President Bush 'assassinated' in new TV docudrama

reavoreavo Member Posts: 2,173

I'm no fan of President Bush, but he's my president.  And I find this pretty disturbing.  What if we American's had a film showing the assassination of Putin, Chirac, or Blair?

Don't get me wrong on this though.  I think they have a right to make a movie.  But apparently they also took advantage of their right to have no class in its production.

great. now that some one made a film about it it's sure to happen. And do you know what would be worse...Cheney would be president, that would be worse than bush IMO.

I hope some day we can all put aside our racisms and prejudices and just laugh at people

At least the man in control would actually be in control.

Not to mention, he sounds a lot more intelligent, even if he is wrong.

As an American, I am not "outraged" .... interesting subject matter for the movie from the article's description.

I'm really not sure what's so outrageous about this. Would it be less outrageous if they used some fake president? And if so, why?

Personally, I love "alternate history" type stories (i.e. What if the confederates had won the Civil War, or what if the Roman Empire had never fallen, etc.?), so this doesn't bother me at all. If you are bothered, I'd say you're a little too sensitive. It is fiction, and at the end of the day if you don't want to watch it just change the channel.

I searched "reavo alley" on wikipedia.  No results came up, therefore it does not exist.

I bet because of the key words "assassinated", "Bush", and "President" we have Secret Service or FBI checking this thread out lol.

Honestly, with Bush's approval rating, if he was assassinated I think the general concensus from our country would be "Oh well", or maybe thats just me. Honestly I'm more surprised that nobody has made an attempt at him yet. Dick Cheney isn't likely to live 2 more years to serve out the rest of the term, plus we all know he's running the show anyways. Besides, a well placed hand grenade could get them both. Oh dear, now I'M on the government watchlist! Next time Bush comes to Washington state theres gonna be black sedans following me everywhere .

    From the link

The dramatic scene, which has caused outrage among Americans, has
been created by a British film company for a programme about the effect
    of the War On Terror.

In Death Of A President, which will
premiere at the Toronto Film Festival later this month (SEPT)before
being shown on Channel 4's satellite channel More4 in October, the
assassination is a starting point for a retrospective fictional
    documentary about what happened next.

Why are you shocked? Bush is the most likely target of an assaniation (Blair would be next though). C4 have a good record on making docu-dramas like this so I am actually looking forward to seeing it.

As well as this the director has made two previous programmes in a similar style, both were enjoyable and thought provoking.

I don't see the issue with this. It's not the first time a movie is about the assasination of a leader and it won't be the last. They might go a little more into detail (by using his face), but beside that it's not that special.

Arnold Schwarzenegger would of made a better president then Bush.

We can only hope some madman gets inspired by that movie...we can only hope....

jesus you guys are totally disrespectful.  Disliking bush is one thing, but wanting him dead?  I could guarentee many people very upset if he is killed.  Me and my weapons would go to defend him..or any other president.  He's commander and chief and deserves at the very least respect.

I couldn't care less about Bush, but if you knock off Tony Blair I'll drink to you.

When he started preaching in the Ukraine, a hand grenade is what he got.

That made me laugh. He won't be sticking his nose in back there again.

Yeah well Bush has completely disrespected me and the rest of the nation.

In western Europe no one would really care, simply because the prime minister (president) of those countries (belgium, UK, spain, France...or wait...France is an expetion... Germany or the Netherlands) holds alot less power and an important role as it's American counterpart.

I presume he was just asking for an assasination attempt... Maybe he should look at his popularity in the world before traveling out of the U.S
