Admiting it dosent mean they will "take back" that mistake. The mistake they are refering to is the delivery of the NGE, not the actual NGE. I think SoE will eventually go back on their word and open classic servers, but they wont get rid of the NGE.

I have to agree. They have too much invested in it. And I don't just mean development and resources. They've taken so much shit over it, to throw it away would be the ultimate admission of guilt on their part, that all the players who've been bad-mouthing it all this time were right. They're not about to admit that. No way in hell.

Agreed .. They know they F'ed up BIG time. But they won't right their wrong. So in the end ... maybe it is just another case of lip service and they DON'T think they actually did anything wrong? Except the delivery .. OH MY!!!!! Business is business isn't it?

This article helps to show how retarded, stubborn and bull-headed $oE really is.
"But you know, part of my reason for presenting this and talking about it is I want to educate - I want people to learn what we've learned in that process".Yes.. tell us your ways oh wise one. Your a seasoned pro at pissing off your customers. By the way.. part of learning from your mistakes is not making the same mistake over and over, and going back and fixing the mistake...if it can be fixed.
"There was some really positive stuff, and the game now is as solid as it's ever been, our people have done a great job"What are you smoking? As solid as its ever been? Really positive stuff? Thats why you have less then half of your former subscribers since the NGE came out?
"we got the bug count down to about half of what it's been in the past six months." This is something to brag about? What decent mmorpg doesnt have half its bug count down after being on the market for over 3 years? Now how about giving crafters and entertainers a friggin purpose. Or maybe giving me back my teras kasi abilty or creature handeling abilty... you ass.
Fiala said there was "perceived to be a timing opportunity" related to "product placement and product marketing" of Star Wars Galaxies, and reiterated the importance of listening to "the market you have" when making decisions about a game already in production.Again... learning from a mistake... means fixing it. $oE has showed that they havent learned a damn thing. SoE... fix it! Get rid of this stupid NGE! Or give access to a pre-cu server. You could at least double your subscribers.

Some people here are confusing SOE with a company that cares about their image. They don't. It's all about them chasing the largest number of subscribers in the way they THINK they will reach them. I used to think not putting up pre-CU was about embarassment, but it is not. It is madness and stupidity.
I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever
Only apology that means a dam is a rollback with another company SOE/LA out the way. Thats a real "Were sorry/Apology" talk is cheap and SOE loves to bs like a model with laxatives
We're sitting in our offices thinking of ways to upset our paying customers. I think were on track to meet that goal.

What I think is laughable is your useless, no-opinion-on-the-thread-I'm-just-gonna-show-up-and-flame-people-attitude.
You need to make a point or shut the hell up and let the rest of us "haters" discuss it.
Hate the company but the latest publish is pretty good they're starting to listen to thier customer base just wish they had tried it alot earlier. Still though one publish does not make amends for what they did and trader revamp is next so we'll see what they do with that.

I would play the nge version if it was done properly. I viewed it when it came out as a new product. I love pre-cu and want to play it so dont misconstrue this post as reading into it as a nge supporter. The nge deserves to be ripped for what it is, unfinished. I agree with them that the implementation was absolutely horrid. However, I think anyone who thinks that swg didn't need to be fixed and redone is not seeing SOE and the actual subscriber numbers. It wasn't the hit it should have been. SOE wanted it to be successful.
I think people wouldn't be so held up about pre-cu if they just listened to everyone who posted it needed more time. The lack of character diversity was a major issue and that still isn't completed. People complained about the interface needing work including camera angles. The FPS portion of the game was not ready. Jedi as a starting profession had serious issues in this timeframe it didn't address. Crafters had major issues against the looting and decay system drastically impacting there gameplay. Entertainers had no purpose in game. If they would have spent the time before pushing it live fixing the issues we wouldn't be in this predicament with a whole host of people shouting at them for pre-cu. It would be just a fringe element at that point.
However, the past is the past and the nge went out in beta state. The real leason of the nge about you dance with the ones that brought you is more then dont change a game drastically. Its if you are changing a game drastically it requires extensive testing before release with that community. It requires you listen to the issues brought to the table and address them prior to pushing out such enhancements. If the nge proves anything its that testing a product throughly may not determine a products success at the market but it can determine its failure. Lack of through testing dooms a product.
The mistakes are known. The solution isn't so obvious. For the sake of a playable swg mmo I would hope a pre-cu version comes along until the nge gets all through its current publish plan. I bet once that occurs alot of us who wont play the nge would be willing to reinvest in soe on the pre-cu version and assist in testing the nge. Most of us actually dont like the nge because its really paying to beta a game.
