As you see you've rated things you thought wernt good at a 7 :

There are so many things wrong with this review that I actually created an account to post about it.  It's the first time in all the time I've spent on MMORPG.com that I've felt the need to respond to a review.

Instead of doing what I originally intended and tearing this review apart paragraph by paragraph, line by line, and wondering ad nauseum about how on Earth this guy could have ever gotten tapped to do this review when he clearly knows knowing about A) reviewing or B) World of Warcraft, I'll simply quote this very well-stated person's post and agree with the rest of the folks in this thread who have taken issue with this review.  In short, it was mind-bogglingly clueless in almost every possible way.  I dont understand how anyone could have found it useful, except as an example of why not to allow people who dont understand a game review it, and of course how NOT to write a review.

For what it's worth, 7/10 is not a "C."  Out of 10, 5 or 6 would be in the range of "C."   So I suggest, before you do any more reviewing, you might want to bring yourself up to speed on how to actually score a review in the first place.  Observe this example:

    1-2 = F

    3-4 = D

    5-6 = C

    7-8 = B

    9-10 = A

See how it works?  Listen, dont worry if you can't remember it.  Just print it out and stick it on your monitor for future reference.

I had a lot more here about the game itself, but I deleted it, 'cause it was pointless and off topic.   What is on topic is that this review was extremely bad, plain and simple.  While I'm sure the intention was good, and while I agree that the idea of an end-game review for WoW is a great idea, the author and whoever edited and approved this crazy review should be called under question and reminded exactly what their jobs entail.  Nice try, but unfortunately, your shot landed in an alternate universe and has no relevance whatsoever with regards to what you were aiming at.

In the future, you might want to take on people who both know how to write reviews as well as actually play (and comprehend) the games they are reviewing to fill your reviewer positions.  Reviews like this one just make you, and the reviewers themselves, look really, really silly.

    Good luck.  :)

    edit: removed random boldination!

I don't have a Level 60 character. I have six of them. And every class that isn't 60 already is in its fifties. As far as I am concerned, once a toon hits 60 it's moth balls for him as well as I could not care less about "Epic" armor. I'm a solo PvE player and the fun in WoW and other mog's is leveling and once that is finished so is the game. I know that it has already been mentioned in several previous posts and totaly absent as a topic in the review, but there is no place in Blizzard's planning for the "solo" PvE player. I think there are a lot more of us than then they think or want to admit to.

Raids and party required zones as well as Battlefields don't interest solo players for the most part  because of the low threshold of childish behavior that they can tolerate while in them (Wow - the game - should also hold some sort of record for having attracted some of the most assenine people to ever right click a mouse. ) and also do not have the time and/or patience to sit around for an hour of more just forming one.

As for solo PvE players and the content they need to stay happy, does Garret Fuller even mention this demographic in his review .. nope.  Yawn .. yet another flawed Garret Fuller review. Who pays this guy?

I am at a loss with this review. Garrett has decided to review this game from a Raider's point of view, as well as some PvP sprinkled in.

Then with this review, he hasn't included the patch 1.12 changes, nor did he talk a whole lot about the changes with the advent of certain zones being PvP enabled, Eastern Plaguelands, or Silithus.

But aside from what he is reviewing, which are basically old complaints that were voiced several months ago, and Blizzard has worked to fix most of that with smaller manned raids, as well as the cross-realm Battlegrounds, he forgot about the city in the expansion, that is going to be a PvP area, which you can do fly overs and bomb the opposing faction with your flying mount, nor did he talk about the Arena System.

He didn't go much into detail about Reputation Farming, which at this point still feels like a grind, but I have a feeling that Blizzard is going to change that as well.

But I get a feeling from lot of these reviews, and or complaints, that people want the nice gear handed to them on a silver platter, with fries. They don't want to work for anything, they want to go through a instance, or a dungeon one time and have their gear, and die zero times.

Their has to be a point in the game where you work for some things, it shouldn't be easy to get, but by the same token, it shouldn't be boring and repetitive to get either. You should not feel like you have to grind to get the special gear, or feel that you have to go through a instance 90 times to get fully geared out.

I think Blizzard, above all other MMO's that have been out are actually trying to make a balanced game, plus they fix bugs right away. I rememeber in Ultima Online, when a patch came out bugs would be around for ages it seemed. I don't mean minor bugs either, they were major bugs. Like breaking into peoples houses and stealing everything they have.

Also you don't have to leave your computer running for ages, and sit in one spot to wait for the magic Mon-drum Mob to appear, that 50 other people also want to get, and you feel like you have wasted your whole life away, hence Evercrack.

