xbox 360 vs wii vs ps3. Console wars. BRING IT!!!

So, the ps3 and wii launches are almost upon us. Well, most of us, as you know the ps3 has been delayed in europe for 6 months until March 2007. Sony blames the European delay on problems in
mass producing elements of the high-definition Blu-ray disc drives in
the machines or some crap like that. Anyway, what do you think will happen? Who will the winners be? My opinion is sony has their head up their ass as usual and will have a bad year from launch. With the crazy prices of the ps3, I think the wii will be the biggest selling console in Japan. Xbox 360 will rule the north american market, with its rumoured price drops at christmas to compete with the wii.  In Europe xbox 360 will win with the wii not too far behind.

I will probably buy the wii first of all just before christmas for Zelda. The whole nun chuck controller on the wii with zelda looks pretty cool. I only bought a gamecube to plaz zelda. It was worth it. Then I'll buy the xbox 360 for mass effect or asassins creed after christmas, whichever comes first. The only large exclusive AAA titles that I see sell consoles on the ps3 is metal gear. Sony lost the exclusivity on the GTA brand.  Sonys 'key' launch titles including
Heavenly Sword, will miss the November 17 launch day on PS3 and now
appear in early 2007. I dont understand whats great about heavenly sword anyway. Why else would you buy a ps3 just now or the near future apart from the bragging rights? Sure, sony has a strong brand image but do you think it will win them the market within a year from launch or do you think theyre just arrogant pricks that have no idea what the consumer is willing to pay? I think sony will win it in the long run, over this console generation, but I dont think they will have the success the had with their previous consoles. Sony said this consoles lifetime is 10 years. I think microsoft will release another console within 5-7 years and take the market. What do you think?

    I already have a 360 and I love it, but if I feel the urge to get another console (and if I have the money), then it would be the Wii.  I have no desire for a PS3, but the Wii at least has a cool controller, even if I only ever got a few games.

    Why don't you pitt the wii and ps3 together. The 360 is already out and it's pointless to compare 2 consoles that don't exist to the public to somthing that is already out there.

    How can you make a Console War when you can't even play the other two?

      360 is a beast as far as the quality of games, this isnt your old ugly brick classic-box.  Has everyone seen the latest Odyssey and Bio Schock vids ? Hot damn.  Gears of /wars, Mass Effect , enough said.

    Wii is cheap, it cant come close to the graphics of the real next gen consoles like 360 or ps3 but it nintendo and the games will appeal to everyone just like GC.  Zelda will be a huge seller thats for sure. We'll see how the whole thing turns out.

    Ps3, the decrease in price before it even goes out is a clear sign of a bit of swetting by the makers.  Its only for the Japanese market though and no guarantee it will happen anywhere else.  I saw the games they plan to release all the way up to summer and I have to say I am not impressed.  Watching the vid of MGS where snake commits suicide made me want to vomit and never buy a mgs game again.  No franchise games at launch is a bad thing with only The Fall of Man as an eye catcher :(  , maybe something i missed but not impressive .  Alot of third party devs left the sony exclusivity playpen and ps3 will have its hands full trying to wrangle ps2 players into buying a 600 dollar ps3 with not so many good games.  With that said ps2 has sold over 100 million consoles since launch, x-box 360 sold only 5 million consoles so far, so in theory if the wii doesnt get too much play we could be seeing ALOT of ps2 players waiting patiently for the ps3, and another ps generation.

    If i was to get a console within the next 6 months, i would probaly choose Xbox 360. Mainly because it got some heavy-hitting titles on the way. I would love to play Mass Effect *drewl*

    But i'm probaly sticking with my PC. The only 'console' gaming i do, is using emulators to bring back the old days.

    Nintendo is in talks with Take-Two, rumors are they are getting Grand Theft Auto. If thats true, then Nintendo will offically have a strong lineup for every damn genre/age out there. They arent bullshiting with this "system for everybody" thing.

    Why is it pointless? They're all consoles competing in the same market. This threads about speculating what will happen.

