Yup, that online retailer named after an old egg is selling DDO for $14.99 - I think that sums it up for you.
Less than 10 months after its release...I hate Turbine and their attempts at sucking everyone into a worthless piece of junk.
I wont go into details on how bad it is, read everyone else's posts because it is not worth my time anymore...

The box may be that low, but it's still not worth what they're charging for a sub. I realize that 15/month is the going rate for a MMO game these days, but with the preponderance of things DDO doesn't have (crafting, explorable world, housing, etc.) it's just not worth the fee.
I agree that should the game survive, it will be at the level of an AO. Should DDO have an offer similar to what Funcom is currently offering with AO (free client and free gameplay for a year), I may reconsider and try the game again.
It's simply not worth the same monthly sub rate as WoW, EQ2, CoH/V, and the like. DDO doesn't bring to the table a quarter of what those games offer.
Crash86, I felt the same way about CoH. I felt it wasn't a $15/month game. I also feel DDO falls into that category. You are absolutely right though, $10 would be more reasonable IMO.
However, $15 for the game is a great find. Thanks to the Op.
so...
All .com's with egghead in their name are selling it for over $40 (egghead.com via Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/104-5504189-5010348 / eggheadsoftware.com doesn't even have it except via ebay stores and the price is oover $40 too)
For every person who didn't like DDO, I always seem to find a person who posts the opposite opinion, and in this case, that person will be me!
I really like DDO, and it is even getting more interesting as I play. I am not going to say why, or go on about details. All I'll say is that it is a good fun game for me, thanks Turbine!
It's a good thing there are many quality mmorpgs on the market, lots to choose from, but that will never stop people from always focusing on what they think is bad, instead of using the time more constructively to read about or try something that they might like.

Tymora: Didn't you state you have a regular group of friends who plays together? At scheduled times or some such? In that situation DDO can be fun because you don't have to worry about getting a group... ever. You also don't have to worry about constantly repeating the same dungeons over and over because, odds are, your group enjoys just playing the game and isn't in some mad race to get X item or X level.
That makes the game entirely different. Unfortunately 99% of the playerbase Does NOT play the game that way. They're either on a mad quest for level 10 or X item or unlocking drow. So it's the same quests in every PUG over.... and over..... and over.... again..... even in a guild that is the trend.
But for folks who have a regular group of friends who play exclusively together? DDO is fine. Then again that same group of friends could play NWN or Baldurs' Gate together and get the same experience for free rather than paying $180 a year for the ability to play online. Matter of fact... in NWN your DM can create his own adventures for you as well.
I just don't see where a $15/month fee is acceptable in DDO. It just doesn't offer enough to justify the fee.
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Still in: A couple Betas
Yes, Elnator, you are right.
I do play with a steady group of players, usually once, maybe twice a week, just as if we were meeting to play a pen-and-paper session of D&D. This is how we prefer it, and it is a lot of fun this way. It may be that Turbine intended DDO to be like this, but that certainly is not what mmorpgs veterans are used to. I must admit, I love a huge mmorpg with so much to explore and many possibilities in gameplay, either solo or party. I love a complex mmorpg that requires time and dedication. Dungeons and Dragons Online is not that mmorpg, but it is fun in different ways.
Yes, finding groups in DDO can be frustrating, but it hasn't been too bad for me when I decide to log in and play without my buddies. To be honest, I probably wouldn't be playing if I didn't have the steady group, but I have found enjoyable pick-up groups. The game really shines when I play with my friends. We have a well-rounded party, our playstyles are the same. We have the same goals and want the same things from our time playing.
I have never played a mmorpg with the goal being "get X item or X level". I enjoy the experience that the game has to offer, whether it focus on roleplaying, questing, crafting, exploring, hunting, PvPing, etc. I haven't played any mmorpg that gets it all right, but I think that DDO gets a few things right. It is far from a perfect mmo, and could have been better, but I play because I appreciate it for what it is.
Maaaaaybe.
----ITS A TRAP!!!----

Well, no. In this instnace it would be for every 10 people who say they didn't like DDO, there would be a person who posts the opposite opinion. Kind of a big difference.
I played DDO in beta and pre-orederred it for $10 or something like that, but didn't get it when it came out. It just wasn't worth the other $40 or so that they wanted for it. Anyway, I've purchased it from newegg for $15 and will activate my account when the box gets here. I've already downloaded and installed it from their "try it now" site. So I really just need the key..
When I initially played DDO, I was expecting a game where every mission was truly a unique adventure and expected too much honestly. I went back to playing WoW and now I realize MMO's are all the same for the most part. You run an instance or mission once and you pretty much know what to expect the next time. There's no reason I should have expected DDO to be different. I really thought playing a rogue in DDO would be more interesting than someone saying, ok there's a trap here, rogue, disarm it. Which to me, took all the excitement out of the instances.. and in a way, it still does. However, it's not something that every other MMO doesn't do so I don't know why I expected more.
I expect DDO to hold me over until one of the new MMO's comes out and that's about it.
so...
I saw this at target just 15 mins ago. 14.98 how sad.
I almost bought it, but am going to hold off. I usually wait 6 months to a year before joining an MMO these days. By then they are polished up and fixed technically to make it worth the time.
I work at an EBGames part time and we had DDO drop to $9.99 yesterday, and that's Cdn. Sadly we still have a half stack of boxes left, most of which will be going back to H/O. Sadly, we can't even give these things away.

This game is headed for a AC2 kind of history just history. turdbine wont support a game that isnt making them money they have proven that. Word to the wise if they offer a preorder expansion for $30 run like hell.
If they dropped the price its because they are getting ready to pull the plug, and are trying to suck a few more dollars out of the game first.
I feel bad for Turbine. I think DDO is a good game in its own right. However, I think Turbine took DDO in the wrong direction. They should have looked at what made DD so interesting: its lore, moral choices, development choices, etc... There is more to DD then just dungeon crawling. However, I think DDO is a fun game but I wouldn't subscribe to it, at least not for 14.99 a month. In fact, I was telling my friend the other day who loves Phantasy Star Onilne that DDO is essentially the home grown version. So, he picked up DDO and he is enjoying it.
I think I remember reading a while back that Turbine was expecting this to be a niche game, which it is.
PS: To most people who have said this is just another AC2, AC2 was a BAD game. DDO has fun combat, the quests are fun, the game is beautiful. Its just that the decision to make the game purely instanced is a major turn off for most, including me.