So I think Blizzard has made some dramatic changes to MMO's, that hopefully other game companies will look at and follow suit, or make better. Plus they are still growing and changing. So I still rate this game as a 9.0 in my opinion, the reason I rate it as a 9.0, is cause they fix bugs really quick, the game runs pretty much smoothly, and is up most of the time. No one can sit here and tell me that World of Warcraft lag is worse than Everquest, or Ultima Online, or other major games out there. Graphics and music I think is the best in the industry, the quest line's are outstanding. Raids are outstanding, the few I have been in, and the PvP is really good. Granted there are some flaws in this game just like everything else is flawed, but all in all, it is way above 7.9.

im sorry, but when he says he gave WOW a low score on something, he didnt, 7 is still good imo. i didnt see anything lower than it, and that tells me the review isnt accurate.its a fan's review, and should be put in the normal members reviews. u wanna real review, get someone who doesnt play the game to take the time and play it to max lvl then make a review. to me, this review is crap. and yes i played WOW, not to max lvl, but the game didnt entertain me, and why should i try to like a game that im paying for? i cancelled the account. me? im playing Everquest 2. but to each their own. i love EQ2, and would probably rank alot of scores higher than someone else.

Since the cross-server BG stuff in 1.12 I have had 5-10 minute waits for the smaller BGs, and 30-40 for AV with my 60.  With my mid-50s character, WSG and AB queues are about 1, yes 1, minute.  This has made a huge difference in my enjoyment of PVP.
  • snypersnyper Member Posts: 1

His text was accurate but it seemed all he did is complain about an area, even if he is right, then rate it a 7-8.

The verbiage we pretty much dead on but the reviewers ability to rate anything sux.

As for Customer service I'd rate it a 5. Overall it is maybe a 3 BUT I have personally experienced where bosses where killed and loot got bugged and recieved the gear or assigned the gear with the GM.

First off hi this is my first post, good to be here, secondly the author was generous on giving this game a 7. It is a good game, however not a great one. 6.5 million players solely because of a lack of decent mmorpg's out.  if EQ2 didn't launch with so many problems and DDO came with more content there would be far less players on WoW imo.

End game WoW blows, you know it, I know it.  Grind grind grind yah 60. Once there grind for gear or get blown away by some punk that has no job or life and can afford to put in the time to get the gear, no matter how poorly he plays; with 39 people watching your back, it's hard to fail if the raid leader knows his stuff.  Once you stop having to grind for xp, you grind for gear.  And don't forget the faction grinding.  Also remember to grind for resist gear.

Ya I have a life, so I can't compete endgame in pvp anymore, my poor priest is just too outgeared in his blues, besides half the time it is a guild facing a guild for some honor/faction trading, and didn't ya know invites don't go out to non guildies, and raids were always a stupid idea, having to set my schedule around 39 other people to play a video game? f2that.

all posts have been moderately accurate except that

25 man raids = what happens to the other 15 who were raiding before?

    goodbye communities

    Awesome review man!

I played a few times during beta and got to around 27-33

After beta I went to a PVP server on the first day and
leveled to 60 VERY quickly with a rogue.

I then quit after a few months of being in an “Uber guild” because
I got tired of the loot grind and people ONLY focused on loot. (Hey wasn’t this
    a PVP server)??

Then I came back a few months ago, made a Hunter on a “normal”
server but focused on the new PVP game.

This time however I leveled slowly taking my time and doing
quests and such just trying to enjoy the world. At 60 once again it turned into
a grind to this time get pvp gear and people would Q up in AV and sit there
    just to get honor.

I totally agree with you man, the game is pretty fun until
    Level 60.

I would recommend this game to anyone who has never played
but I would also tell them to take their time and enjoy the lower levels
because at Level 60 you will get hungry for a real MMORPG.

Your review is Spot on and don’t worry about these chumps
who are bitching about “OMG 7??? 5 man 5!!” these are the people who would
bitch if they were to be Hung with a new rope.

    Your review deserves a 10!

Sorry but you actually didnt read the review.... the first sentence of the review states that it's a review of the end game..... and you just said you agree with the review but the game is fun UNTIL 60? you should buy new eyes... or start learning to read...
  • fierce750fierce750 Member Posts: 37

    Dear naldric,

I have 20/20 vision so I do not need new eyes. By the way, where do you
    purchase new eyes?

I also have been reading for 30+ years and never had worse than a B- grade in English.

I was saying that I liked his post.

I agree with everything he said about “end game” which is
    level 60.

I was also stating that I felt the game was fairly good
until 60 which is “end game”.