    I agree about the wii. I thought they would go the way of sega this generation but it looks like they have their act together. I think it was a clever move to delay zelda until the wii launch. The only reason I bought a ps2 before was because of gta. The reason, I think , ps1 and ps2 were amazingly sucessful was the  large selection of games. The xbox was a late show in the last gen compared to the ps2 and was generally crap so sony had a foothold in the market. But, it wasn't only that, the playstation brand is so strong because of the success of ps1 and mainly it was a good console. Nintendo and microsoft recognise that they just cant sell their on console tech and innovation, they need games i.e. microsoft pulling the exclusivity of gta away from sony (must have cost a ridiculous amount of money) and nintendo having zelda at launch. All I see is cool xbox 360 games and potentially cool games on the wii because of the controller and not much show from sony.

    You sure GTA exclusive on 360 ? I always thought Rockstar just going multi platform with it now.

    I probably should of been more clear. The exclusivity was taken away from sony i.e. its no longer exclusive to ps3. So, it'll be on xbox 360 and ps3.

    K tx for the clarification. Been hearing alot of people saying MS bought exclusivity. If Rockstar is going multiplatform it isnt that MS opayed them to do it, just that they saw how much more money they can make after bringing TA to X-Box too. 

      Considering how uber new GTA games will look for 360 and ps3, wii would just look like the ugly cousin version.

    GTA has never been about graphics. The ones for the PS2 and XBOX look like they are from the first PS.

    I'm not clued up on the wii tech but I'd imagine it would look the same as the other platforms. I can't imagine gta would push the wii past its limits. You'll probably see the difference between cross platform games in 2 years or so. I heard of one of my friends that rockstar north is using the game engine that was in their table tennis game. Or probably more correctly the table tennis game was using the gta 4 engine. Dont know if thats correct or not, because i havent checked up on what he said, but it doesnt seem far out.

    I'm just saying untill I try wii and PS3 all speculation will be nothing but rumors.

    The PS3 will dominate the field once again!

    I'll be getting three of them...far better investment than both the other consoles combinded. In fact, at $600. the PS3 is a far better investment than the PC at this point!

    I hope Wii wins. Wii gets props for originality. Considering how many games Wii has, it should make a good competitor. Which is coming first, Wii or PS3??

    I cant remember which is actually coming out first, but they're coming out within 2 days of each other I think.

    The funny thing about that, is the 360 HD-DVD drive will probably outsell the PS3, considering the US is only getting what...like 250k out of 500k?

    I skipped the last generation of consoles (first time I haven't owned a consol since Nintendo came out back in the 80s) because I was very much busy with MMOs and other PC games. Five or six years down the road, and I'm really not impressed with what the PC game market has to offer anymore. Lots of the same old same old, maybe I'm just jaded by now, but I like games I can really immerse myself in, and the industry seems to have simply stopped making any serious forward moves in this department. On the other hand, I feel I missed out on alot of great titles with the last generation of consols, and I'm itching to get back into the game.

    Nintendo Wii: Honestly, Nintendo makes me want to puke. I grew out of Zelda and Mario games in the seventh grade, and Nintendo's vision seems to still be very, how to put this, "family friendly". I have no desire to play goofy, cartoonish, or family friendly games, so conversly I have no interest in what Nintendo has to offer. Then again, I lost interest in Nintendo like 10 years ago, and I'm honestly surprised they haven't yet gone the way of Sega.

    Playstation 3: I owned a Playstation back in the day, and was a serious Sony fan. When Xbox and Playstation 2 came out, I refused to buy an Xbox out of loyalty, and I adopted a "wait and see" policy with the PS2. Which in retrospect is a good thing, because the consol, in my mind at least, turned out to be a huge disapointment. Honestly, the only thing I miss about the Playstation is the Final Fantasy titles, as I was an FF junky for a very long time. But as far as I can see, Xbox did it better, and won my grudging respect over the past few years. I grew up with a strong brand loyalty for Sony, but the corporation has gone downhill in many departments. I'll be pining for FF XIII, but then again maybe Square-Enix will finally break their long exclusivity with Sony, and release XIII for Xbox 360 as well. It seems to me to be the logical move, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

    Xbox 360: This is my choice, and I think I'll be investing in one sometime in the near future. I've already seen and heard alot of good about the consol, and some of the upcoming releases simply have my mouth watering. When Microsoft first announced they would be releasing a gaming consol, I prayed that it would be a total flop. But as I mentioned, Xbox slowly won my grudging respect, and grudging respect has slowly turned into excitement, something I haven't felt regarding a gaming consol in years. Microsoft for the win.
