Arg! sick and tired of feminine anime characters!

Anyone else sick of these gay looking anime characters in many of the MMORPG's? They all look like they should be named Lance, talk with a lisp and go "Oh... my God, did he really just say that?". Its really a stretch of the imagination to put armor and weapons on these cartoony freaks and have it be halfway intimidating...

LOL, I know what you mean. If I'm going to play the role of a fighter, I want to look the part.
Part of the reason I'm looking forward to WoW. Cartoonish maybe, but there's nothing wimpy about the Horde characters.

You mean like those anime elves that look like girly little boys? Usually long hair, feminine face. Ya, rather annoying. I'd prefer to look like a brute, intimidating.
Thats one thing I really hate about Lineage 2.

And this to Fin... Elves aren't meant to be giant brutes. I don't care what tales you read, what game game you play, or what movie you see, odds are you're not going to find an elf like you want because according to pretty much everything elves are SUPPOSED to be graceful creatures and all that jazz.
Personally I like anime and the anime characters don't bother me. I like bright colors in mmorpgs and stuff because really, I prefer to be able to see without jacking the gamma up on my screen. (or turning the brightness up on my moniter)
There's many of alternatives to the games you don't like... for instance you could play another as I already said... or read a book... or go for a walk... or throw a brick at something. No one forces you to play the games, and ok, maybe the spikey hair aint the most manly thing in the book but you just gotta face facts that this anime style is becoming increasingly more popular and it's probably not going away anytime soon.
And on my final note, if you think the guys in mmorpgs look like girls, go look at some screenshots of the male main character for Final Fantasy 12 and I think you'll suddenly find them more "manly".

I dont mind anime whatsoever. Matter of fact, I find thta form of art to be better than many types of art currently out there. If you hate it so much in terms of mmorpgs then dont play it...pretty simple, yes?
Also, to poster who said they didnt like boyish looking elves.....Elves are suppose to look "feminine" and/or slender.

It's an art style. I guess you either like it or you hate it. Personaly I'm currious as to which games you are refearing to. I mean other than Lineage 2 which is made by an asain dev, I don't see that many games comming out with animeish character design. Unless you want to include FFXI, but come on, you knew that going into the game.
In addition I would like to say I would much rather have a feminane looking male, than something that totaly looks like ass. IE Lejendary Adventures and Dragon Empires. Which isn't art, it's the total lack there of.

That's why i'll play a dark elv chick. I rather pick a hato chick then playign a male avatar that looks like a chick anyways.
But i agree with the thread starter.
I planned to play a Dark Elv male but i just can't do it because of this bad design.
First off, let me say this: Dwarven men are real men, and so are dwarven women...but that's ok, since elven women are real women and so are elven men!
Ok, lets take this from a LoTR view point...
Legolas: EQ Ranger type. Awsome with a bow, can melee if forced to. Looks like a typical elf. Give it even odds who is "prettier", him or Galadriel. Give him breasts and most men would consider dating him...her...whatever.
Now, take away the bow, give him some steel (breastplate, greaves, bracers, etc), a 2-hander broadsword, and put him on the front lines. You would expect him to fold like a paper doll at the first attack...wouldn't you? I mean, he looks like a pansy. Nothing at all like Boramir or Gimli in pure meaness/toughness...
Cut away to the final fights in 3rd movie. Elves on the front lines, full armor, double bladed staff weapons, trying to look mean and tough in that feminine sort of way but failing. But push comes to shove, them pansies kicked ASS.
Elves may look like panises, but they can be a true warrior just as much as any humen, ogre, orc or whatever.
Ironically. all that being said, I have ZERO elves on my roster in EQ. 1 dwarf, 1 troll, 1 vah shir (cat-person), 1 halfling, 2 humans, 1 barbarian and 1 gnome.
You guys complain WAY too much. You really need lives, I only come on here once a week, and everytime I do come on, all I find is more complaining. If you don't like the game, quit, no one wants to read your boring opinions. The elf (Link for example) looks like a guy. I don't know what you are saying, but you best get off those drugs.
But I have to admit that Male Elf in Lineage 2 is the one race that I feel a little uncomfortable playing with. They simply look too .... what I'm gonna say "cute?", too ...... I'm gonna stop here.
Too bad that Lineage 2's male elf has the best archer class.
A3's male elf archer looks way cooler than Lineage 2's male archer.
But at least Lineage 2 has Orc race which is my favorite race.
I heard that Lineage 2 might add new race/avatar to its future update so see what they have to offer.
Lineage 2 need some sick/seventh-hell-resident kind of looking monster class.

I think the topic is worthy of discussion. Funny how accusation of being gay, people telling each other "then don't play it!!", etc... Why do threads always go this way? Why can it be something more along these lines:
Post 1: "I hate anime, looks wimpy and gay to me".
Post 2: "I like it. Great art form."
Post 3: "I agree, it's is nice."
Post 4: "I dislike it too. I am not going to play LineAge 2"
etc...
Why do poeple always have to start calling each other names and stuff. It is a valid discussion, not an argument.
People need to relax.
I personally am on both sides of the fence. I love the look of female anime characters, but male anime characters look a bit too wimpy for me as well. OK for an elf, but not a human warrior.
And as for the person who posted about Lord Of The Rings... In Part Two, when the Elves came marching into the Keep to help defend it, I first thought they were all women elves... They do look feminine, but that is OK for an elf in my book.
(See, no telling others they shouldn't play or their opinion is wrong, etc).
Play nice people, lets have mature discussions around here.

I used to hate anime style characters, but after playing FFXI for a week, I had a lot of fun and began looking past the look of the characters. Now I think they aren't so bad. The graphics of the game world are great, there is really a lot of detail in the different zones, and some character models are really growing on me. I still don't really like some of the silly looking monsters, though. I was actually on the edge of my seat the other night while playing, the dungeon I was in really set a creepy, dangerous mood and I was scared!
I may look like a whimpy, helpless little girl, but I'll kick ass on any monster that crosses my path! (as long as they con Easy and have Low defense and Low evasion).
its the normal, I dont like it and i am gonna argue about it with people who do...just because i can.

I can respect your opinion and its one your not alone in ramadin. Anime like any art form has its fans and critics.
I personally love the style with its colors and expressive images. I guess the only thing I would disagree with is the idea that smaller "cuter" characters equal gay or weak characters. Despite common belief, a lithe dexterous individual with a sword is every bit if not more deadly then a plodding hulking brute.

Anyhow, you all say most elves are meant to look like wimpy little pansy girls. Not in LoTR, elrond, I dont think he would exactly be categorized girly. Imo he sort of looked mean, I mean how could you not when you play as Agent Smith.
I've also seen other depictions of elves where again, they dont look like gay transvestites. And look tough and mean, but still being elvish looking.