I was not aware that by me saying that I liked the game
until level 60 made me ignorant to the fact that the review was based on level
    60 or “end game”?

At exactly what point did you read that I thought this
    review was before level 60?

All I did was add that I liked the game until level 60 or as
    many call it “end game”

I also added a little bit of my experience with the game.
Whether or not you deem it appropriate for this thread is opinion and your
views really have little bearing on the facts of the original topic.

Perhaps it is you that could calm down some.  Take my post for what it is. Opinion

    Dear Fierce,

You stated in the post i mencioned earlier and i quote "Awesome Review" so i thought you agreed with his review, sorry about the misunderstanding....

When you say "that I liked the game until level 60"  i thought it would mean that you dislike it when being 60... and that's what the whole review is about.... not getting to 60, but being 60, you are contradicting yourself.

The whole review is about the end game, and if (like i supposed when you said "that I liked the game until level 60") you didnt like it at lvl 60 then you are not agreeing with the review, and then the review isnt awesome... and then you are contradicting yourself.

I hope i enlighted you as how i interpreted you post, thank you.

    Fun: 8

-As mentioned in the Value section, the end-game really slows things down for players.

-Once players reach the end game they seems much more limited to running instances and grinding for faction to advance their character. Exploring these areas for the first time can be a lot of fun, however on the fifteenth attempt at a boss the fun factor drops a little bit for players.

-PvP is certainly fun when it is going on, what is not fun is waiting in a queue to enter a Battle Ground only to find your team is losing and get kicked out again to get back in the queue.

So let me get this straight.  Once you reach 60's the only thing left if grind reps, pvp or do the same instances for loot.   And you give that a fun rating of 8 !   Ok we don't play the same game.

I just want to say that Blizzard customer service is inferior quality to most. Also I find Blizzard is getting a bit of a big head about their game and dont seem to care about the individual customer anymore. They are coming up with outrageous new rules that they are inforcing with banning your account. I had two WoW accounts... one for me and one for my wife. They banned my accounts after finding out that we played each others accounts. They sent me an email with this link to explain my banned accounts...
     http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowaa/?id=aDisplay02046p

here is a list of senarios you will find on that web page that are against their rules and
will cause your account to be banned.

"Here are a few examples of access that is considered unauthorized. In
all examples, George is the registered account user, and Cynthia is his
16-year-old daughter whom he has authorized to use the account (this
list is by no means all-inclusive).
    • George wants to let his brother Rick try the game.
    • George has to cook dinner and his guest Travis just wants to chat with guildies while George is busy.
    • Cynthia doesn’t want to level her character up, she just wants to raid, so she pays a power-leveling service to do it for her.
    • Cynthia
wants to achieve the top PVP rank quickly, so she asks her guildmates
to fight in the battlegrounds while she’s at school.
    • George is
trying to get Exalted with a particular faction, and asks his wife,
Janice, to help him by grinding mobs and repeatable quests.
Each of these examples could result in George’s account being closed,
permanently barring both Cynthia and George from accessing it further.
In the case of wanting to let friends or relatives try the game, you
can provide them with access to a free trial of the game through the Recruit-A-Friend program."

I feel this is just completely obsurd. My wife and I paid 30 dollars a month for 2 years to blizzard for our WoW accounts and they want to tell me I cant log on my wifes account and help her lvl a bit?!?!? This is only one example of Blizzard not caring about the individual customer. They have so many open accounts now that they dont even blink before banning your account. I suggest any new comer to look for a different MMO as I will be. They only way you can contact the account admins concerning any account action is through email. Their billing department can be contacted by phone(after a long hold) but can do nothing about any account action including a ban/suspension. Blizzard Entertainment simply doesnt appreciate your business or money so why give it to them?

The community is terrible.  TERRIBLE!  Nothing like playing a game with thousands of immature children whos soul purpous of the game is to grief and annoy you.  The hardcore players in endgame guilds are a**holes, thinking that their loot makes them win at life.  However, there are some down to earth cool people.  Just dont expect to meet many friendly players.  Oh ya, and also dont expect to get into an end game guild either, most are full and not recruiting.
  • tutetute Member UncommonPosts: 299
I keep hearing the community is terrible but I've yet to see evidence of it.  Maybe because I mostly play with RL friends though the couple guilds I've been in were not bad.  Not the most helpful but I certainly wouldn't label them terrible.  From what I've experienced on a couple servers, one of them being Hellscream, was more of people keeping to themselves but I hardly ever see l33t childish speak on the channels.  The pace at which you gain useful loot is what kills me more than anything.  My friend likes raids but they are too much of a big time investment to be worth it for me.
