Thats just the tip of the iceberg there is seriously over 100 different Asian MMO's.
Comments
too bad every single one of them sucks
apparently they've never heard of quality over quantity before
I rather be an EVE fanboy than play a Korean MMORPG.
1. I am not an American.
2. I'm narrow minded because I do not enjoy... ehh nevermind, I think that I already made my point.
Hilarious.
the current Number 1 Korean mmorpg in Korea is Archlord. its a big hit there.
although this will soon be filled by western players, complaining because they can't type "Ding!" every 10 minutes like in western games.
It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.
WRONG
Archlord is a failure in Asia and is doing bad there. get your facts right. it only has around 50,000 players in all of asia. lineage and lineage2 are the kings of asia.
theres only 1 good "true" PvP mmog being made for 2007. No levels , no classes , Skill based. Like pre trammel UO.

so I'm sure you can add a link to official word for that?
because from what I heard of CM, Archlord is doing very well in Asia.
in terms of subscribers, your right, because Archlord is free to play there. its incredibly hard to get official numbers for player base with free to play mmo's. its both speculating on my part, as well as on your part. but, browsing other forums here and there, I noticed a few people saying Archlord is VERY popular in asia.
also, please stop posting the link to thronesofchaos. I think more then enough people have already been scammed back when it was Mourning.
lol Thrones of Chaos, or should I say Realms of Krel, Realms of Torrent, Mourning, or Age of Mourning... wonder what it'll be next week.

Your guys' assumptions about the Korean MMO market is so damn irritating. In America and Europe we see 2 genres in mmos. Sci-fi, and Tolkien Fantasy. In Asia there are many genre being brought to the mmo realm like, Sports, Racing, Fantasy(more then just Tolkien), Sci-Fi, and Anime. Just because you narrow minded people don't actually look at anything but those damn Lineage 2 clones doesn't mean you know "All of Asia" damn you guys need to do some research instead of being prejudice assholes.
I just don't want mindless grinding. It's a very simple concept. I'm not Asian, and I don't like their games, so that makes me a prejudice assclown and narrow minded?
No, just makes me like a game with actuall flavor, not a game with 2,000 levels and all you do is grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, and grind some more untill you killed "X" amount of rats/dogs/flying eyeballs, whatever.
The thing is you grind in every mmo except for World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, and Planetside. Infact most western games have worse grinds.
Yes it does from the comments you make about Asian games. It is very narrow minded and pins the entire industry in asia on only a few games you had bad experiences with. Aside from a few people here, generally everyone at mmorpg.com acts this way. The only other assumption made is that everything looks like Lineage 2. Whats worse yet is when someone wants to talk about an Asian game and are new, their views are attacked by alot of the bygot trolls that run around these forums.

No, that is not narrow minded.

But this is. because it simply isn't true.
One of the things that most AGHs (Asian Game Hater) fail to understand is the major difference in design philosopies between asain and western games.
Western games are based more on the single player RPG model. The player is given a set of objectives to tackle in a semi-linear fashion. This idea is probably the least MMO friendly since it requires a constant stream of new objectives and new content. Bottom line: Western games are GOAL ORIENTED.
Asian games are based more on collecting. Often times, you'll see something like "over 5 million items" in the features list of an asian game. Unlike western gamers, asian gamers aren't so into hitting the level cap as fast as possible. The aim of most asian game design is to create something along the lines of The Sims meet Diablo. Oddly enough, many Asian games hit that balance between Animal crossing and Champions of Norrath. A good example would be Mabinogi or Ragnarok Online.
As a side note: World of Warcraft was originally concieved as following the collectable card model. Come to think of it, Guild Wars follows that model as wel.
You guys need to learn the difference between obvious grinding and forced grinding. Alot of Asian games have obvious grinding, you know damn well thats how its going to be. Most "western" mmo's have forced grinding, they try to cover it up with stupid little quest and a shit-assed "storyline", but it dosent work.
At least the Asians dont bullshit me.
"There's no star system Slave I can't reach, and there's no planet I can't find. There's nowhere in the Galaxy for you to run. Might as well give up now."
Boba Fett
Asian MMORPG's are all about competition. saying "its nothing but grind" is ignorant. your completely missing the point then.

Grind grind grind all day long I grind all day while I sing this song~!
Asians die from not eating or sleeping while playing online games or from killing each other IRL for stealing in game items from each other. That's just a few headlines I've read
Even their MMOFPS you really need to play 100's of matches to lvl up.
They have a MMO for everything Online Dancing to Online Racing I'll give them credit for creativity in coming up with ideas for things to make games out of.
But they all have a huge GRIND..............
