And BTW, how is it that the devs of this game have seperated the community out?  if ANYTHING they have helped it by merging some of the less populated servers with the more popular ones.

simple, they made a game with a long level grind (not nessicarily a bad thing by itself) and didn't consider well enough what would happen if their game didn't have the poulation they expected from the beginning, or what the game would play like for people starting months after.  I think everything feels seperated because of excessive instancing and the number of zones.  These systems may have been great if a ton of people played, but that never seemed the case to me.  I mean, seperate chat channels for levels?  thats great if you have so much chat people can't find others of their level, but its hard to imagine that in the game I played.

some things I would consider doing-  not charging a monthly fee until the account had a character of sufficent level to interact with the majority of the playerbase.  I'm hearing 30 here, so go with that.. it would sure beat the the trial they have currently, and would get them more long term players.  to make sure they keep getting money, maybe remove the free download?  I just didn't have enough fun with the game to keep rerolling to try out servers until I find a good one while paying 15 bucks for the privilage... get me hooked on the game, and I won't even notice the cost however :)

another thing was, unlike some games players don't really seem to have a place they go and interact.. if they do, its probably someplace a newbie never even gets to is my guess.  the most peole I would see as a newbie would be the crafting instances (does THIS really need an instance??  whats wrong with actually seeing these people while going through the city?  if lag is the answer, I guess elder scrolls oblivion is the perfect MMO.. since I'm the only character, no lag!), and those people are off in their own little world in there, no interaction taking place at all... 99% of the time you don't know if everyone's just afk or what since nobody seems to speak out loud.  example-  back in my ultima online days, you could run past britianna bank and see loads of people;  buying and selling, recruiting etc.  auction houses and recruitment menu buttons kill that kind of stuff... basically I had NO REASON to interact with anyone, ever- even LFG can be done with the push of a button... you could probably be illiterate and play that way.

I am sure server mergers where a smart idea, and I don't see whats stopping them from doing more, unless there are like a handful of zones that would suddenly be uber crowded and the rest still empty.  I could keep going, but it seems like there is a lot they could do to keep new players playing and that maybe they just don't care if I continue now that they got some of my cash from me.  BTW, Learning curves and meeting people I don't mind, nor I do I mind things being difficult, in fact I think the learning and meeting are some of the best times in an MMO, so thats not where I had problems.

Don't waste your time or money on either game. WoW has not changed since you left, and EQ2 doesn't get any better from where you are now. WoW is linear and boring, while EQ2 is expansive and boring... pick your poison: do you want to be with Warcrap's school kids or Foreverquest's selfish geezers?

Funny that, I seem to recall this quote from you:

"anyone know anything that is funthat i might be missing???"

I personally could careless what game you play but you came here and asked that question and now you're acting all incredulous because people responded to that. A.D.D.?

Looks as if you made the right choice, as you'll fit in nicely in WoW--especially in the new "LFG channel."

Go get that A.D.D. checked on, as well as your delusions of grandeur if you really think anyone cares what you play.

Now go have fun, Skippy. Hurry! Mom will need the PC soon!

WoW is fun til you are 60.   No one likes to sit around for hours and raid.  I got two chars to 60 and promptly quit,  the pvp grind is unattainable, the raids are too long (I just don't have the time, only 5 hours from the time I get home from work til I have to sleep), and with the expansion pally's and shaman are on both sides will suck a huge one.  My opinion though.

1-59 is fun....60 is just a god damn bore of raids and endless PvP honor grinding with moments of boredom as you farm for gold and items to do another raid  and that is it.

I actually reloaded EQ 2 a week ago with that massive patch during WoW. I do like the changes but still prefer WoW.
