvP in this game was an arena.
SWG - only played for a few months. Space sim was nice.....couldnt get into the game
Auto Assaault - Different races, skills, Blow things up, good crafting, many quests. Got bored and quit after a few months. Hardly saw anyone playing.
AO - complicated game, seemed like it would be fun, couldnt get into it.
So, IMO, Earth and beyond was the best out of all of these, but it went away.
Originally posted by yetiamchosen Would love to hear your opinions here. I also don't know if I would count EVE as an rpg, because it's really flight sim based... Thanks! -Nathanael
hahaha Eve is flight sim based. hahahaaha
Sorry, but the quotes in this forum are hilarious.
Eve is the best MMORPG ever, never mind the sci-fi.
Originally posted by Hellfire999 NEVER, EVER, EVER start a topic like this again....why?
Because it only brings back PAINFULL memories of pre-cu and even cu swg....it will always be in our (the vets) hearts without the least of a doubt the greatest mmo of all time......if they kept the old system it could have rivaled the player base of WoW.....So if you want the greatest mmo of all time with the greatest liscence of all time wait till swgemu comes out.
Originally posted by MagicStar EVE Online is the only active sci-fi mmo "RPG" out there.
I don't know any other sci-fi mmos that has point/click and a dice rolling combat system thing...
RPG stands for role playing game, not roll playing game. Big difference...
I'd have to say SWG. Back in the day, at least... It wasn't great, but it was a hell of a lot better than EVE. I never played Earth and Beyond, so I can't really speculate on that...
I'm looking forward to Phantasy Star Universe, though. It's not out yet, but I have high hopes. I mean, with voice chat, and with it being on the XBox 360... Awesome. Well, the voice chat is only on the XBox 360 version, so that why I said that instead of PS2/PC. Anyway, I'm going to say that it'll be the best. If you disagree, well, that's you opinion, and you've every right to it. But please, please, don't rant on about how "great" EVE is, and how if I disagree, I'm either an immature prick, I didn't look hard enough for the fun, or how I'm just stupid.. I'm tired of hearing it.

You obviously don't know what roleplay is then. Eve is one of very few MMORPG to enforce roleplay at a basic level.
HAHAHA your talking about the forums? Try local chat, or corp chat..not one ooc; just abunch of elite type...and then lets look at TS or Vent...no roleplaying there....I will grant you one or two corps out there who say they are "Roleplayers" but that is just an excuse to declare war on sombody. Forums dont count for ingame roleplaying content.
As for not knowing roleplay...I had 256 member guild beleaving I was a female for 3 years...Yeah I know roleplaying...

erm....so what are you expecting people in a sci-fi far future game to be speaking with thee's and thou's or something?
Roleplaying in EVE does not require that people talk like they're stuck in the wayback machine. Sure people go OOC every once in awhile but when doesn't that happen in other games. People that are talking about ship setups, wars, trade routes and industry related stuff, or even mining are all staying in character. Every role that any player picks is part of the world, from miner to pirate is technically roleplaying in EVE.
You don't think the OOG forums are roleplaying? I beg to differ.
People who get uptight about players not /ooc'ing are as bad as f'ing LARPERS FFS

You are ignorant of RP.
Eve makes it easy to RP because its in the future. You can say "wassup dawg" and be totally RP.
RP in fantasy games is weird, ppl pretend to speak with a british accent. Its like being in a renaissance fair.
Pretending to be a girl is not "roleplay" and neither is being a transvestite.
OMG don't get me started on LARPS.
I went to one and its basically people fighting with plastic swords and throwing beanbags as magic spells.
It was ghey in the extreme. Let us never speak of this again.
