It's all good. I finally reached my threshold for abuse. Think of what I can do with the extra $60/month and all the time?
And at least I no longer need feel any more restraint anymore about expressing my opinions of the Devs, the Mods, and their pathetic unpaid lackeys in the Senate (beer is yellow, so is piss, I think they are more like the latter).
Yes, I am now once again having FUN with SWG
I'm more on hiatus than anything. Sooner or later the ducks will be quacking, and I'll be enjoying SWG in SWG again.

For the record, I wasn't banned from the game (they don't have the guts to do that since I didn't break any of their rules by anything I posted there), just from the forums.
I can still play my accounts. Though I haven't, total login time since Tues: <2hrs, so little that rumors circulated that I had been permabanned lol. First one expires last day of this month, and the last one is gone in late Sept.
I am tempted to register the trial and get a forum account the exploiter way, but why bother? There no longer is any point whatsoever to discussing anything there. For the record: Their sysadmins are as incompetent as their developers, I bypassed their IP ban :30 seconds after I realized that it was that, not cached login data that kept me going to the you have been banned page. Haven't they ever heard of DHCP?
I am curious: How many customers consitutes dead to you?
As it stands, SWG shows over 150,000 paying subscribers. I do realize that isn't close to 6 or 7 million WoW subscribers, but it is still an impressive number outside of that. Based on numbers, there are only about 7 MMOGs with more than SWG, with dozens of MMOGs being cited. Of those 7, 5 of them are over 500k. Meaning, SWG just about leads the pack in the standard MMOG subscription range.
Of course, it was at 300k during its peak, but both Lineage and Lineage II have seen a drop of almost 500,000 customers each over the last year. Final Fantasy has lost over 100k over the last year. Not quite a 50% drop in any of those, but significant enough to warrant a look, or a rethink in what constitutes dead.

Those games haven't been drastically altered (twice) from the form they were in at their sub peak, so yes, you can argue that they lost some due to WoW rather than bad redesigns the player base hated.
SWG isn't anywhere near 150K players anymore. At best half that, though over 100K subs may still show on the books counting prepaids and free trials.

I am basing my information on research. Subs aren't included in free trials, however pre-paids would be.
You are right, the other games haven't been altered. However, that doesn't discount the question. What do you consider dead? Dramatically altering of a game while still keeping 100k+ subscribers doesn't sound dead to me. It does sound like it impacted a large portion of the player base, but it isn't dead.
Remember the good old days can't really constitute dead either. I can remember the good old days of games where you would find a lot of people in a certain area. The game evolved and now you won't find people in those areas, however it hasn't meant the game died.
With all of that said; most of this is an emotional and personal issue. People really did love what they had in SWG and that type of change, without a real amount of community input, can really affect people. I can really understand the reaction. I just tend to want to see fact behind emotion. The most vocal people will probably be the people that loved the game or concept the most. They will also be the ones that feel the most betrayed.
It is kind of like when McDonald's changed their french fries recipe (for those that can remember). Back in the old days, we knew what good fries tasted like. Today's fries are ok, but not even close to what we had yesterday. Don't tell me McDonald's fries are good, you don't know what you're talking about. And!!! Those corporate punks didn't tell us they were changing it, they just changed it. Over 50,000,000 served (yeah, that old) and they still change it without asking us?! I spent a lot of money in McDonald's... A LOT! Top 50,000,000 served SWG fans! TOP THAT!

Can you tell me how to bypass the IP ban? I found a website that ran all my requests thru a proxy server which would then hide my IP, but the free version is not available during peak hours. Is there something I can change to by pass this IP ban? I had been banned in the past before, and I loaded the forums via Launchpad at gamestartup, but they seemed to fix that bug.
I got a 20k min ban last night for speculating about the new system that was about to be revealed. Mention Pre-Cu in any Context, and bam, out comes the ban stick.

If your IP isn't static (dynamic) as it is with a PPPoE DSL or a DOCIS cable modem, simply shut down your modem, edit the MAC address of your router, turn everything back on and *POOF* new IP. They can't block whole IP blocks of major ISP's.
Just got a 10000 minute ban myself. Also no viewing priveledges on my ISP. Np clue as to what I said or did. I certainly did nothing any different than I have been doing for the 1.5 years I've been posting. Something bad's a comin'. No doubt about it. They are in very serious damage control mode now.

Not to shoot the conspiracy theory down too hard, but the general level of consistency in forum moderation has always been comparable to the quality of CSR in-game support and overall coding quality, so it could just be the usual 'going way overboard for no rational purpose' bannage.

There is really no point to the naziboards anymore. Anything important posted there gets here.
And people here usually know what happens (rumors, etc) well before the naziboards have it.
It's my fault, I shouldn't have taken the bait. I stepped on one of the Senators "crank" and he had to get me where his allies could do something to me. As I said, I never actually violated any of their stated rules, and the Senator himself was the real troll, posting what he did, but guess who lost 3 forum accounts?
If I wanted to, I could be back posting there right now, if I saw any point to it. I don't.
One thing is clear. Our Senators are all clones of Senator Jar Jar Binks. All the Padme Amildas had names that were this color and quit shortly after the NGE, if not before. They don't have any guts and lap up anything these guys throw out. And they are doing it in public, disgracing themselves in front of an ever shrinking audience of Star Wars fans.
GarVa once threatened to ban me for "making the Devs look bad". My PM reply was that there isn't anything in the stated guidelines that said this was a violation of any sort. That ended that conversation. Now add "making the Senate look bad" to those unwritten rules. That is all I did "wrong", and all I did was throw back at them their OWN WORDS AND ACTIONS to do it.

Of course that's quite possible. But I've posted things MUCH worse, over a long period of time. This time they banned me twice in as many weeks, each time for relatively mild postings. This is the very first time it's ever happened to me. Of course you may be right, but my nose tells me something big is up. After all, we are getting close to the one year mark.
